When Fantasy Comes Knocking
Posted by Literary Titan
Requiem, Changing Times follows Clint and Corbin as they learn their town has been invaded by aliens and Clint is their target. What was the inspiration for the setup to this thrilling story?
In the stories that I love for youth, many transport them into a fantasy world. I wanted to bring the fantasy to these characters. Inspiration for doing this is all around us. Once I knew what I wanted to do, the story almost wrote itself.
Clint and Corbin are well developed and interesting characters. What were some ideas that guided their character development?
Clint is a young man who is lost. I wanted to bring something that some youth might feel at times. He seems unable to change in the family that is changing around him. When fantasy comes knocking on his door, he begins to learn that it is the problems that come that can bring family together, not take them apart.
I enjoyed the mystery at the heart of this story. Did you plan the mystery before writing or did it develop organically while writing?
In the study of literature over the centuries, the stories with plots upon plots seem to be what people are drawn to again and again. I planned out the details of the mystery but left how the characters would discover the clues to it as the story unfolded. There are most mysteries to come.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I have a new series which will be coming out in a month or two called, “Crystal Shadows, Gripping New Blood.” The sequel to Requiem will be coming out next year.
Clint and Corbin are having a weird day. Best friends for life, things are getting a little strange around their town, and at school. When they’re followed by a strange man looking for Clint and later attacked by an imp, it makes sense to retreat to the safety of home. But when strangers from another world, Banks and O’Neil, arrive with their medley of allies, things get even weirder. Why are they here? What do they want? And what is The Requiem that everyone keeps talking about? As Clint and his friends and family are drawn deeper into a thrilling adventure, only one thing is for sure. They may not be getting out alive. And class with Mrs Christenson will seem like a walk in the park after this.
