What If?

Pixie follows a real pixie who accidentally steps through a portal into Comic Con, where a human family helps her discover that belonging isn’t always about where you come from, but who makes you feel at home. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?

After watching videos of Comic Con on social media, a thought struck me: what if one of the attendees actually was what they appeared to be?

How did you develop Luna Brightwing’s personality and her combination of curiosity, vulnerability, and courage?

I based her personality on the curiosity, innocence, and innate courage of a four-year-old child.

How does Pixie examine the difference between being noticed for what makes someone unusual and being genuinely understood?

Luna did not mind being noticed, she always had difficulty being understood which is why her innocence led her into our world.

What do you hope readers consider about individuality, acceptance, and the importance of finding a place where they can be themselves?

I hope that my readers gather that it is ok to be different, ok to be themselves and never fear anyone that challenges them for it is usually their own insecurity showing who they are rather than who the reader is.
