The Return of the NY Villains for Justice
Posted by Literary Titan
With Cora and Nina’s whereabouts unknown and Jericho Raven switching to the right side of the law, New York City seems peaceful. But a new villain soon arises in Amadou Diallo. The young man becomes NY City’s latest vigilante as he goes about hanging white supremacists and known racists. While law enforcement tries to stop Amadou, a series of events cause Nina and Cora to resume torturing and killing pedophiles, rapists, and child abusers. Once again, New York is plunged into chaos as the villains look to force the government to create stiffer punishments for sex offenders and racists. But as the villains seek to change society, they also face life-changing situations.
Marta Nater’s The Return of the NY Villains for Justice is the second book in the action packed Villains for Justice series. Your typical story is about righteous heroes, Marta’s is about villains. The book is steeped in themes of social injustice as Nater takes a peculiar approach to spotlight some of the biggest societal ills and call for drastic actions to curtail them. The story is less of an entreaty and more of a grim prediction of what may happen if the American society and the world at large fail to severely clamp down on racial injustice and sexual crimes. Nater’s writing is direct, raw, and emotive; a reflection of how strongly she feels about the themes. I find her passion contagious, empathy-inducing, and capable of triggering a sustained connection between the reader and the story.
While I applaud Nater’s approach to crafting the story, I felt that certain areas of the story could have been improved with some editing. This is a story with some wild twists that will leave your head spinning. The characters are all interesting but some go through an incredible evolution.
Overall The Return of the NY Villains for Justice is an entertaining book replete with thrilling action and thought-provoking themes.
