A Powerful Healing Environment

J. A. Cox Author Interview

Air Purifiers Exposed: Everything You Need to Know to Create the Ultimate Home Environmental Defense teaches readers how to improve the quality of air in their homes without spending a lot of money on expensive and infective devices and instead using natural methods such as plants. Why was this an important book for you to write?

That is a very good question. During a time in my life that I was learning about ventilation and proper breathing I got a visit to my house. I was not expecting to be solicited to purchase an air purifier vacuum combo machine, but that is what ended up happening. During the demonstration, the rep had us close all our windows to run the machine, and I noticed a major difference in the air at once. I was nice and did not make a fuss to her about it, but it really lit a fire in me that would not go out. It also convinced me that I would never purchase an air purifier, considering that I would need to shut all my windows just to run the thing. That fire set me on a path of research and learning and a desire to share that information with others.

Your book helps readers to understand the science behind the connection between plants and air quality. How much research did you undertake for this book, and how long did it take to put it all together?

To tell you the truth I don’t remember. At that time in my life doing research for many things, especially health-related was a personal hobby. I wrote papers for fun and posted them to my blog at the time. I spent hours and days researching for Air Purifiers Exposed but the passage of time was negligible at best considering that I enjoyed doing so and still do but am not as engrossed as I was then. Also, having spent two yearlong tours in Iraq doing work in Intel for the unit I was a part of, doing in-depth and quick research was not very difficult. It was an everyday task during the war since I had to give briefs to the unit command every morning.

For readers who struggle with keeping plants alive but want to improve the quality of air in their homes, what plants do you recommend starting with so they can start removing harmful pollutants from their air?

First, I would recommend the chapter, “The Purifying Power of Plants” as each plant has very detailed instructions on how to care for it which was so nicely provided by a local plant shop.

However, the plants I would recommend would be the ones listed in the All-Stars section of “The Ultimate Defense” chapter. I will name a few below :

· Peace Lilly

· Chrysanthemum

· Golden Pothos

· English Ivy

What is one thing that you hope readers take away from Air Purifiers Exposed?

One thing that I hope readers will take away is knowledge. I hope they take away the knowledge to create a powerful healing environment in their home to improve their livelihood and that of their loved ones.
