The Chosen One
Posted by Literary Titan
The Chosen One is about a young boy, Toby, who follows his sixth sense and is able to avert loss of a very important artifact that was to be revealed in a museum in Torsha. After the artifact is returned to the proper owner, Stan Tress, he requests to have a private meeting with Toby and his parents. Stan reveals to Toby and his parents that special gifts have been bestowed upon Toby. This comes as a surprise to Toby’s parents but not to Toby. Tress offers to coach and mentor Toby in his journey of enlightenment till he reaches his full potential and achieves his purpose.
The author has used simple language and vocabularies making the book easy to read. Readers from all runs of the word can read this book without feeling any sort of bias or being offended. Unlike many authors who write content only for adult readers, Alex Chornyj has made it possible for kids to enjoy this book as well.
Use of metaphors is one of the book’s best qualities. When the author uses animals like whales, leopards and hawks, it is more metaphorical than literal. It is a way of showing readers there is more to humans than our physical nature. The author symbolizes the spirits of these animals and our inner self.
The book starts on a high note and the author has managed to keep the readers hooked throughout this suspenseful book. I was eager to know if Toby will manage to tap into his potential. What will happen next? How will Tress’ and Toby’s relationship be?
The plot of the book is simple and easy to follow. Characters are created well and they fit perfectly into their roles. However, because the book appeals to a broad audience it doesn’t appeal to one perfectly. Sometimes the book was a bit too fantastical, which would be perfect for a younger audience but adult readers may want more depth. Other than that I thought that The Chosen One is a beautiful book that makes readers engage their mind wile reading.
