Healing the Mind with Words – Book Trailer
Posted by Literary Titan
Two authors, who have struggled with mental illness, tell their stories of recovery in dialogue fashion. Amelia Willows and Rick McVicar display hope and humor as they weave short stories of finding their way past hardship and trauma. Their recovery stories include deep faith in God as well as appreciation for nature.
As the two authors share their stories, they find plenty in common, even though they have been given different mental health diagnoses. Amelia is a person with borderline personality disorder while Rick is in recovery from schizoaffective disorder. While Amelia takes the lead role in telling her story, Rick serves as the editor as well as writing responses to Amelia’s columns. The two authors have developed a strong friendship from sharing their stories

The Eyes of the Leopard – Book Trailer
Posted by Literary Titan
It is the Stone Age of France; a prehistoric era of giant mammoths, painted caves, and fearsome cave lions. Fleeing starvation in their home territory, thirteen-year-old Sev and his family have been grudgingly accepted into the powerful Bear Clan. Yet as his father climbs the ranks of the mysterious group of shamans known as the Lion Lodge, Sev finds himself questioning the strange beliefs of his adopted band. Determined to unravel the secrets of the Lodge and prove his bravery, Sev accepts a dare to enter the Cave of Lions-a forbidden cavern high on the mountain where the shamans of the Lodge commune with powerful spirits.
When Sev’s trespass is revealed by his rival, Bakar, he is forced to make an impossible choice: join the Lodge or be exiled from the Clan-and exile is a potentially fatal sentence in the Ice Age world. Even joining the Lodge is no guarantee of survival, as their deadly politics are reinforced with dangerous tests of loyalty.
A YA adventure novel set in France during the last Ice Age, The Eyes of the Leopard is inspired by archaeologist and anthropologist Dr. Brian Hayden’s lifetime experience in the field studying prehistoric and ethnographic hunter-gatherer societies. Hayden’s expertise brings realistic depth to this classic coming-of-age story, painting Sev’s life of communal hunts, ritual feasting, and spiritual ceremonies “with the vivacity of a graphic novel” and providing an excellent introduction for young readers interested in archaeology. With art by professional archaeological illustrator Eric Carlson, the novel has been acclaimed by other archaeologists as a successful union of scientific work and storytelling.

Christmas at the Mission: A Cat’s View of Catholic Customs and Beliefs
Posted by Literary Titan
Sula the Cat does it again! Sula, parish cat at Old Mission San Juan Bautista, is a cat with a special mission: to comfort people in need. Every morning, she spends time with St. Francis, patron saint of animals, and receives guidance for the day. During Masses, led by the Holy Spirit, she seeks out whomever God wants her to comfort, and they report that she brings comfort, indeed. In her spare time, she writes books. This time, she is writing about Christmas traditions and how she experiences them as a parish cat. Ever wonder where our various Christmas customs come from? Sula tells you about the history and the customs today, both mainstream American Catholic and Mexican American Catholic customs since both are part of her parish in California. Charmingly illustrated with an Eastern flavor by Russian artist, Zhenya Yanovich.

Death by Greek Fire – Book Trailer
Posted by Literary Titan
After twenty years as a professional solider, Decimus Julius Virilis – distant kin to the Imperator himself – has been commissioned the third in command of the newly formed Legio XII Brundisium.
It’s his last assignment before retiring from Caesar Augustus’ legions – and turns out to be much more dangerous than he anticipated. After being shipped off to Dalmatia to fight the rebels waging war against Rome, the untrained legion immediately blunders into a death trap deep in enemy territory, leaving the commanding officer and his lieutenants dead.
Decimus is commanded by the heir apparent, Tiberius Caesar, to find the mastermind who planned the diabolical trap and is attempting to plunge the Roman Empire back into a civil war. But can the Roman tribune see the unseen and solve a crime others think is impossible?
Set in the time of the Roman Empire, Death By Greek Fire is the first book in B.R. Stateham’s ‘Decimus Julius Virilis’ series of historical mystery novels.
