The Chosen One follows a young boy who discovers he has special gifts and embarks on a journey of enlightenment. What was the inspiration for the setup to this intriguing story?
The inspiration behind me creating this story was the similarity to my present life’s path. I have been visiting ancient sites where I’m drawn to reconnect with my past lives. The stars have been re-lit due to my reawakening consciousness. The illustrations in this book magnify the impact of this story. The pictures are all from spiritual cloud pictures I have taken where spirits reveal their true identity and pure essence to me. A resplendent aura of energy surrounds this auspicious emergence.
Toby is an interesting and well developed character. What were some driving ideals behind his character development?
Some of the driving ideals in creating Toby’s character were the discovering of one’s true purpose, trusting your intuitions, to love and respect your parents, to have gratitude and to live life with an exuberance.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
The next book I am working on is my third poetry collection. The emphasis within it will have a healing focus due to our current pandemic. This creation should be available by late October 2020.
Little Angels is a collection of poems that reflect deeper imaginations and emotions that surround us as human beings. What are some muses that inspire you to write?
The muses that inspire me to write are two ancestors of mine the famous French novelist George Sand and my 4th great grandfather Edme Germain Villetard de Vincelles. These two people made their mark in life living with passion and having compassion for all people. Other muses that fire my soul are my spirit guides, chivalry, energy and the pursuit of truth.
Where do you write most of your poetry?
I write most of my poetry at work when I have a quiet moment to focus on my inner self and while listening to my spirit guides.
What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your collection?
I hope readers can attain a more profound sense of their connection to the earth and the universe by having read the poetic verses in this binding of thoughts.
Vincelles is a collection of emotional poems about family and life. What were some themes you wanted to capture while writing your poetry?
Some of the themes I wanted to capture while writing my poetry are the values of family heritage; how energy, spirit, love and light transcend a person; being connected to your identity and your inner self; and finally having a sense of purpose that has a path you are in synchronicity with.
Your great grandfather was a significant person in founding the Vincelles village. How old were you when you really started to appreciate this and how has it affected you?
I was about eighteen when I came of age to recognize what history I had in my family’s lineage. I have a sense of deep pride in the contributions my great grandfather made to the village of Vincelles. The fact that when Vincelles created its coat of arms they placed a feather in the bottom left corner to represent his life of service instills me with honour. Vincelles has translated my poem Vincelles into French which appears in my book Little Angels and has placed it beside its coat of arms in Vincelle’s city hall which is a great tribute to me. This has affected my life to inspire me to higher heights.
My favorite poem from this collection is Beckoning Resonation. What is your favorite poem from this book?
My favourite poem in Vincelles is Marks What We Become because this in its essence is how I see myself becoming an ascended spirit.
The Chosen One is about a young boy, Toby, who follows his sixth sense and is able to avert loss of a very important artifact that was to be revealed in a museum in Torsha. After the artifact is returned to the proper owner, Stan Tress, he requests to have a private meeting with Toby and his parents. Stan reveals to Toby and his parents that special gifts have been bestowed upon Toby. This comes as a surprise to Toby’s parents but not to Toby. Tress offers to coach and mentor Toby in his journey of enlightenment till he reaches his full potential and achieves his purpose.
The author has used simple language and vocabularies making the book easy to read. Readers from all runs of the word can read this book without feeling any sort of bias or being offended. Unlike many authors who write content only for adult readers, Alex Chornyj has made it possible for kids to enjoy this book as well.
Use of metaphors is one of the book’s best qualities. When the author uses animals like whales, leopards and hawks, it is more metaphorical than literal. It is a way of showing readers there is more to humans than our physical nature. The author symbolizes the spirits of these animals and our inner self.
The book starts on a high note and the author has managed to keep the readers hooked throughout this suspenseful book. I was eager to know if Toby will manage to tap into his potential. What will happen next? How will Tress’ and Toby’s relationship be?
The plot of the book is simple and easy to follow. Characters are created well and they fit perfectly into their roles. However, because the book appeals to a broad audience it doesn’t appeal to one perfectly. Sometimes the book was a bit too fantastical, which would be perfect for a younger audience but adult readers may want more depth. Other than that I thought that The Chosen One is a beautiful book that makes readers engage their mind wile reading.

The author has a way of using soothing words that makes one feel calm and heighten the desire to continue reading. Alex has a way with words; such that he uses simple words to describe something so complex and touching. For instance in the first poem of this book; Little Angels Dust Your Wings, he uses the beauty of sleep to show how good deeds deserve others. He uses his words to advocate for kindness and generosity that do not just benefit whoever is doing them but people around him and other generations to come. The author has also portrayed the important roles of family and lineage and how much they impact our daily lives. The author has used simple language to express deeper meaning of life and existence in a spectacular way. Every poem in this book is different but one can feel the connection between them. Alex Chornyj has used poetry to remind readers of their sole purpose in the universe and how this purpose is intertwined with our destinies. By reading this book, readers are given an opportunity to do a deep soul searching. This book leaves one asking questions about themselves; what is my purpose? What am I doing towards achieving that purpose? What are some of the things I do that hinder my purpose? These are not questions that one asks themselves on a daily basis but Little Angels will make you ask yourself these questions and even provide you with answers if you connect well with the author. I highly recommend this book especially to those who seek spiritual enlightenment.
