To Gaze Upon a Darkened Cloud
Posted by Literary Titan

To Gaze Upon a Darkened Cloud is a genre-blending speculative novel that unfolds in a world gripped by mysterious and deadly cloud storms. The story follows multiple characters: Michelle, a climatologist estranged from her rural roots; Juliana, a devout Ghanaian woman caught between duty and faith; Jonah, her husband, in desperate search of her; and a secretive religious Order that believes the storms herald a spiritual transition. As lives unravel across continents, each narrative thread explores personal identity, faith, science, and the unsettling unknown. The plot moves between intimate domestic scenes and globe-spanning catastrophes, building tension while deepening emotional connections to its characters.
The writing pulled me in right away. The pacing is quick but never rushed, the dialogue natural and sharp. I felt Michelle’s anxiety and her frustration with her family’s resistance to science. I also found myself rooting for Jonah in a way that surprised me. His grief felt real, his determination grounded. The world-building was eerie and imaginative, especially the strange rain and the blue-light phenomenon. The author avoids info-dumps, instead letting the details creep in slowly, which gives the whole book a simmering kind of suspense. The switches in point of view added richness rather than confusion. I never felt lost, only curious and sometimes a little scared.
Still, parts of the story made me uncomfortable in a good way. The religious Order, with its creepy obsession over “the Guide Couple,” got under my skin. The teen marriages, the patriarchal structures, and the way belief was used to justify control, it all hit me hard, especially because it didn’t feel exaggerated. It felt disturbingly real. And yet, the book didn’t beat me over the head with judgment. It left space for complexity. Even Elder Ferguson, one of the most devout, was filled with doubt. That tension between faith and reason runs through every part of the book. What would I do if I saw what Michelle’s father saw? Would I look up?
I’d recommend To Gaze Upon a Darkened Cloud to readers who enjoy dystopian fiction with a touch of the supernatural, but who also want depth and heart. It’s perfect for fans of Margaret Atwood or Octavia Butler, people who like their fiction smart, unsettling, and emotionally resonant. This book isn’t just about surviving weird weather. It’s about what happens when the ground beneath your beliefs starts to crack. If you’re looking for something haunting but human, this one’s for you.

Finding Idyllium: Earth’s Stolen Future
Posted by Literary Titan

N. Joseph Glass’s Finding Idyllium takes readers to a future where Earth teeters on the edge of annihilation following a catastrophic nuclear disaster. With the planet no longer habitable, humanity’s survival depends on Idyllium, a pristine parallel Earth. Diplomatic overtures to this new world fail, prompting the covert United Global Alliance (UGA) to send Marc and his team on a high-stakes mission. Their objective: sabotage Idyllium’s systems to prepare for an inevitable mass migration. For Marc, the stakes are personal—his gravely ill daughter’s survival hinges on their success. But as his mission progresses, Marc is torn between his duty to humanity and the devastating cost to Idyllium’s inhabitants. This gripping tale explores the weight of sacrifice, the clash of morals, and the meaning of humanity in times of crisis.
Marc is the story’s heart and soul. His inner struggles, steeped in fear, love, and obligation, are both relatable and gut-wrenching. I was immediately drawn to his humanity. The detailed backstories of the supporting characters enrich the narrative, making their choices and motivations resonate deeply. These aren’t one-dimensional figures, they are flawed, layered, and vividly real. Each one adds nuance to the unfolding drama, showing how complex and varied the human response to catastrophe can be.
I think what sets Finding Idyllium apart is its seamless fusion of science fiction and emotional depth. The technological and speculative elements are imaginative yet grounded, creating a vivid and believable world without overshadowing the human element. The narrative doesn’t rely on spectacle alone. Instead, the sci-fi aspects serve as a backdrop, amplifying the emotional intensity of the characters’ journeys and the moral dilemmas they face. The result is an immersive and thought-provoking story that stays with you. That said, the repetition of certain moral conflicts occasionally slowed the pacing. Marc and his team’s debates about the ethics of their mission felt realistic, but some moments seemed to circle the same points. While this repetition underscored the gravity of their choices, it occasionally detracted from the momentum. Even so, the story remained compelling, with its exploration of ethical complexity adding depth and resonance.
Finding Idyllium is an emotionally charged sci-fi thriller that grapples with universal questions of sacrifice and morality. Readers who enjoy speculative fiction with a strong focus on character and ethical dilemmas will find this a rewarding experience. N. Joseph Glass delivers a story that challenges the mind and stirs the heart.

Posted by Literary Titan
Beyond the 4.5 billion he must save, Idyllium is his daughter’s only hope.
As he crosses over, Marc grasps a keepsake from his little girl. He must make that end justify his means. His planet is dying. A covert mission to save billions clashes with the fate of a pristine parallel world—and his terminally ill daughter.
Lines blur from politician to soldier to civilian. Marc confides in his team to find a way to save two worlds while keeping the people of Earth from forfeiting their humanity to survive. From preparation to active mission, the life of his little girl dangles before his moral compass, setting its needle askew. Jewel will be lucky to see a couple more birthdays—unless he can get her to Idyllium in time.

Hope for Redemption
Posted by Literary-Titan

Overlap: The Lives of a Former Time Jumper follows a man nearing the end of his life who decides to tell his story of time travel to a young reporter. What was your inspiration for the setup of the story, and how did that help you create the ending?
Inspiration came from a few sources. The concept of being able to ‘jump’ into previous versions of yourself in your timeline came from an independent film I watched some years ago. The idea behind Marcus’ desire to change the past to save his wife comes from my experience of loss. His hope for redemption was largely inspired by my father and something he told me nearing the end of his life. A merging of these led me to an ending I hadn’t originally planned but I believe turned out to be a better conclusion to Marcus’ story.
Were you able to achieve everything you wanted with the characters in the novel?
Yes, and more. The ending for Marcus, while changed in certain details, is what I envisioned for him in my original story outline. Jessica, on the other hand, developed beyond my first draft and grew as the story unfolded. Part of the writing process I enjoy is not knowing exactly where things are going and experiencing the joy of discovering it almost as the reader would.
Is there any moral or idea that you hope readers take away from the story?
I hope readers will be encouraged by the idea of redemption and that we can lift ourselves from grief, no matter the loss. We can make a better future, even if cannot change the past.
What is the next book you are working on, and when will it be available?
I have a finished draft of a novel with my editor. By Way of Avernus follows a team of marines from Earth on a mission to a parallel world to prepare for a forced occupation. It is their last-ditch effort to save the four and a half billion left on a dying planet. Meanwhile, on the pristine sister world of Idyllium, forces work to prevent the same. Morality is blurred. Lines are drawn, some are crossed. I hope to have a release date in April 2024.

Marcus had been a recluse for much of his life after his beloved wife, Ellie, tragically died. His inventions had made him wealthy, but that had never been his motivation. His most famous production, the Chamber, spawned an international business called Vacations in Time. Around the world its clients, time jumpers, flocked into stores to relive moments in their lives. Without warning the business closed its doors, never sending another client on a vacation in time.
Some fifteen years later, Marcus requests the first and only interview he would ever do. As he and Jessica discussed his invention, how it became commercialized into a recreational experience, and why he shut it down, the conversation shifted in directions neither could have expected.
