The initial spark for this novel ignited during my travels across Europe, particularly through the enchanting streets of Seville and the historic charm of Scandinavian cities. Seville, with its rich musical heritage and vibrant cultural tapestry, seemed the perfect starting point for David Lipton’s journey. The city’s pulsating rhythms and the haunting echoes of flamenco guitar set a backdrop that was both captivating and mysterious, primed for the unfolding drama.
As the story evolved, so did its settings, morphing to match the narrative’s intricate layers. The plot’s complexity demanded a series of breathtaking locations, each serving as a vital stage for this thrilling adventure. Readers have described Balbino as “unforgettable,” thanks to his ability to bring levity to even the most intense moments.
