Midnight Light

Midnight Light, A Unique and Spooky Journey! by [Michael Pace, Brian Paglinco]

Midnight Light by Michael Pace is a true manifestation of expressing and exploring one’s grief while turning it into a piece of art in the process. The author bares his soul, letting the reader witness his mental breakdown. Pace openly admits he is struggling to cope with his loss, tries to make sense of the events that led to it and finally concludes that the death is inevitable.

The topic of death is brilliantly emphasized by the photos of various tombstones taken by Brian Paglinco. The photos combined with the poems create a uniquely dark and ominous atmosphere, which in turn, turns the book into a real piece of art. Pace and Paglinco show the reader the romantic beauty hidden in the concept of death, turning what was once macabre into something more imaginatively fascinating. I believe they fully succeeded in achieving their goal of showing hope and beauty through dark gothic literature.
