Open Mind, Discipline, and Comic Levity
Posted by Literary-Titan

All Up in Your Bizness is a collection of stories gathered from your years of working in an office environment; while most are humorous, you include some valuable advice as well. Why was this an important book for you to write?
My goal was two-fold: to provide some sound advice that could be used by employees (especially younger employees) when dealing with workplace challenges. Many of the business books that provide recommendations for workers are “textbook” style in nature. By using satire and wit, I was hoping to better keep the reader’s attention and give them some humor to brighten their day.
What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?
Women employees need to be more assertive in their efforts to lead projects and to be recognized by management for their successes. Many of the frustrations that employees have are shared by others. Peer-to-peer navigation through these frustrations is very helpful. Thankfully, the “Good Old Boys Club” has somewhat diminished. There is a delicate balance between working from home and working at the office. Flexibility and communication are important. My muse is very sassy and may be viewed as my alter-ego.
Have writing and publishing a book changed the way you see yourself?
Minimally. My career included writing many items including speeches, legislation, talking points, and newsletters. I was allowed to know my words were appreciated by others.
What is one thing you hope readers take away from your book?
The workplace is a microcosm of society where there are leaders and worker bees. View the workplace with an open mind, discipline, and comic levity.

A labor of love and giggles, this book is to be enjoyed as a tongue-in-cheek look at many business circumstances, such as the interview, office kiss-ups, performance reviews, working from home, and working in the open office. Practical and useful advice is also provided.

This isn’t just a testament to female resilience; it underscores the unparalleled determination and valor that enable women to surmount life’s hurdles, emerging as luminaries, not just in the corporate arena but also in their personal domains.
Each chapter imparts invaluable lessons, sparks creativity, and fosters awareness. While some tales might move you to tears, they also inspire a profound realization: women, akin to the mythical phoenix, have the capacity to rise from the ashes with enhanced vigor, leading the way with hard work, grace, and the keen intuition we’ve been blessed with. Through their stories, we’re reminded of the boundless possibilities— many of which remain unperceived by many.

Evolve

The inspiring book Evolve: The Lifetime Power of Actions on Your Career Path by Ydalmis Carrasco is a book that strives to encourage women who want to make an imprint on the world professionally. This informative book focuses on achieving goals in the entrepreneurial and corporate world. It begins with a bold promise as Ydalmis Carrasco tells the reader her mission is about helping them excel and that their success will occur quickly. The author shares anecdotes with the reader throughout the book about how she stayed motivated and progressed in her professional life despite various setbacks and circumstances which would have caused many to be mediocre.
This stirring book is about more than inspiration; the author is extremely clear about what it takes to be successful and includes sections about practice and having a routine that suits the reader. Carrasco also contains practical information to help the reader achieve their goals. The reader is provided with a key example of a LinkedIn profile. The profile includes Ydalmis’s work experience and is used as an example of when one might approach a potential employer. The author also shares resources with the reader, including a useful website and the names of helpful apps. I wanted the book to keep going as it is filled with so many pieces of wisdom I could just keep soaking up all the author was offering readers. It’s definitely a book I would read again in the near future. In my opinion, the author created the perfect balance between inspiring the reader and giving practical advice.
Even though this is a short book, it contains vital information. It doesn’t include the unnecessary information that books from the same genre normally would, and the book is written in a conversational way which makes it an easy read. I would recommend Evolve: The Lifetime Power of Actions on Your Career Path to any woman who wants to further their career.
