In Tune With The Universe

Ivy Gilbert Author Interview

Protectors of the Light follows twin siblings who have drifted apart over time and are reunited with the common goal to protect the light, preventing the universe from entering paranormal darkness. What was the inspiration for the setup to your story?

The original setup to the story was due to a personal experience I had when I was in a car accident that totaled my car, and I had an out-of-body experience. This made me look at life as we know it, the universe, and spiritual situations differently and am more in tune with the universe as a whole, versus me as being separate from it.

What character did you enjoy writing for? Was there one that was more challenging to write for?

I enjoyed Hannah’s character the most. Though she felt insignificant, she actually had a lot of inner strength and had an important purpose for her life. Often women feel their lives aren’t as important as the lives of others, and this inspired me to create great meaning for her life.

The one more challenging for me was Nick. Life was always easy for him and he expressed an outward charm and confidence, yet he too had feelings of insecurity and fear, which is tough for a guy to often show.

What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?

The first theme that I wanted to explore was that we all have a purpose for our lives even though that purpose isn’t always recognized or figured out. Second, we are all connected. Many of us think we are alone or separate from each other, but we are all connected, and like a spider-web, every action has a result that weaves the web that connects us. And finally, I really wanted to explore the theme of personal energy, vibrations, and universal laws to help the reader take a more proactive approach to their life.

What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?

I’m currently working on a book for women in business to help them in their careers and lives. Yes, I’m all over the place when I write from fiction to non-fiction, but when the inspiration hits… I have to follow!
