Her Wicked Seduction

Estelle Pettersen’s Her Wicked Seduction brings together explicit erotic romance, wealthy family drama, and a growing sense of danger. Set largely in Lester Harbor, it follows Vera Richland, an ambitious lawyer with a sharp tongue, and Alistair Scott, a billionaire whose charm comes with plenty of complications. Their attraction takes shape through flirtation, challenges, and a shared appetite for sexual adventure. As their lives become more entangled, questions of trust carry as much weight as physical chemistry. This is the second book in The Bad Boy Seduction series, and its overlapping relationships give the setting the feel of a small social world where money, reputation, and private grudges reach into almost everything.

Vera gives the book much of its personality. She’s funny, outspoken, and comfortable naming what she wants, whether she’s pursuing pleasure or pushing back against someone who assumes they can direct her life. Her bisexuality feels woven into her experiences, and her professional ambition adds another dimension to her independence. I especially liked how her confidence coexists with vulnerability. Her bravado can be entertaining, but the quieter moments reveal how much effort it takes to let someone close. Alistair brings a more volatile energy, with tenderness sitting alongside jealousy and a habit of using his influence to get his way. The alternating first-person viewpoints let us see the attraction from both sides, including the fears and assumptions that make their conversations so charged.

I was reminded of Sylvia Day’s Bared to You, particularly its combination of a powerful, possessive hero, intense sexual attraction, and two people whose emotional wounds shape their relationship. Both books make desire part of a larger struggle to feel safe with another person. Pettersen gives her story its own flavor through Vera’s irreverent voice and the sprawling network of relatives, friends, business contacts, and enemies around the couple. The luxury is everywhere, from yachts and penthouses to designer clothes and international travel, and it creates an atmosphere of extravagant indulgence. References to Artemis, Orion, and the eagle add a recurring language of hunting, protection, and survival. Those images also suit a romance in which attraction and power are constantly intertwined.

The book’s biggest strength is its willingness to put affection, sexual freedom, trauma, and family loyalty into the same conversation. I found the friendships and everyday gestures of care especially appealing because they give the characters room to connect between the more explosive scenes. My main reservation is the repetition: descriptions of eyes, scents, bodies, and overwhelming desire return frequently, and some arguments revisit familiar ground. The timeline also moves across substantial stretches of time, which occasionally makes important emotional changes feel compressed. Still, the short chapters and escalating conflicts give the story momentum. Her Wicked Seduction will suit readers who enjoy graphic intimacy, forceful personalities, and a romance surrounded by intrigue. Vera’s humor and the characters’ longing for connection are what gave it the most staying power for me.
