Oh, No, Bunny – You’re Still Not Funny! (Happy Tails)
Posted by Literary Titan
The return of Yakov – the chaos-causing bunny is back!
Sascha’s twins – Sorcha and Dmitry – have heard tales of their father’s imaginary bunny friend (Yakov) for years, and all they did was laugh at the tales that their father shared with them. At least that’s all they believed it ever would be – just funny stories to entertain.
Imagine their surprise when they meet Yakov in person for themselves. There are not enough words in the English language to prepare anyone for meeting such a wildly crazy hare!
Before they have time to prepare, Yakov is racing out the front door of their home and is set loose upon the neighborhood. Can the two kids stop him from creating more havoc than any one person should ever be allowed?
Everyone thinks at some point in their life that they would like a pet, but absolutely no one is prepared for the unbelievable trouble into which a bunny like Yakov can get! Oh, bunny, here we go again!

Living with grandparents can profoundly impact children, fostering empathy, gratitude, and stronger family bonds while offering rich learning experiences. Vickilynn O’Donnell’s charming book, The Amazing Adventures of Mr. Mac, encapsulates these values through a delightful narrative centered around two loving grandparents and their serene farm life. Mr. Mac resides in a picturesque, bright yellow farmhouse surrounded by lush green grass, perfect for playing and exploring. The farm is home to a variety of endearing animals, including cows, pigs, and Mr. Mac’s faithful dog, Digs. While Mr. Mac enjoys the tranquility of farm life, it is Granny Jay Kay who diligently manages the daily chores. Together, they tend to the animals and meticulously maintain their tools, emphasizing the importance of care and organization.

Dive into the exciting world of Sanaa Chege’s newest release, A Diver Like Me, a fantastic children’s book about Sanaa, a young Black girl with a passion for diving. We follow along as Sanaa learns the ropes, competes in thrilling diving competitions, and faces the unique challenges of being one of the few Black divers in the sport. With tons of practice, dedication, and a great deal of support from her awesome family, Sanaa hopes to inspire other children of color to take the plunge and join the diving community.
The way Sanaa tells her story is engaging and full of heart. Readers can feel her excitement and determination, especially when she describes her first dive and the joy of winning her first competition. In Chapter 3, for example, she shares how thrilled she was to hear her scores and how proud she felt snagging first place. Her enthusiasm is infectious and make readers want to cheer her on every step of the way.
One of the most enjoyable parts of Chege’s story is how she details the importance of representation and inclusion in sports. Sanaa’s thoughts on why there aren’t many Black divers and her dreams of seeing more diversity in the sport are both eye-opening and inspiring. In Chapter 5, she addresses the special connection she feels when she sees other Black families at diving meets, illustrating the importance of visibility and community.
The illustrations by Nils Britwum are just as delightful as the story itself. They capture all the energy and excitement of Sanaa’s adventures, from her focused moments before a dive to the sheer joy of her victories. These vibrant pictures are sure to catch the eyes of younger readers.
A Diver Like Me is a must-read for young readers, especially those who love sports and stories about chasing dreams. It’s perfect for any child who has big goals and wants to see them come true, no matter what. I highly recommend this picture book to young athletes, teachers, and parents who are looking for a story that celebrates diversity and perseverance. Brotherly Bond
Posted by Literary Titan

In Brotherly Bond, by Nicole Atkinson, the adventure begins with five-year-old twins, Alex and Tristan, eagerly asking their mother to visit the bookstore. Their mother agrees, but only after she has put away the groceries. The bookstore is depicted as a magical haven filled with books, toys, and other delights, capturing the twins’ imaginations. Upon arrival, their mother allows them time to explore and discover treasures that spark their interest. Ironically, both boys are drawn to the same farm puzzle, a choice that frustrates Alex because Tristan has a habit of imitating his every move. This leads to a minor conflict. Back at home, Alex’s patience wears thin, resulting in a fight with Tristan. The story then explores whether Alex can empathize with Tristan’s feelings and whether they can resolve their differences and enjoy playing and reading together.
This touching narrative resonates deeply, particularly in its portrayal of sibling dynamics. Tristan’s belief that Alex doesn’t love him, leading to his solitary play, is heart-wrenching. Atkinson adeptly addresses these complex emotions, allowing young readers to relate to the characters’ experiences. The story encourages children to empathize with Alex and Tristan, guiding them through their emotions and fostering understanding and compassion.
Nicole Atkinson’s background as an Early Childhood Educator shines through in her storytelling. Her expertise in engaging and teaching children is evident, making Brotherly Bond both educational and entertaining. She skillfully crafts a story that resonates with young readers, encouraging them to reflect on their own sibling relationships. The vibrant illustrations by Sangi Parvin enhance the narrative, bringing Alex and Tristan’s experiences to life. The detailed and colorful artwork immerses readers in the twins’ world, effectively complementing Atkinson’s storytelling. Parvin’s illustrations capture the essence of the boys’ playful and occasionally contentious interactions, enriching the overall reading experience.
Brotherly Bond is a delightful and insightful story that will captivate both young readers and adults. Atkinson’s ability to weave a compelling narrative while addressing important emotional themes makes this book a valuable addition to children’s literature. Readers will find themselves engrossed in Alex and Tristan’s journey, gaining valuable lessons along the way.

Charlie’s Crabby Day
Posted by Literary Titan

Charlie’s Crabby Day is a delightful tale that highlights the values of friendship and hard work. Joan Enockson introduces us to Charlie, a crab who feels self-conscious living next to Chuck, a bigger, stronger crab with many more friends. As a sand sculpture contest approaches, Charlie decides to prove himself by gathering the best materials to win. He discovers a large shell that he plans to use as the centerpiece of his project, keeping it a secret from others. However, new rules require the sculptures to be made in teams, forcing Charlie to collaborate with Chuck, leading to an unexpected journey of learning and growth.
Charlie is a wonderfully crafted character who evolves throughout the story. He learns from his mistakes, realizes that his assumptions about others are not always correct, and shows great resilience by setting aside his prejudices. Charlie becomes more honest and communicative, gradually making new friends without even realizing it. This character development is why I found his story so compelling.
Joan Enockson’s writing is natural and fluent, imparting valuable life lessons to young readers, such as the importance of listening, sharing ideas, and understanding that teamwork, while challenging, can lead to achieving great goals. The detailed descriptions in this children’s book make it easy to visualize the scenes, emphasizing emotions, allowing readers to connect with Charlie on multiple levels. The illustrations are artistic and of high quality, adding charm to the story.
Charlie navigates various situations as he dares to try new things, faces his fears, and overcomes each challenge. Charlie’s Crabby Day is a fun and engaging chapter book that teaches children the importance of letting go of pride and shyness and encouraging them to embrace every opportunity for play and learning.
