New Jump Swing Healthy Aging And Athletic Nutrition Program is part memoir and part nutritional guide; you share with readers your personal journey and provide detailed research to help back up your claims. Why was this an important book for you to write?

As someone with a knee disease at age 12 as well as chronic respiratory issues, I became very interested in personal health and rehabilitation. In the process of seeking out health information, I saw a consistent pattern of minorities having the highest rates of chronic American illnesses. I did not see a great deal of information within my community on this. I was the student representative for a school of philosophy and health called the Tree of Life located in Harlem, NY. Working with advisors from that school, I sought to write a book on health using many of the books from the school as well as my own research that would make people aware of the high rates of illness that affected them. I also wanted to establish my program of whole food plant-based nutrition as a new form of vegetarianism. To that end, I have written 3 books. The Philosophy of Divine Nutrition and The Way of PDN: The Ultimate Vegetarian Athletic Nutrition Program. These two books were used by me to break Guinness world records in public speaking. New Jump Swing Healthy Aging and Athletic Nutrition Program is the revised and updated version of those two books reflecting the latest research in healthy aging, sports nutrition, and motivation.

How much research did you undertake for this book, and how much time did it take to put it all together?

I have been researching health, fitness, and nutrition since I was in elementary school due to my own personal health issues and interest in science. My first book was written in 1977 and my second in 1986. I continue to keep up with this research. This is the third edition of New Jump Swing Healthy Aging and Athletic Nutrition Program.

What were some goals you set for yourself as a writer in this book?

To impress upon the individual the ability to have good health and fitness with a regular lifestyle.
To encourage those seeking athletic performance to go in an all-natural direction, as opposed to drugs.

What is one thing you hope readers take away from your story of gaining better health?

Improvement in your health is possible with education and persistence.
