The Odd Observation
Posted by Literary Titan

“Why The Fisherman Fished” follows a young boy who discovers the enchanting power of stories through the tales of a joyful fisherman who returns from the sea with whimsical adventures. What was the inspiration for the idea behind your story?
My fish tank has a plastic fisherman on a small wooden boat, tossing his plastic line into the depths below. The fisherman never catches any of these fish but he did inspire the story after much marination. But “Why The Fisherman Fished” was born thanks to the odd observation turned inspiration.
The book emphasizes the joy found in experiences rather than material gains. How do you hope this message impacts young readers and their parents?
I hope the message teaches readers the greater reward over immediate success. I hope it inspires readers to enjoy the experiences and relationships that shape us doing what they love, instead of whatever the end reward may be.
The illustrations really bring your story to life. How closely did you work with the illustrator to ensure the visuals perfectly complemented the narrative?
Thank you. I worked as an art director on the project. I had to provide design inspiration and worked daily to ensure each page met the vision.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
The next book I’m working on is about a girl that befriends a crow. I aim to have it out next Spring.
