Blood Divided

If you are looking for an epic fantasy adventure, then look no further than Blood Divided by Kevin James Breaux. The second in a saga, Blood Divided builds upon the strong foundation that Soul Born laid out. We follow the four children of Opal, Tala and Karn twenty years after the events of the first book. The action, lore, magic, and world building continue to inspire and impress in this installment. This is an exciting tale and worth investing every second of reading time. If epic fantasy stories are your cup of tea, this is definitely the book for you.

Breaux does not clutter his books with needless characters. While this particular book centers around the four children of Opal, Tala and Karn, the secondary characters all have purpose. Breaux excels at character development. No one feels out of place, not one character feels like a simple plot device. It is also refreshing to have a male author who writes such strong female leads. There are no damsels in distress in these pages.

In addition to side character depth our antagonist, aptly named Khaos, is also well developed. There is no black and white here. There are only seas of gray which brings the fantasy to life. There is no black-stained villain and no pure white hero. You can love and hate the same character multiple times as you read through the epic adventure before you.

The excitement, pain, joy and sorrow are palpable in these pages. Breaux writes with captivating skill that will have you eagerly consuming the content to the end. The tale is calculated and carefully crafted. It is easy to tell that there is more to this saga, yet the ending is not abrupt or disappointing. Instead it makes the reader yearn for the next installment.

If you are looking for a fantasy story with depth and complexity then Blood Divided by Kevin James Breaux is the book for you. Although it is the second installment in a saga it is easy to pick up and read even if you haven’t read through the first volume. Knowing that there is more to this world is sure to fire up the imagination of any avid fantasy reader.
