A Magical Tale About Leprechauns
Posted by Literary Titan

The Unluckiest Leprechaun by Far follows an unlucky leprechaun who tries to get his luck back by kidnapping an especially lucky human girl. What was the inspiration for your story?
I didn’t want the usual capture a Leprechaun and get wishes and money from the fairy kind of story. I was trying to think of something different, and the idea of switching the story up and having the Leprechaun get his way in the end appealed to me. The usual kind of story has been overdone. I wanted something different, and that’s when this lovely tale popped into my head. It was the right kind of ornery that appealed to my sense of humor.
The art in this book is fantastic and brings the story to life. What was the art collaboration process like with illustrator Christina Cartwright?
Christina’s talent is amazing. This is our second book worked together, and I feel she elevated her artwork even more so than the last time we worked together. Her attention to detail was truly sublime – she made my words on the page come to life. There really seemed to be some magic at work with how this book came together. At one point, I even asked Christina if she had a little bit of Irish in her, which she admitted she did, and I wasn’t surprised. I, of course, have an Irish ancestry as well, so is it any wonder that two American “Irish” lasses came up with a magical tale about Leprechauns? Our collaboration together was truly magical.
What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?
I do realize that I used some slightly bigger words than are traditionally found in a children’s book, but I also subscribe to the belief of pushing a person’s vocabulary. You don’t grow verbally and mentally if you are not exposed to new words. I also felt strongly about bringing the notion of karma into the story. If you are a good person with a good heart, then you have the power to change the world as long as you embrace kindness and goodwill towards others as Brianna extended to Liam. Our highest purpose in life should always be to help others whenever we are able to do so.
What will the next book in the Happy Tails series be about, and when will it be published?
The next book in the series is about a pet bunny. Hopefully it teaches the concept of always being kind to our furry friends and to be mindful of what they truly need to not only survive, but thrive in this world. It should be out by August at the latest.

Ask Liam the Leprechaun – his family’s luck has been low for years, but all of that is about to change. Turnabout is fair play. If humans can capture Leprechauns for their magic, then why can’t a crafty Leprechaun capture a human for her overabundance of luck?
Such are the adventures of Liam and Brianna – two lonely souls connecting as friends in a way that’s truly magical. They learn that luck freely shared is luck that is never-ending.

Magical And Educational

Find Me in Time: Meeting Columbus follows a group of friends with a magical treehouse who travel through time to see history take place in real life. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
The concept of time travel has always been fascinating to me, and I wanted to create a story that would not only entertain children but also educate them about important historical events. The idea of a magical treehouse that transports a group of friends to different eras seemed like the perfect way to make the story both magical and educational.
What was your inspiration for the characters and their relationships?
The characters’ relationships were inspired by my experiences growing up and my relationships with my peers. I wanted to show how a group of friends can work together to solve problems and achieve their goals. As society becomes increasingly diverse, I sought to reflect this reality with a wide range of relatable characters that could provide valuable insights and knowledge.
What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?
Accurately portraying the historical events that my characters experienced was of utmost importance to me. To achieve this, I researched the era extensively and consulted with historians to ensure the details were precise. Moreover, I underscored the significance of learning from the past and how historical events influence contemporary society.
Furthermore, I intended to introduced students to the conflicting versions of history. It is crucial for children to comprehend that history is not always clear-cut, and that diverse perspectives and interpretations can shape our perceptions of the past. By delving into different viewpoints, my objective is to encourage critical thinking and instill a greater appreciation for the intricacy of history.
What will the next book in that series be about and when will it be published?
The next book in the series will take the characters to 1961 to explore the first lunar landing. I’m excited to take readers on this journey and show them what it was like to witness such a historic moment. The book is scheduled to be published in August 2023, so keep an eye out for it!

A normal day of hide-and-seek turns into a discovery of a lifetime when five young friends are transported back in time after finding a secret clubhouse at the top of a sycamore tree. Dubbing themselves the Tree House Club, Ashley, Emma, Keith, Aaron, and Harry learn that events of the past didn’t necessarily unfold the way they learned in school.
The treehouse has magical abilities that take Ashley and her friends to Guanahani in 1492, a time the kids requested to witness Christopher Columbus’s first arrival on his voyage to the New World!
There, the friends—dubbed the Tree House Club—meet the kind and generous Taino Lukku-Cairo tribespeople who welcome their new visitors with food and gifts.
It isn’t long before the Taino chief, Tiburon, and the Tree House Club friends see three sailing ships approaching. With history on their side, the kids realize it is the famed explorer, Christopher Columbus, who quickly makes his claim for the Taino’s native land for the Queen of Spain.
The kids soon learn that what their history books did not teach them was some of the lesser-known facts about Columbus, his greedy intentions in Guanahani—or San Salvador, as he named it—and his poor treatment of the humble Taino people.
But the children’s friendships with the Taino put their own lives in danger from the European colonists. Will the treehouse save them in time? Order your copy now and find out!

Rediscover The Magic And Wonder
Posted by Literary Titan

The Inspiring World of Ella Rose La Fleur follows a six-year-old girl who loves horses and travels as she prepares to visit her grandma in Paris. What was the inspiration for your story?
I wrote The Inspiring World of Ella Rose La Fleur during the pandemic, which was such a dark time in history, especially for children. Children could no longer attend school and interact with their friends, and their world became very isolated. I created precocious 6-year-old Ella Rose La Fleur as a beacon of light for young people and their parents. Viewing the world through Ella Rose’s eyes allows us to rediscover the magic and wonder in everyday life.
The Inspiring World of Ella Rose La Fleur inspired a series of animated videos on my YouTube channel, The Adventures of Ella Rose La Fleur. These videos help raise awareness and money for The Pinky Swear Foundation, a wonderful charity that helps children battling cancer. My favorite video is Ella Rose La Fleur, You Are Enough! This video sheds light on childhood depression and the importance of love, acceptance, and inclusivity for all children.
Is there anything about Ella Rose that came from yourself or your life experiences?
My husband and I have two grown children, a 26-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old son. Some of Ella Rose’s interests were inspired by events in our own lives, such as rescuing an adorable calico cat named Jesse and traveling, especially to the beach and France. My husband’s family is French Catholic, and I am of Eastern European Jewish descent. We have always blended our family holidays and traditions, which has resulted in a rich cultural experience for our children.
What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?
My goal in writing the book was to encourage children to talk about their feelings and to learn the importance of forming healthy relationships with their family, friends, teachers, and pets. One of my favorite poems in the book is You Can’t Be Sad On Your Bike!, which explores grief and the importance of comforting and supporting your friends during difficult times. Please Remember You Are Enough! explores feelings of sorrow and inadequacy and explains to children that we all have these days, and sometimes we just need a hug to realize everything will be okay.
Can you tell us what the second book will be about and when it will be available for fans to purchase?
The second book in The Adventures of Ella Rose La Fleur series will be Landon La Fleur, I Love You So! This book will tell the story of Ella Rose’s little brother, Landon, and will show the world through the eyes of a young boy. Landon La Fleur, I Love You So! will be available in approximately one year.

Six-year-old Ella Rose La Fleur is a precocious girl who loves horses and traveling. In this unique children’s book, Ella Rose prepares for her first plane ride to visit her grandma in Paris. Along the way, she learns lessons on adventures and friendships that shape her world and teach her the importance of caring for others and living life to the fullest—even if she gets into a bit of trouble.
After she arrives at her grandma’s, she has so much fun exploring historic sites and trying new foods. The book culminates with a surprise that will forever change Ella Rose and her family’s lives. Life is always exciting for Ella Rose, who has a heart of gold and a head filled with dreams.
Have fun with these charming adventures of a little girl in verse.

This Fun And Crazy Adventure
Posted by Literary Titan

Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Take An Out of this World Adventure follows two cute characters on an educational space adventure. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
The inspiration has come from bedtime stories with my three Children twin girls Amelia & Emerson (17) and son Cambell (11). We would make up this fun and crazy adventures of Susie & Johnny for years, they couldn’t wait to hear more.
What educational aspects were vital for you to include in this children’s book?
I always make sure that each book has some educational element to keep children reading and parents as well. Each book has something new that relates to the adventure they are experiencing. I want teacher, parents, grandparents and any one who is seeking a children’s book series that we want to make reading fun and fundamental.
What are some of your inspirations as a writer?
I love writing, and I get inspired daily by hearing stories, talking to my friends and family, and brainstorming with other authors. However, my kids inspire me the most – remembering all these adventures and my son keeps me in check with remembering to bring in their friends.
Where does the next book in the series take the characters?
Now that’s a secret – each book ends with a clue for the next book, I want to keep kids guessing and imagining where Susie & Johnny may go next. They may be right or may give me a new idea for future books, right now we are working on a 12 book series – the third book will be out this week.

It’s Ok To Be Different

Books for Benjamin follows a little purple worm who loves to read and goes on an exciting adventure to learn about libraries and books. What was the inspiration for the adventure Benjamin goes on?
The idea for Books For Benjamin came about while visiting the Library of Congress. I thought it would be great to gave a character that loves books so much that he or she has to go on a quest to find them. I thought the LOC as a housing for the world’s greatest depository of item (not only books) would be an ideal setting. On the visit, I learned about Thomas Jefferson’s contribution to the library and his famous quote,”I cannot live without books.” This inspired me to create Benjamin, a bookworm (only the name stems from Benjamin Franklin, another who cherished learning and reading). Benjamin and books go well together. I also like the alliteration in Books and Benjamin and used that in the title.
The art in this book is fantastic. What was the art collaboration process like with illustrator Uliana Barabash?
Working with Uliana was such a great experience that started under difficult circumstances. She is from Ukraine and the war had just broken out as we started the project. With all going around her I was amazed and the beautiful illustrations she produced. My wife and I loved her colors from the start and how she captured the expressions I was looking for. I like to sketch and paint as well but have tremendous repect for how picture book illustrators who have studied the art like Uliana has can put together a scene. First, she created a digital story map of the entire book and I felt priviledged to be included in any changes. Next, she created each detailed skecth before painting the color digitally. One great surprise, was that Uliana took it upon heself to paint the worm in purple. I don’t know why, but I always pictured him in true to life colors which my wife hated. Once I saw the result, I was blown away. Uliana has made my character become approachable for kids. I cannot thank her enough!
What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?
I wanted to instill in kids that it’s ok to be different and that following one’s passions is a great thing, even when there may be some road blocks along the way.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
A picture book biography called, Mother To Elephants, about a lady who rescued orphan elephants. Sadly, she passed away around three years back, but her daughters and grandchildren are continuing her mission. I am hoping it can come out around Spring of 2023.

Benjamin would rather read about adventures in a giant peach than eat one!
Unlike his family members who are happily munching away on scraps, Benjamin is a different kind of worm. He loves to read. Yet, all he finds are old newspapers and magazines full of tomato splotches. Not one to give up on his dreams, Benjamin sets off on a quest to find “real” books.
Witty illustrations by Uliana Barabash are a great accompaniment to this delightful story written by R.G. de Rouen.
Join Benjamin on his book hunting adventure and watch your little ones search for Benjamin’s famous signature in their books!

Interesting Human Body Questions
Posted by Literary Titan

Nurse Florence(R): Why and How Do We Sneeze? follows three friends who learn from the nurse about sneezing using medical terminology in a way children can understand. What was the inspiration for your story?
The Nurse Florence series explores general science concepts (i.e. sneezing) and diseases so that families can understand how their body better. We’re going to explore all interesting human body questions so it was time to do one about sneezing.
What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?
I wanted kids to understand what kinds of things may cause a sneeze in their environment so that’s why we discussed allergens. I also wanted kids to understand the complexity of a sneeze so that’s why we included things about the brain and some muscles to show the interaction that goes within the body. Our bodies are amazing and I want to share the excitement of human physiology with young readers.
What were some goals you set for yourself as a writer in this book?
My goal for every Nurse Florence book is to make sure that the writing is understandable at an elementary level. My nine year old daughter is one of my editors and she gives me the thumbs up before publishing any of these books.
What is the next book in the Nurse Florence series that you are working on, and when will it be available?
Dow Creative Enterprises is publishing a new book almost every week. Check our website to see a picture of them all. We are about to publish Nurse Florence, What is Arthritis? which will help kids understand what their loved ones may be going through. Our goal is to publish around 500 books in the series by the end of 2026 where a family would buy the disease books that affect their family so that everyone can feel more informed about their health. Even parents are reporting learning something new in every book.

Appreciate All Life Has To Offer
Posted by Literary Titan

“I Like Mud” is a collection of poetry written by Margaret Grote about the simple joys of everyday life to remind readers to appreciate each day and enjoy the small moments. What inspired you to publish your mother’s work 17 years later?
It had been in the back of my mind for quite a while. Several years ago I had the idea that it would be cool to have 1st and 2nd graders illustrate the poems with their artwork. I had an entire class of 2nd graders do illustrations for two of the poems with the idea that I would pick the best ones to use. It was a nice idea but the illustrations were not what I had hoped. Then a couple years ago my cousin visited and I showed her the poems. She was excited about the idea of doing some illustrations. And you can see the results. I think she did an amazing job of capturing the sentiments in the poems.
What was the collaboration process with your cousin and illustrator Marcia Wheelan Coles like to bring this collection of poetry to life?
It was great. She showed me her work in progress and I gave my comments. But the book is Marcia’s accomplishment much more than mine. I contributed my mother’s poetry and she took off with it. We originally had 27 poems, each with its own page. Because of the awesomeness of the illustrations, I suggested we do a full spread for each poem and do two books. So the next book will be out shortly with the other half of the poems.
What is one of your favorite memories that come to mind when reading the poems your mom left for you to publish?
Nothing too specific, but my mom passed along her love of dogs to me. So the “My Dog” poem is especially emotional to me, thinking back on a couple of the dogs I grew up with and loved with all my heart.
What is one thing that you hope readers take away from “I Like Mud”?
To take the time to appreciate all life has to offer. It is easy to take so much for granted. Children are better at living in the moment and getting joy from things like the ice cream truck, or the beach, or playing in the mud. That ability disappears for most adults, although I think many grandparent-age adults are able to regain that. I know it is a children’s book but I believe I Like Mud has as much to offer adults as it does to children.

I Like Mud: and other poems for the young and young-at-heart
Posted by Literary Titan

“I Like Mud” presents an enchanting and heartening anthology of succinct verse, offering reflections on quotidian experiences and activities while contemplating more profound questions about our place among the stars. The effortlessly readable nature of this compilation makes it an excellent choice for burgeoning readers, as well as a delightful bedtime read for parents to share with their young children, who will find the concepts presented in the poems easily comprehensible.
The accompanying illustrations are nothing short of magnificent, infusing each poem with vivacity and portraying an array of diverse characters enacting the scenes described in the verse. The captivating, sketched artwork is bound to ignite a child’s imagination, facilitating the connection between the poetic text and the visual representation. This harmonious fusion serves as an invaluable aid in acquainting young minds with the world of poetry and its potential for deeper meaning.
The outstanding lyrical poems traverse a multitude of themes from the simple joys of everyday life, such as reveling in the aftermath of rain, frolicking in mud, cherishing paternal love or canine companionship, and the elation of spotting the ice cream vendor.
“I Like Mud” is a delightful collection of poems that will undoubtedly captivate and enchant children. I recommend this anthology to parents seeking to introduce their little ones to the beauty of poetry or to anyone in pursuit of exceptional verse that celebrates life and its myriad wonders.
