The Good Guys Don’t Always Win
Posted by Literary_Titan

Revenge I Will Have follows a former Navy SEAL who is recalled to active duty when a terrorist is discovered to be working with his ex-girlfriend and nemesis. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
I’ve seen this story so many times; people want to turn the page on certain chapters of their lives and move on; they think they are done with certain situations, whether it’s a job, role, or relationship. Then they find out the situation at hand, albeit a job role or relationship, isn’t done with them, and they are forced to confront the situation before they can move on.
How did you come up with the idea for the antagonist in this story, and how did it change as you wrote?
Readers often judge the worth of a hero by the size of the villain he or she has to confront. To that end and to make the story come alive, Jake has to confront a clever, cunning adversary with nearly unlimited financial resources and, more importantly, a burning hatred for all things Jake believes in; the antagonist is consumed with hatred and has the capability and means to realize his vision. I wanted the outcome of the story to be in doubt for the reader because of my realization that in the real world, the good guys don’t always win.
What experience in your life has had the biggest impact on your writing?
It’s really been my husband and the life he has pursued. There is never a dull moment, coupled with the fact he’s never hesitant to call BS on people and confront things he believes are wrong. Also, moving to the United States from the UK has really opened my eyes up to the complexities of the world.
Can you tell us where the book goes and where we’ll see the characters in the next book?
The characters will continue to evolve and confront challenges that are innate to human nature, some of which include all-encompassing jealousy that turns into hatred and betrayal. The reader will also be exposed to new characters from Jake’s past.

Dealing With A Broken Relationship
Posted by Literary Titan

Sleeping with a Wall Street Banker follows a couple in New York whose relationship is threatened by the man’s ex-girlfriend. What was the initial idea behind this story, and how did that transform as you were writing the novel?
Foremost, the book is based on a true story. The catalyst for this book was my own experience dealing with a broken relationship and the search to understand why and how it happened. That said, I weave real people into my characters so….my husband and the life he led were an inspiration. From Main Street to Wall Street and London, as well as adventures in between coupled with the individuals he’s encountered – good, bad and really bad transformed this story.
Jake, Alice, and Jessica are all interesting characters in their own way. What character did you enjoy writing for? Was there one that was more challenging to write for?
Yes, Jake, Alice, and Jessica are all interesting characters in their own way. I enjoyed writing for Jessica. I found it more challenging because her character is afflicted with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The writing challenge is due to the complexity and depth of the condition. DID, previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder, is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality states, each with its unique pattern of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the environment and self. It requires a nuanced understanding of psychology to accurately portray these switching identities, which can vary in age, gender, knowledge, behaviors, and even physical characteristics. Plus, any misrepresentation runs the risk of propagating harmful stereotypes or misinformation, adding another dimension of responsibility to the task. As such, writing a character with DID demands not only extensive research and sensitivity but also literary skill to convey the character’s experiences authentically and respectfully.
Do you write more by logic or intuition, or some combination of the two? Can you summarize your writing process?
As a writer of a psychological thriller my writing style combines logical detail with intuitive understanding of human emotions. This genre demands extensive plotting, neat narrative structures, and intricate detailing, all of which lean on my logical faculties. It’s crucial for me to build suspense, introduce unexpected twists, and maintain an eerie, tense atmosphere with a solid logical foundation, ensuring the story remains plausible to keep readers engrossed.
A psychological thriller delves into the depths of the human psyche, exploring motives, hidden fears, and quiet suspicions that drive their actions. This requires an intuitive understanding of human nature, emotions, and responses under stressful situations. Intuition becomes crucial when defining character motivations and reactions, painting vivid emotional panoramas, and creating moral dilemmas that add complexity to the story.
In essence, I employ both logic and intuition, a balanced blend of rigorous plot construction with insightful peeks into character minds. The writing style usually involves precise, evocative language, intended to create an immersive atmosphere and push readers to question and speculate until the mystery unravels.
Jake Logan is an extraordinary character that I think has more stories to tell. Where does the next book in the series take him?
Mired in grief over the recent murder of his girlfriend, Alice Francis, at the hands of his psychotic ex-lover, Jessica, former Navy SEAL turned Wall Street banker Jake Logan is suddenly called back into action. While his team’s primary target is internationally known terrorist financier Asyd Omar Batdadi, a.k.a. “the Bat,” the mission soon becomes personal for Jake when he learns that Jessica — a dangerous woman with dissociative identity disorder — is wrapped up in the plot. In fact, Jake’s connection to Jessica is the very reason he has been reactivated as a SEAL.
Their efforts to capture or kill Batdadi and his associates soon take Jake and his fellow SEALs to various locations in Europe and the United States, but the wily terrorist manages to elude them at every turn. In the midst of their hunt, they learn that, with Jessica’s help, Batdadi is plotting a bold terrorist strike on American soil.
For Batdadi, his terrorist act is a form of revenge for America’s interference in the lives of his Middle Eastern brethren, a chance to put himself in the “terrorist hall of fame” alongside names like Osama Bin Laden. For Jessica, her move to help Batdadi is the ultimate form of payback against the journalists whom she holds responsible for ruining her life and her future with Jake.
Battling a ticking clock, international criminal masterminds, and his own grief, Jake strives to transform his troubled relationship with Jessica from a liability into an asset, his only hope of saving thousands of innocent lives — not to mention his soul.

Sleeping with a Wall Street Banker
Posted by Literary Titan

Sleeping with a Wall Street Banker, penned by the accomplished author Marlene Morgan, masterfully intertwines a convoluted romantic narrative between the resolute lawyer Alice Francis and the enigmatic Wall Street magnate Jake Logan. Alice serendipitously encounters and falls passionately for Jake at a juncture when her life seems to lack, yet silently craves, this kind of romantic intrusion. Unforeseen circumstances, however, expose Alice to undiscovered facets of Jake’s persona, leading to a crucible when Jake’s past re-emerges in the avatar of a resentful ex-lover. Alice consequently finds herself confronting the agonizing dilemma of choosing between her ardor for Jake and the necessity of self-preservation.
From its inception, Sleeping with a Wall Street Banker guarantees to ferry its readers through a riveting emotional journey. The narrative’s magnetic pull submerges us into Alice and Jake’s stormy affair, with Morgan’s deft storytelling maintaining a tension that teeters on a razor’s edge. Regardless, the sheer intensity of the tale exceeds all anticipatory imaginations. The novel commences with a deceptive aura of a serene, fairy-tale romance between Alice and Jake, only to morph rapidly into a haunting nightmare punctuated by a series of traumatic episodes.
A standout feature is the complexity and depth of the characters. Alice’s internal turmoil, torn between her love for Jake and her existential needs, renders her an incredibly relatable and empathetic protagonist. Conversely, Jake emerges as a complex character grappling with his internal demons, which imbues the plot with additional layers of suspense and intrigue. Morgan’s evocative and immersive writing style allows readers to viscerally experience the roller coaster of emotional upheavals that Alice endures, cultivating profound empathy for her journey through love, betrayal, and self-rediscovery.
For enthusiasts of romantic sagas with an unexpected, suspenseful twist, I recommend Marlene Morgan’s Sleeping with a Wall Street Banker. It offers an engrossing reading experience sure to captivate and exhilarate in equal measure.

A Partner For Revenge
Posted by Literary Titan
Revenge I Will Have follows Navy SEAL Jake as he’s tasked with a new mission, but finds his psychotic ex-girlfriend embroiled in the mission’s objective. What was your inspiration for the setup to this thrilling novel?
At the conclusion of my first book, “Sleeping with a Wall Street Banker,” I found myself thinking about both Jake and Jessica. Where would Jake go? How would he react? What would Jessica do as a criminal on the run but also burning with hatred for those she feel betrayed her. Jake reacted by retreating to where he felt safe, a refuge. Jessica, consumed by hate, by seeking out a partner for revenge. Both characters were catalysts for the plot, similar to putting two combustible agents together, you eventually get a reaction. In this case Jessica caused the reaction that set the plot in motion because of her blind hatred
Jake is an interesting and well developed character. What were some ideas that guided his character development?
No one wants to read about a wimp or a sad self-absorbed character who is moping around, crying in their beer. Jake had misfortune fall upon him and he pulled himself up, like people do every day because they don’t have a choice. People are intrigued by characters with strong personalities, their strengths, flaws and idiosyncrasies. The reader can relate to them because they have flaws and quirks as well. I’m surrounded by strong personalities, most notably my husband who also has more than his share of lovable and funny idiosyncrasies
Jessica and her emotional issues were consistently intriguing. What were some themes you wanted to capture in her character and relationship with Jake?
Jessica allowed her emotional issues to overwhelm her to the point she was no longer in control. She thought she was pulling the strings but in the end, she was the one who was being used. Her hate blinded her to see through the obvious
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I’m actually formulating a sequel to Revenge. Without giving away the plot, the Bat’s terrorist network, funded by a foreign government, is planning retribution against Jake by staging what could be a cataclysmic attack on the US while also targeting members of Jake’s family for death, specifically his invalid mother and his brother who is a Roman Catholic priest. There are geopolitical twists and turns and new plot angles that will have the reader on edge. The Bat’s friends find they bought off more than they could chew by going after Jake’s family.

Revenge I Will Have
Posted by Literary Titan
Revenge I Will Have is a physiological thriller that is an entertaining and stimulating novel with intense drama, violence and action. The characters are vibrant, energetic and are the source of some surprising turn of events.
Jessica is a well developed character that I absolutely hated to love. I could never tell what she was doing until the last minute. She was an ambitious go-getter who always had a witty remark ready. She, however, had some ugly traits that made me loathe her in the best possible way. Jessica’s jealousy and mean spirited nature made her seem evil. She was the perfect antagonist.
Jake Logan was an ex-Navy SEAL turned Wall Street banker. He had previously been romantically involved with Jessica but the relationship had not worked. To say she didn’t take it well would be an understatement. Jessica ends up killing Jake’s lover. This tears Jake apart but he’s eventually called back to his former work station. The Navy SEAL has a new mission, to capture the terrorist enabler, Asyd Omar Batdadi. Through a serendipitous turn of events, the man Jake and team are hunting down has relations with Jessica. Jessica had been approached with a message for Asyd Omar Batdadi. A deranged ex, a Navy Seal, terrorists! This is a perfect setup to a thrilling novel that used outlandish turn of events to propel detailed characters into some nail biting situations.
Jessica’s was to deliver Wall Street to Batdadi and help him get other targets in the U.S. By doing this, she would achieve two things at once, satisfy Batdadi and get revenge on the journalists who ruined her life by giving her unkind reviews. This cat and mouse race with the SEAL’s, Batdadi and Jessica takes the reader to different locations around the world. Virtually traveling with the team was an exciting experience as the I had the impression of being in the action with the team. The author’s vivid description of Batdadi helped me paint a clear image of the man. I could visualize the face of the 6’3” fifty-year-old extreme Islamist who had undergone reconstructive surgery. Although he seemed typical of radical Islamist caricatures, I would have liked to have seen something different. Other characters like Natasha, Alex, Ambrose, and Clint Morris were perfectly portrayed and ingeniously developed.
Revenge and vengeance are major themes in the book and the crazy turn of events towards the end of the story leaves one questioning how far Jake will go for either. Marlene Morgan’s book is a fantastic read for drama, military action, and thriller enthusiasts.
