Whisk Of Dust
Posted by Literary Titan

Sherman Kennon’s Whisk Of Dust is a collection of poems that weave together themes of love, faith, struggle, and beauty. The book moves from meditations on nature’s quiet power to reflections on family, peace, and the eternal search for meaning. Some pieces are tender love poems, others carry a sharper edge as they question hate, violence, and the human tendency toward conflict. Each poem stands alone, but together they create a tapestry of longing, resilience, and hope.
Kennon has a way of turning simple moments into something luminous. Rain becomes music, stars become unreachable love, and a whisper turns into a lifeline. The writing isn’t complicated, and that’s part of its charm. I found myself lingering on certain lines, not because they were ornate, but because they were plainspoken truths that cut deep. At times, I wished for more polish or variety in rhythm, but I also realized that the rawness gave the poems their sincerity. They feel like words written in the quiet hours, when thoughts spill out before being smoothed over.
I also felt a kind of ache reading this book. The poems about loss and confusion carry weight, and the ones about love glow with warmth. There’s a rhythm of hope throughout, even in the darker verses, and that rhythm kept me turning pages. Some poems made me pause and smile, others had me staring out the window, letting the words sink in. The simplicity sometimes made me question if a deeper complexity was hiding underneath, or if the point was simply to embrace the words as they are. Either way, I felt pulled along by the honesty in the voice.
I’d recommend Whisk Of Dust to readers who appreciate straightforward yet heartfelt poetry. It’s a book of feeling, of spirit, of small truths stitched together into something larger. If you enjoy poetry that feels like a conversation with someone who’s seen both joy and struggle and wants to share both, this book is worth your time.

Resonance of the Soul -Flowers and Harmonics
Posted by Literary Titan

Dr. Ivan Edwards’ Resonance of the Soul – Flowers and Harmonics is a heartfelt and unfiltered collection of poems that dives into love, identity, culture, struggle, healing, and faith. Each section is like a room in a house built on raw emotion and lived experience. The poems weave together the intimate and the universal, from first love lost too soon to biting political commentary, from cultural pride to spiritual survival. It’s a spiritual map made of pain, joy, humor, and truth, written with a clarity that cuts and a tenderness that soothes.
Reading this book made me feel a range of things. Hopeful, angry, nostalgic, and sometimes just quiet. I loved the groundedness of it. Edwards doesn’t pretend to float above reality. He rolls around in it. His words hit you because they come from somewhere real. The poem about the mango, for example, starts sweet and ends as a bitter lament for what greed and corruption can destroy. There’s beauty, but also a sharp awareness that beauty is fragile. I was especially moved by “My Lioness,” which read like a love song with teeth. He writes women with deep reverence, and that matters. Some poems could feel a bit sermon-like, but even when he preaches, it’s from a place that feels earned, not lofty.
I also found his writing incredibly rhythmic and easy to feel, even when the topics were hard to face. The language is warm, clear, and full of music. No line feels accidental. He plays with structure, short bursts, long breaths, and questions that hang in the air. Sometimes it’s angry, sometimes forgiving. Sometimes it’s tired, then suddenly it’s dancing. There’s wisdom here, not just in ideas but in form. His poems about disability and struggle are some of the most honest I’ve read this year.
If you’ve ever loved someone deeply, if you’ve ever lost your way, if you’ve ever been underestimated, or if you just like poetry that speaks from the gut, this book is for you. It’s good for people who want their reading to feel like conversation, prayer, and protest all in one. I’d give this to artists, parents, students, wanderers, or anyone looking to feel seen.

I Write What I Feel
Posted by Literary_Titan

Twelve Red Roses in Verse is a collection of poems that explore deep unconditional love along with the significance of the rose. What inspires you to write poetry?
I write what I feel at the time of writing. Sometimes those pieces are beautiful love poems, like Twelve Red Roses in Verse, and my collaboration with Julie Kusma “Amore”, other times inspired by nature like Natyre Boy which you reviewed and Poetry Mouse, or driven by darker themes such as Noir, which you also reviewed or Darker Half Volume 13, another collaboration with Julie Kusma.
What are some literary devices that you find yourself using often?
Most often I use literary devices without realizing it, as I think most folks do. I like my poetry to be little narratives or vignettes of feelings or scenes. In writing those narratives, I love using enjambment, introducing line breaks to force the read in the manner the rhythm of the piece is written, almost like a performance delivery style to some extent. Sometimes I repeat words or phrases for effect, and I do love alliteration to create soft flowing or tension depending on the piece I’m writing.
My favorite poem from this collection is ‘Energy Flow’. Is there one poem that stands out to you from this collection?
There are many that stand out for me, each associated with a specific memory, moment in time. A favourite of mine is “Your Sweet Song.” I love its simplicity, yet conveys deep emotion and contentment to me.
Do you have plans to write and publish more works of poetry?
Yes, I have a couple of upcoming solo project releases. The final part of my trilogy, beginning with Noir, followed by Natyre Boy, is scheduled for release 7th October, that volumes is titled the Elegy and is available for pre-order now. Later this year, I will be releasing Urban, a collection of gritty cityscape poetry. And due to popular demand, there will be a second volume of love poetry, a companion to Twelve Red Roses in Verse, in January of next year.

From the first poem to the last, you will learn the meaning behind each rose and bouquet of roses given to the love of your life. Then, as you travel along with the love affair of the rose and its lovers, you’ll learn what it’s like to yearn, to need, to want; and finally to become entwined with your one true soulmate.
The roses in this book symbolize the growth that people endure while seeking companionship throughout their lives. While one rose means one thing, ten roses mean another. In the end, what matters is how we show our love and the significance of the rose in the banquet of emotions as we become entwined, unconditionally, Forevermore.

Twelve Red Roses in Verse
Posted by Literary Titan

Twelve Red Roses in Verse, by Derek R. King, is a collection of poems with love as the common thread. True, deep unconditional love is celebrated and explored through each poem, along with the significance of the rose. Each poem is proceeded with a roman numeral drawn in roses and a short line stating the significance of the number of roses. Many themes run through these poems that relate to love allowing the reader to become emotionally connected to these poems.
Author Derek King celebrates passionate love throughout each poem, as well as the significance of a single rose. The accumulation of roses throughout the poems signified the growth of a couple’s relationship and the different stages you go through as a couple.
Throughout the fifty poems in this collection, readers will experience the ups and downs of relationships. From the exciting new relationship stage to being comfortable and growing with one another. Each poem expressed different emotions that people go through in a relationship until they reach unconditional love for each other. This sentimental book is overflowing with all the deep emotions that love can bring, which can sometimes be overwhelming as readers take in King’s deep and meaningful words.
The one poem that really struck me was Seasons. It is the last poem in this collection and beautifully sums up love. The challenges of life as it constantly changes, the different stages of our lives, and holding onto that love through it all are presented in these twenty-two lines. My favorite line is “And all the stars in between / to share my life with you / my only dream.” There are so many meaningful lines like this throughout the collection. Readers will be able to find a connection in this collection somewhere along the path that King takes them.
Twelve Red Roses is a heartwarming collection of poetry that will stir emotions and give readers something deep to think about. Whether you are single or in a relationship, this beautiful collection will make readers want to celebrate love in all its stages.
