The Battle Rages On…
Posted by Literary Titan

The Battle Rages On… by Dr. Gerald D. Robison takes on spiritual warfare in a way that’s more imaginative than I expected. Instead of laying everything out like a standard theology textbook, Robison builds the book around letters between a present-day Adam and Jesus, using that back-and-forth to talk through creation, Satan, angels, demons, the Nephilim, the divine council, miracles, temptation, the armor of God, and the final victory of Christ. It’s a big, ambitious sweep that helps readers see the Bible as one connected story where the visible world is only part of what’s going on.
What I liked most was that the book doesn’t feel afraid of the strange parts of Scripture. Robison goes right toward the passages many people skip over or explain away, especially when he talks about the Watchers, giants, territorial powers, and the rebellion behind Babel. I didn’t always agree with every conclusion, but I appreciated the curiosity driving the book. There’s an energy to it, almost like sitting in on a long conversation with someone who has spent years turning these ideas over and can’t wait to show you what he’s found. The writing is plainspoken, sometimes even playful, and that makes some very dense material easier to follow.
I also found the book’s practical side more grounded than I expected. For all its talk of cosmic conflict, it doesn’t reduce spiritual warfare to spooky stories or sensational claims. Some of the strongest moments are actually about ordinary human choices: pride, jealousy, temptation, misplaced desire, bitterness, and the quiet ways people drift from God. The chapter on Judas stood out to me because it treats betrayal not as one sudden disaster, but as something that had been forming in the dark for a long time. The book’s ideas are large, but its best insights often land close to home.
By the end, I felt like The Battle Rages On… was less about proving every detail of the unseen realm and more about nudging readers to take the spiritual dimensions of Scripture seriously. It’s great for readers who enjoy bold biblical interpretation and want a faith-based look at spiritual warfare that’s accessible, passionate, and thought-provoking. I’d recommend it to Christians who feel like they’ve only been skimming the surface of these topics and are ready to dig deeper.
