Ms Peacock’s Plan

Squirrel is on a mission, driven by a sense of urgency to complete his assigned task. Entrusted with the crucial responsibility of surveying the entire animal population in town, Squirrel’s objective is to update the outdated population sign. To accomplish this feat, he must meticulously counts every critter, ensuring an accurate record of the new number. Yet, numerous obstacles hinder his progress along the way. Squirrel’s compassionate nature compels him to lend a helping hand to one creature after another, frequently diverting him from his primary mission. However, a glimmer of hope emerges when Ms. Peacock extends her assistance, offering to aid Squirrel in rounding up the animals for the count.

In the delightful tale titled Ms. Peacock’s Plan by Diana Rogers, we embark on a heartwarming journey alongside Squirrel, as he endeavors to fulfill a seemingly simple yet challenging duty for the betterment of his town. Rogers weaves the theme of cooperation throughout her narrative, providing readers with an engaging pattern to follow as they accompany Squirrel on his quest. Additionally, the story entices with a touch of mystery surrounding the consequences that unfold with the press of a unique typewriter key. This infusion of fantasy adds an element of intrigue that will undoubtedly captivate readers, fostering their imagination and curiosity.

While Rogers’s story undeniably offers young readers an enjoyable plotline, the text itself presents some challenges. Navigating through the occasional spelling and grammar errors, as well as inconsistencies, can prove arduous. At times, determining the speaker becomes a struggle, as changes in dialogue lack clear indicators such as new paragraphs.

Ms. Peacock’s Plan is a wonderful tale with the potential to become an entertaining and unforgettable experience for young readers. This book is an endearing narrative that would excel when shared as a captivating read-aloud experience.

Getting To The Future Together

Michael Dow Author Interview

Nurse Florence®, What is Arthritis? follows a group of students who seek out the school nurse to get more information on Arthritis after a science lesson. What was the inspiration for your story?

I wanted to have a small group of kids interact with a nurse regularly so I decided that an elementary school nurse was the best option. I promote diversity and inclusion so that’s why Jean is Caucasian, Condi is African American and Sonia is Hispanic. We are only getting to the future together.

What is your background and experience in writing, and how does it help you write the Nurse Florence series?

I happen to have three Masters degrees (which was originally unplanned), and I learned to write concisely and efficiently with those degrees. We are hoping to publish a new book every week and a half this year and have met our goal so far. I have to write efficiently and accurately to do this with my limited time since I work extra shifts at the hospital.

What is one thing that people point out after reading your book that surprises you?

At first, the surprise was how surprised parents were after they read the books with their children and stepped away learning something new since it is a kids book. I feel I may have found the “secret” to make the books entertaining for kids and adults alike.

What is one question you wish that someone would ask about your book series but nobody has? And what is the answer to that question?

Is there a group of people you wish you would have represented in the series? There are two: two other girls that are Asian and Indian since they represent so many people on Earth. The next book series, which will be about mental health, will be fully diverse.

Sometimes it seems only a nurse can bring technical information down to an understanding that an ordinary person can grasp. The Nurse Florence® book series provides high quality medical information that even a child can grasp. By introducing young kids to correct terminology and science concepts at an early age, we can help increase our children’s health literacy level as well as help to prepare them for courses and jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. We need more scientists so I hope that many children will enjoy this book series and consider a job involving science. Introducing Some Medical Words to Kids in Every Book

A Deeper Story To Be Told

Kevin Chu Author Interview

Turning Pennies Into Dimes follows a stressed-out wolf who learns from his friend that there is more to life than work and he should do things that bring him happiness. What was the inspiration for your story?

“Turning Pennies Into Dimes” features the character of Doc the Wolf, who embodies my own experiences navigating a highly demanding and stressful phase of life. Similar to Doc, I found myself consumed by work and driven by the pursuit of success and financial gain. The inspiration to start writing the book emerged from a combination of sources.

Firstly, I felt a strong desire to prioritize meaningful time with my family, particularly my daughter, and to elevate our relationship above work commitments. Reflecting on the precious moments we shared and the profound joy that arose from being fully present with loved ones, I realized that there was a deeper story to be told. This realization became a powerful motivation to translate these experiences into a narrative that could resonate with others.

Secondly, the Wolf Pup NFT from the Wolf Den community played a pivotal role in inspiring the creation of Doc as a character in the book. Guided by the teachings of the Wolf Den, I embarked on a closer examination of my own life. This introspection led me to a realization: the relentless focus on work and material possessions was not providing the fulfillment and happiness I sought. It prompted me to question whether there was more to life than mere accumulation of wealth and professional success. This profound realization became the seed that germinated into the story of “Turning Pennies Into Dimes.”

What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?

The main theme and educational aspect of the book revolve around a simple yet profound message: Are the actions you are currently taking helping you to get closer to what you genuinely want in life?

Through the narrative of “Turning Pennies Into Dimes,” both parents and children can embark on a journey of introspection and self-reflection. By continually reading the book together, they can gradually internalize the concept and develop a deeper understanding of how their actions align with their desires.

What is one thing that you hope readers take away from Turning Pennies Into Dimes?

The book encourages readers to critically evaluate their choices and consider whether their actions are appropriate in relation to their goals and aspirations. It prompts them to pause and reflect on whether their current path is leading them closer to a life of fulfillment and happiness.

Will this book be the start of a series, or are you working on a different story?

In addition to the story itself, a collection of 365 days of six-word lessons has been created as collectibles for those who wish to own a piece of Doc the Wolf history. These lessons offer concise and impactful messages that resonate with readers and provide daily inspiration.

The forthcoming series of books aims to delve into various concepts, providing readers with a deeper exploration of important themes. While the second book continues Doc’s journey and focuses on the theme of creativity, each subsequent book within the series will explore different concepts that may not typically be covered within the school system. The intention is to introduce children to a diverse range of ideas and perspectives, fostering their personal growth and intellectual development.

Alongside the second book, a coloring book set in the world of Doc the Wolf is also being developed. This coloring book will offer readers a chance to engage with the characters and scenes of Doc’s world in a creative and interactive manner.

Life can be challenging, and sometimes we forget what truly matters as we try and turn those pennies into dimes. This book was created to appeal to both parties to enjoy story time together.

For the children: A visually appealing story with a cool wolf character.

For the adults: A daily reminder that “more” is not always better, sometimes “more” only moves you further away from what truly matters in your life.

My Children Were My Inspiration

Cassandra Cauvel Tucker Author Interview

A Monster Ate My Mom follows a little girl who wakes up to discover something is not right in her home, and finds her mom eating her siblings. What was the inspiration for your story?

My children were my inspiration. They are always wanting a “homemade” story. This was a spur of the moment story I made up one morning, while juggling all the chores of being a mom!

What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?

It’s very important to me that unconditional love was shown/taught through this story. Moms (and dads) can become tired and worn out, and children may see them replaced with a “monster.” This story shows how love is unconditional by both mom and her children!

What were some of your inspirations as a writer?

I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I have so many favorite authors. I think the biggest inspirations would have been not only my own children, but also my parents, sister, and teachers. The individuals who always believed in me.

What is the next children’s book that you are working on, and when will it be available?

I have My next book written, I just have to have it illustrated! So TBD.

It’s a typical morning in a typical house … or so one little girl thinks. Instead of her usual singing, her mom is growling. The whole house feels strange.

Emotional Mastery Is A Journey

MM Hoshaw Author Interview

Dyami and the Gobi Crystal follows a junior angel who discovers the people she has been sent to watch are in danger and must decide if she should help them. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?

My inspiration was the Book of Enoch with angels called “watchers.” I imagined the watchers would be the scribes for all records. Inspired by the Kabbalah (or Qabalah), I contrasted the angelic and earthly realms. The Dukán represented heaven on earth with no wars, illnesses, or hunger. Their perfect lives also varied little. The Naga was the destabilizing force which introduced dualism and growth.

Dyami’s story is a coming-of-age tale where she has to realize that choices have consequences. What were some driving ideals behind your character’s development?

Dyami approached the world from a naïve, angelic perspective. She gave and shared freely with others. She didn’t realize some weighed everything by how much it benefited them.

Dyami knew only gratitude, joy, and celebration before her assignment. She couldn’t remain in that blissful state with her heart bond, the corbatu. To properly document records, she needed to feel others’ fears and pain. She didn’t know how to separate their feelings from her own, and became overwhelmed.

She wanted to prove she could be successful. She was passed over for more active assignments. When she became a watcher, she thought it meant staying quiet and taking notes.

What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?

A healthy culture values diversity and creativity. Everyone suffers if personal appearance, music or self-expression are condemned.

Emotional mastery is a journey. Heal, forgive, then integrate painful experiences to return to a peaceful center.

Some people are parasitic. The analogy of the sucker balls is a warning about those who intentionally drain others.

Life can feel lonely. Often, the way out of depression is asking others for help.

Exchanging rights for safety and necessities affect a race’s freedom. It’s analogous to the frog in a heated pot of water. Most Dukan aren’t aware what is happening, and most who know feel powerless to change it.

What is the next book in the Galactic Guardian series about, and when will it be available?

I am 75% complete with the first draft of Dyami and the Sigil of Power. It will be available mid-2024.

Dyami returns to the magical world of Assiya as she strives to become a powerful guardian. Armed with the sorcerer’s staff, Dyami must fight the menacing Samael before she graduates from the Guardian Academy. A hundred years have passed, and the king and queen have become much more controlling. Dyami helps four volunteers who must awaken from the forgetting fog and discover their life’s purpose. With the aid of a wise sorcerer, Dyami unknowingly summons the sigil of power. But will it be enough to protect the volunteers from the King and Queen’s insatiable thirst for power and defeat her greatest foe? The people’s fate is in her hands. This is a story about the many faces of power.

A Narnia-like world with a power-hungry queen and king

Dyami is a junior angel, assigned to a planet as watcher where magical beings teach the gentle Dukán fantastic abilities. Like a reporter, she must document events onto her gobi crystal to save them for eternity. She wants to be the perfect watcher, which means not interfering in mortal lives. Her specialty is time travel, which is as easy as breathing.

Her mentor is a shape-shifting dragon. In her travels, she angers a grumpy sorcerer and makes friends with a quirky fairy.

She falls in love with the Dukán who can dance mid-air or grow ripe strawberries in seconds. However, their perfect lives are boring as every day is the same. A visiting king and queen promise them excitement and change if together they build a new domain. As Dyami feared, the royals soon make the Dukán slaves.

Dyami’s heart breaks seeing her new friends suffer, while foreign emotions like fear and anger overwhelm her. If she interferes, she risks being punished and banished from the angelic realm.

This fast-paced adventure uses allegory and fantasy to discuss duality, the Tree of Life, and viewing outside time. It’s perfect for those who enjoyed children’s classics like The Chronicles of Narnia or A Wrinkle in Time.

A Monster Ate My Mom

On an otherwise ordinary morning, in a seemingly ordinary house, a surprise is brewing for one little girl. Her mother’s singing is replaced with an odd growl, oatmeal replaces their customary pancakes, and in a hilariously bizarre twist, her mom munches on her siblings! Has their loving mom been replaced by a monster?

A Monster Ate My Mom is a whimsical tale that shows young readers just how real some dreams can feel. I enjoyed how grounded this story felt, in that, it felt like a dream any child can have, and the response the little girl had to the dream the next morning was heartwarming.

This is a breezy children’s book that is easy to pick up and read as a bedtime story or a fun treat for kids who love to read. The vibrant illustrations are sure to capture young readers’ attention throughout this delightful book.

This charming picture book will have elementary-aged kids feeling a roller coaster of emotions that will leave them tickled and touched in equal measure.

An Inspiring Story

J. B. Auchter Author Interview

The Raindrop follows the journey of a tiny little raindrop who wants only to bring others joy. What was the inspiration for your story?

The inspiration for this story lies entirely on the shoulders of my seven year old son Jonathan, and my five year old daughter Brooke.  On a foggy morning while driving them to school, they both asked me numerous questions about fog, rain, and clouds.  It was during that Q&A session when I felt that God placed an idea on the inside of me. While it is hard to explain, in short, I felt highly encouraged to somehow put this discussion into an inspiring story.

What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?

Life and society as a whole, has a way of wanting to place limitations on us.  At times, these limitations try to give us reasons why we may or may not see a dream happen.  If we are not careful, we all can allow these limitation to take root not just in our thoughts, but also in our hearts.  It is for that very reason, I wanted children to have a story that encourages them to keep pursuing their dreams no matter how big they are.

The art in this book is fantastic. What was the art collaboration process like with illustrator Ayan Mansoori?

Ayan is wonderful and very easy to work with.  With the addition of the new story coming out soon, he will have illustrated 4 of my 5 books.  The art collaboration process begins with me finalizing the books design and layout.  Once that is complete, I begin making a list on each illustration.   In short, these lists are giving Ayan a few basic parameters to work with.  An example of these parameters would be something along the lines of which characters are to be included in the illustration, and what the background should look like.  The rest is completely up to Ayan.  I truly want him to unleash his creativity to the fullest.  I don’t know how he does it, but Ayan works his magic and somehow gives life to my ideas.  Ayan then sends me a simple black and white sketch of each illustration for review.  Once any adjustments are made, he’ll then send me another sketch to review.  After that, it’s all about adding the color and making the pages come alive.

What is the next story that you are working on, and when will it be available?

I am in the final editing steps of the third book in my “Oliver the Oyster” series.  The new story is titled, “Oliver the Oyster and the Lost Lab.”  If you are familiar with my book series, Oliver the oyster and his friends come across a lost Labrador puppy named Mac. The group of friends then go on a fun-filled adventure through their town of Wellfleet to help Mac reunite with his family.  For a teaser, have you ever seen a dog and a crab go into a restaurant’s kitchen only to have it engulfed in a flurry of powdered sugar?  If not, I hope you will give this story a read when it is set to release in the fall of this year.

A tiny drop of water floating in the sky has a big dream to make people happy. Children reading this story will love the adventure that this little raindrop takes in order to see its dreams come true.
