Down A Dark Path
Posted by Literary Titan

The Birth of Vengeance follows a bullied and tormented young man who is given the chance to enact revenge in the form of a vampire. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
I drew inspiration from “Let the right one in” and “Twilight”. I liked the idea of a role reversal to current vampire books. But I wanted the chance for revenge to lie in the hands of the protagonist, rather than relying on someone else. I wanted to show the consequences of revenge. How it can lead down a dark path.
I find the world you created in this novel brimming with possibilities. Where did the inspiration for the setting come from, and how did it change as you were writing?
A number of the settings are a mix of places I have lived in or visited. They say write about what you know. I can’t write about being a vampire, but I can write about being a teenage boy in the UK and the places around it.
They ending changed significantly as I grew attached to one of the characters. But I can’t say which one as it is a spoiler!!
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
The accelerated coming of age story for the main character. The dark path revenge will take you down.
The idea of the young man with the older woman, rather than the other way around in other vampire books. It would make a very different dynamic.
Where does the story go in the next book, and where do you see it going in the future?
It goes on for another 3 books to complete the story arch for Jon. He learns more about vampires, their creation and conflicts.
I am planning a new story arch, and have written some prequel/sequels as a setup.

Take bloody revenge on those who have wronged you, with no one knowing.
That’s the tantalizing offer Jon Harper gets from Thorn, a sultry, mysterious vampire.
An injection of the vampire formula temporarily empowers him with abilities of the dark immortals. In a fury of claws and fangs, he vanquishes his enemies and discovers a forbidden love. But as he delves deeper into the world of vampires, he makes new powerful enemies and realizes the power of the night may change him forever.
With time running out, Jon must learn Thorn’s true intentions before he faces an ultimatum: Forgiveness or Vengeance, Day or Night, Human or Vampire?
With its suspenseful action, intriguing mystery, and passionate romance, fans of vampire fiction will be entranced.
A blend and twist of the vampire lore. “Let the right one in”, “Department 19,” and “Twilight”.
