Our life is full of challenges. I’ve always been thinking about the best way to live a well balanced life and enjoy ultimate happiness. With years of reading and thinking, I finally figured out this brand-new philosophical framework about a balanced life: a life that’s not just healthy, but financially secure, wise in decision-making, and above all, brimming with happiness. I’m eager to share this great discovery with people. This is the most important book that I would like to share with people, and I believe it can change many people’s life.

The book emphasizes the importance of real-world application. Can you share some specific moments when you applied these guidelines in your own life and saw a significant impact?

The wisdom of the book comes from my own experiences. When I was young, I never saved money, I just spent most money, and there were no investments at all. Once I understand how important is personal finance and investment knowledge, I started to save and invest money regularly. I have good savings now, but I can be much better by investing earlier. Time really matters in investment. With more savings, I feel financially secure, and can focus more on improving health, expanding vision, and enjoying life.

You encourage readers to approach life with curiosity and a sense of wonder. What activities or practices do you personally recommend to cultivate this mindset daily?

To enjoy the ultimate happiness, it is important that you experience different activities in daily life. Our lives are filled with endless possibilities and combinations of activities. However, all fun activities have diminishing returns. Only novelty and the unknown can bring consistent joy and happiness. Many people may underestimate how lifelong learning contributes to their happiness. Learning doesn’t have to be a chore; it can be a thrilling adventure. Dive into subjects that pique your curiosity. Whether it’s learning a new language, delving into history, or exploring the wonders of science, knowledge can be a fun and enriching pursuit.

If readers could take away just one key lesson from Mastering Life, what would you want it to be?

The key lesson introduced here is the ultimate happiness theory. The purpose of the book is to help people solve challenges in life and enjoy more happiness. Firstly, you need to have a purpose for life, define your central motivating aims, your “reason to get up in the morning.” Secondly, you need to live a balanced life. Balance is not limited to work and life but extends to four crucial aspects: health, wealth, wisdom, and fun. Striking a balance among these elements is essential for a purposeful and happy life. Thirdly, you need solve problems in life as early as possible. Problems in life can create stress and unhappiness. To achieve the ultimate happiness, it’s essential to prevent problems or resolve them promptly. Developing good habits related to health, finance, and problem-solving can help you lead a happier life.

Throughout my fitness career I mentored people from all walks of life, and I had the pleasure to be part of their journey achieving some truly amazing goals. I have also witnessed clients, friends, colleagues, and strangers struggling to get on the right path and stay the course towards their health and fitness goals.
Unfortunately, we live in the world filled with life challenges making our dreams harder to fulfil.

With all the conflicting advice out there, I found myself driven to present a fresh perspective. And that’s why, ‘My Health & Fitness Journey’ is quite different to most fitness books and journals. It’s not just about logging workouts and meals; it’s my way of extending a virtual hand to mentor people through the ups and downs of their journey.

My goal from the start was simple, share the lessons I learned, help people cut through the chaos of today’s fitness world, offer a no-nonsense practical approach providing clarity, a touch of humour, whole lot of guidance, and be that friendly voice cheering them on as they achieve their wellbeing goals.

In your book, you address common mistakes people make on their journey to better health. What mistake did you make on your journey that had the greatest impact on your later success?

My own fitness journey began about 25 years ago, and I’ve made many mistakes throughout. The one biggest mistake was to believe that I can achieve any goals if I simply put in the hard work. Just like many, I viewed fitness and nutrition as a one-size-fits-all. In reality, there is no single perfect diet or exercise routine. We are all unique in our biological makeup and requirements. Additionally, I failed to regularly assess and evaluate my exercise and nutrition strategies. Only much later, I realized that having the knowledge about my body is key to everything. The more I understood myself physically, the clearer I became mentally, and the better I felt emotionally. My personal journey into discovering my own unique needs was a perfect starting point.

I have written my book based on the principle that we are all unique, and the journey should match everyone individually, with easy-to-follow practical guidance and motivations. For that reason, My Health & Fitness Journey contains two distinct parts, Part 1, My Journal and Part 2, My Mentor, that go hand in hand. They go beyond just documenting one’s journey; together they serve as a roadmap to success.

What do you hope is one thing readers take away from My Health & Fitness Journey?

My book will take you through a self-discovery journey. Take the time to learn about yourself, your values, beliefs, and motivations, as well as understanding how this shapes the decisions you make in life. By engaging in self-reflection, embracing new experiences and personal growth, cultivating mindfulness, and seeking support; you can uncover your true essence and live a more fulfilling life. As an individual seeking optimal health, it’s up to you to discover what diet and lifestyle suits you best. While it may take some extra time and effort, it’ll be worth it in the long run.

Remember, the path to better health, fitness, and self-discovery is unique for everyone, and it requires patience, self-compassion, and an open mind. I’m currently working on partnering with One Tree Planted; a non-for-profit organization focused on global reforestation and supporting World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as a ‘Partner in Conservation.’ I believe it’s important we give back nature its resources, and protect communities, wildlife, and the places in which we live. New Jump Swing Healthy Aging And Athletic Nutrition Program is part memoir and part nutritional guide; you share with readers your personal journey and provide detailed research to help back up your claims. Why was this an important book for you to write?

As someone with a knee disease at age 12 as well as chronic respiratory issues, I became very interested in personal health and rehabilitation. In the process of seeking out health information, I saw a consistent pattern of minorities having the highest rates of chronic American illnesses. I did not see a great deal of information within my community on this. I was the student representative for a school of philosophy and health called the Tree of Life located in Harlem, NY. Working with advisors from that school, I sought to write a book on health using many of the books from the school as well as my own research that would make people aware of the high rates of illness that affected them. I also wanted to establish my program of whole food plant-based nutrition as a new form of vegetarianism. To that end, I have written 3 books. The Philosophy of Divine Nutrition and The Way of PDN: The Ultimate Vegetarian Athletic Nutrition Program. These two books were used by me to break Guinness world records in public speaking. New Jump Swing Healthy Aging and Athletic Nutrition Program is the revised and updated version of those two books reflecting the latest research in healthy aging, sports nutrition, and motivation.

How much research did you undertake for this book, and how much time did it take to put it all together?

I have been researching health, fitness, and nutrition since I was in elementary school due to my own personal health issues and interest in science. My first book was written in 1977 and my second in 1986. I continue to keep up with this research. This is the third edition of New Jump Swing Healthy Aging and Athletic Nutrition Program.

What were some goals you set for yourself as a writer in this book?

To impress upon the individual the ability to have good health and fitness with a regular lifestyle.
To encourage those seeking athletic performance to go in an all-natural direction, as opposed to drugs.

What is one thing you hope readers take away from your story of gaining better health?

Improvement in your health is possible with education and persistence.

From this book I discovered tips on how to wear my perfume, the most alluring scents for my personality, and styling do’s and don’ts. The author also includes the history of perfumes. The book also includes biographies of some world-famous creators of perfume icons like Coco Chanel, Estée Lauder, Michael Edwards, and Thierry Mugler. Seeing how they made a mark in the world of fragrance was fascinating.

Elias’s “Pathfinders”, as he calls the individuals he interviewed for the book, provide beautiful nuggets of wisdom, as well as practical (often humorous) advice to live by. Their inspirational stories will help you take a look at your life and recognize where you can or should make adjustments to live a more comfortable, more harmonious life with those around you.

This book helps to demystify death and growing old and remove some of the fear by helping one become more comfortable with the concepts. Each of the Seven Graces that Elias discusses has valuable practical application to help fortify the mind, strengthen our beliefs and spirituality, and reinforce the body as much as is physically possible as we age, through advice regarding dieting and exercise.

Initially, I thought this book might be more specifically geared towards older readers, but I find it has given me a lot to think about, as well. I don’t think age need be a deterrent when considering whether or not to read this book. Elias has structured this book and curated his content in such a way that even if you’re a younger reader, this book can address questions, concerns, or even fears you might have about the future, about growing older, and about the finality of death and how to accept that. I also think this book is a great read for anyone who has an older someone in their life that they want to help, as they could easily share the inspirational words and advice provided by these elder Pathfinders (or just lend them the book next!) And it’s not just the personal stories of elders, Elias provides a lot of actual scientific research based on the findings of some very interesting studies from a plethora of scientific professionals. In some cases, Elias even provides links to some online resources for further independent study.

The Seven Graces of Ageless Aging is a quick and easy read with sections you will want to bookmark and come back to later, with several funny anecdotes from the Pathfinders that you will want to share with those around you. A humorous but practical guide on living your best life.
