Magical Experience
Posted by Literary-Titan

Sorcerer’s Creed follows Aaron the Dragonslayer, who has just defeated a powerful enemy to try and bring peace to the land, when he discovers that two sorcerers have arrived to train him in magic. Why was developing Aaron’s magical abilities the natural next step in his journey?
Throughout books 1-3 in the series, I presented sorcerers as trusted advisors to their kings and queens, no matter which kingdom they were located in. However, the main protagonist Aaron is not only a king, but also a sorcerer. Besides sorcerers’ advisory role to the monarchs they serve, they also have relationships and mutual understandings with each other across kingdoms. This relationship includes the sorcerer’s creed. Aaron learns about the sorcerer’s creed from the two people who train him in the magical arts, and in book 4 he comes to understand his duties and purpose in life beyond his own kingdom as a sorcerer.
How does the magical tradition introduced in this book expand what readers already know about magic in Qiledara?
During Aaron’s training, he becomes more confident in his abilities, and his long-held assumption about the true source of his power is dispelled. It is important for him to learn about the wellspring of his power and discover that he has fewer limitations, just in time for him to face even greater challenges in book 4.
Sorcerer’s Creed features an extensive voice cast. How does hearing different performers embody your characters change the way you experience the story yourself?
I imagine that hearing the cast of talented voice actors interpreting my characters probably has the same effect on me as a composer who hears an orchestra performing her work. In a way, it is not a surprise because I personally chose each voice actor who would do each character after listening to many dozens of voice actors to find the right ones. However, it is a very magical experience when the voice actors get the accent, the tone, and intensity of the dialogue exactly right, and their performance really brings that character to life.
Without revealing what comes next, what possibilities does Aaron’s magical education open for the future of the series?
Aaron has successfully persevered in books 1-4 so far to rid his kingdom and his world of some terrible threats that no one could manage to accomplish besides him. However, there are other heroes in the story, and there are enemy factions remaining that are bent on revenge. We shall see in the upcoming book if any plots against him, Elodie, and their friends show promise of success. Aaron’s reception of lessons from his wisest companions. such as his mentor Gueric, Owen, Anna, and others, will only aid him in becoming a better king and a better sorcerer.
