How to Write a Novel Using the Snowflake Method – Book Trailer
Posted by Literary Titan
A Magical Key to Unlock Your Creative Wizard
Are you writing a novel, but having trouble getting your first draft written? You’ve heard of “outlining,” but that sounds too rigid for you. You’ve heard of “organic writing,” but that seems a bit squishy to you.
Take a look at the wildly popular Snowflake Method—a battle-tested series of ten steps that jump-start your creativity and help you quickly map out your story. All around the world, novelists are using the Snowflake Method right now to ignite their imaginations and get their first drafts down on paper.
In this book, you’ll follow the story of a fictitious novelist as she learns to tap into the amazing power of the Snowflake Method. Almost magically, she finds her story growing from a simple idea into a deep and powerful novel. And she finds her novel changing her—turning her into a stronger, more courageous person.
Zany, Over the Top, and Just Plain Fun
How to Write a Novel Using the Snowflake Method is a “business parable”—a how-to guide written in story form. It’s zany. It’s over the top. It’s just plain fun. Most important, it’s effective, because it shows you, rather than telling you.
You’ll learnby example how to grow your story idea into a sizzling first draft.
You’ll discover:
- How to define your “target audience” the right way, so you know exactly how your ideal readers think and feel. Forget what the experts tell you about “demographics.”
- How to create a dynamite selling tool that will instantly tell people whether they’ll love your story or hate it. And you want them to either love it or hate it.
- How to get inside the skin of every one of your characters—even your villain. Especially your villain.
- How to find a deep, emotively powerful theme for your story. Do you know the one best point in your novel to unveil your theme—when your reader is most eager to hear it?
- How to know when to backtrack, and why backtracking is essential to writing great fiction.
- How to fire-test each scene to guarantee it’ll be high-impact—before you write it.
Excerpt from Chapter 1:
Goldilocks had always wanted to write a novel.
She learned to read before she went to kindergarten.
In grade school, she always had her nose in a book.
In junior high, the other kids thought she was weird, because she actually liked reading those dusty old novels in literature class.
All through high school, Goldilocks dreamed of writing a book of her own someday.
But when she went to college, her parents persuaded her to study something practical.
Goldilocks hated practical, and secretly she kept reading novels. But she was a very obedient girl, so she did what her parents told her. She got a very practical degree in marketing.
After college, she got a job that bored her to tears—but at least it was practical.
Then she got married, and within a few years, she had two children, a girl and then a boy. She quit her job to devote full time to them.
As the children grew, Goldilocks took great joy in introducing them to the stories she had loved as a child.
When her son went off to kindergarten, Goldilocks thought about looking for a job. But her resume now had a seven-year hole in it, and her practical skills were long out of date.
The only jobs Goldilocks could qualify for were minimum wage.
She suddenly realized that being practical had made her horribly unhappy.
On a whim, Goldilocks decided to do the one thing she had always wanted more than anything else—she was finally going to write a novel.
She didn’t care if it was impractical.
For the first time in years, she was going to do something just for herself.
And nobody was going to stop her.

The Importance Of Representation
Posted by Literary Titan

Proud in Her Hijab follows a young Muslim girl that is teased at school over her hijab and shows how she deals with the feelings it causes. What was the inspiration for your story?
I am a mom of four amazing children – 2 girls and 2 boys. The inspirations are also my kids, their years of questions they bring from school as they get asked about their hair type, braid styles, and my girls’ hijab. There aren’t many books about hijab and we already have most of them that are out there so during the pandemic we decided to write our story with characters and names that look like our family. I can’t stress enough the importance of representation and how my girls feel empowered seeing and walking to this book in their respective classrooms. The main message is to uplift and empower girls who choose to wear hijab and be proud of their identities. Also to create awareness for readers about the importance of appreciating diversity and inclusion and embedding appreciation for other’s faith and cultural differences.
The art in this book is fantastic. What was the art collaboration process like with illustrator Mia Hay?
Mia Hay is the formatter and designer of the book. She is awesome and very professional. I didn’t have a good experience working with the illustrator being unprofessional and not delivering on time. However, Mia stepped in to finish and finalize the missing pieces and designed the book. She is also my 2nd book’s designer and we are very aligned working together. I wanted to thank her.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
Besides the two important lessons mentioned above. The book outlines the main themes of the book at the back. Such as
Be proud of who you are, your beliefs and embrace your identities.
Respect and be kind to everyone including to those who are different from you.
Be brave and stand up for yourself.
Don’t shy away from sharing what you go through. It’s ok to share you feelings to your family and friends.
Get to know someone before judging them.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
Yes. I just released my 2nd children’s book titled “Oh, No …Hacked Again!” It’s a story teaching children the importance of online safety and sparking interest for young readers to pursue the field of STEM esp. cybersecurity as a future career option.

“Is she bald?”
“Is her hair dirty?”
There is a fine line between curiosity and ridicule.
Iman must find courage to face the school children.
Proud in Her Hijab is a story that empowers and uplifts girls who choose to wear a hijab while encouraging friendship and respect.
If you are looking for a hijab story of inspiration & courage for your children and loved ones, look no further.
This book is for you!
“A relatable tale of pride and identity that is paired neatly with colorful and expressive illustrations. The summary of themes at the end of the book is a good review for younger readers, and offers a chance for conversation and discussion for parents reading with a child. Kemal has crafted a heartwarming and practical book that elevates kindness, patience, understanding, and cultural sensitivity, which is an essential message for any faith.” Self-Publishing Review

We Each Have Gifts
Posted by Literary Titan

The Gift follows a lonely young girl that receives a gift from God and shares his gift with other lonely children. What was the inspiration for your story?
This was from a literal dream! I was told I would receive dreams from a preacher in 2019 and I was to take a notebook and pen and write them down. This was my second dream, where I received a gift of my own; a bright mesmerising light. Nine months later I wrote a script for a childrens event based on the dream and the parents and children loved the story and play. So much so they asked for a copy to read. I decided then I would convert the script into a childrens book. The Gift play has been shown in many schools. The gift was produced and published in lockdown.
What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your story?
To be inspired by the story. For the readers imagination to be captivated. For valuable life lessons to be imbedded or encouraged (sharing, kindness) for children (and adults) and to know that no matter what you face in life we all have a gift of love from God and we are never alone. Also we each have gifts we can use to help others.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
Kindness, sharing, being the light to help others see. Challenges of bullying and having to be less selfish. How our lives can be changed with kindness.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
“The House”. Fantasy adventure for ages 7-11. Fabulous colour illustrations and very colourful characters! Valuable message lies hidden within the pages.
Feb – March 2022!

A Sense Of Creativity
Posted by Literary Titan
Guitar provides clear instruction and advice so readers can learn how to play the guitar and have fun doing it. Why was this an important book for you to write?
Yes, it was. What inspired me was the harmonics of the half-way points of the string tensions.
What is a common hurdle new guitar players face and how can they overcome it?
Trying to practice songs from books. But if you get the songs down and listen to yourself sound like someone else, it makes you think (big deal). Now, that’s getting ahead of yourself.
What is one piece of advice you would give to any aspiring guitarist?
Keep your guitar tuned. It really makes a difference.
What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your book?
A sense of creativity.

The Role of Music in Storytelling
Posted by Literary Titan

Gotham City Sounds: The Music of Batman Villains is a case study on the psychological and emotional impact of the music used in the Batman franchise. Why was this an important book for you to write?
I’ve always been fascinated with the role of music in storytelling. Whether it’s on a stage or a screen, music can absolutely affect an audience on a primal level. A great score can inform how you connect with a specific character or story. I also think pop culture entertainment is a great window into deeper conversations about important things. It’s why I’m a professor who consistently use pop culture references and examples in my college courses I teach. And if I want to navigate readers through the psychology of music for tormented characters, I figured analyzing Batman villain scores would be a fascinating way to go about it!
What villain’s theme music is your favorite and why?
I personally have a deep love for Danny Elfman’s Batman Returns score. The way he aurally connects the three main characters (Batman, Catwoman, Penguin) with complementary yet individualized music themes is masterful and emotionally powerful. In my opinion, that score is perfection.
What were some goals you set for yourself as a writer in this book?
I wanted to make sure my second full-length book met the bar I had set for myself with my first full-length book Cool Cats and a Hot Mouse: A History of Jazz and Disney. I was so honored and humbled by the reception Cool Cats and a Hot Mouse received (including it earning half a dozen national award recognitions). Just like my Disney Jazz book, I wanted my Batman villain book to educate readers about our history of entertainment in a captivating way.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I have several upcoming chapters in scholarly books being published in the next year. I’m also excited to be launching a new pop culture hub called POP PROFESSOR, which will be a website where I’ll offer blogs and videos covering bite-size presentations of fascinating pop culture things (similarly to my books). That can be found at http://www.popprofessor.com, and my professional website is http://www.matthodge.com. I’m also still a full-time university professor, and enjoy spending my days in classrooms with students.

Move aside, Batman. It’s time for Gotham City’s infamous villains to take center stage! Whether through film, television, or video games, members of the Dark Knight’s notorious rogues gallery consistently come to life on screen with the help of creative scores constructed by masterful composers — the true unsung superheroes of Hollywood.
Award-winning composer, professor, and author Matthew Hodge shines a fascinating spotlight on the psychological and emotional musical representations constructed by composers for numerous portrayals of Batman’s iconic villains. These pages discuss dozens of Gotham City characters, including well-known villains and lesser-known troublemakers. From flamboyant tricksters and monstrous brutes to seductive femme fatales and complicated antiheroes, the musical possibilities are endless.
Gotham citizens, beware! Evil doesn’t just have a name and a face — it has a sound.

Posted by Literary Titan
Lilbeebye Stings Bully follows a young girl as she uses her secret powers to change the heart of bullies into kind and caring people. What was the inspiration for your story?
I know that bullying is a global problem in today’s world. Especially in the black community, many of those kids come from broken homes. And was never taught how to love one another; what was related to me in my book is that I always tried to bring peace.
What is the one thing you hope children take away from reading this book?
I hope kids can learn from my book the importance of respect, apologies, and loving each other.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
My next book Lilbeebye Goes To A New School will be outs soon. It’s about lilbeebye having an issue with bullies as she tries to meet new friends.

The Sumatran Trilogy
Posted by Literary Titan
What’s Troubling Tawny? follows a shy young rhino that has trouble making friends and meets a bird that helps her find her confidence and make friends. What was the inspiration for your story?
I wanted to write a story about the Sumatran rhino because, tragically, there are fewer than 80 of these beautiful creatures left. I thought it would be interesting to have a rhino who lacks confidence and struggles with her own body image and insecurities. I also wanted to get across important messages for children in relation to body positivity and how to overcome shyness, which a lot of children and even adults struggle with.
How did you decide on the location for the backdrop to this story?
All three books in the Sumatran Trilogy are set in the Leuser Ecosystem in Sumatra, Indonesia. Originally, whilst I was thinking of locations for the books, I wanted it to be in a rainforest. My research led me to Sumatra, which is one of the most important areas of intact rainforest in the world. It is also the last place where tigers, elephants, rhinos and orangutans still roam together.
What is one thing that you hope readers take away from What’s Troubling Tawny?
There are lots of things I would hope readers will take from the story such as the importance of being yourself, being brave and stepping out of your comfort zone, as well as the environmental messages which are equally important. Perhaps the main message is how vital friendship and kindness are because without Tallulah’s encouragement, Tawny would not have approached Rusty.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I am currently working on the final book in the Sumatran Trilogy, Hooray for Heidi!, which is due to be released in June 2022.

Get Up To Speed As Quickly As Possible
Posted by Literary Titan
C# Via the Happy Path provides readers with a comprehensive yet easy to understand explanation of C# programming. Why was this an important book for you to write?
The main goal of this book was to help beginner programming students to get up to speed as quickly as possible with minimal effort. While writing the book, importance was given to a clear and comprehensive coverage of object-oriented programming in C#.
What is a common misconception you feel new programmers have about programming?
The most common misbeliefs among beginner programmers are that computer programming is about math, is only for a select few, and that it’s overly difficult. Truly, all these are a misconception.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a new programming student?
The best advice for a new programming student would be to ask oneself the question: “What is the best approach for me,” and then be directed to a good book that gives you a solid foundation in main programming principles. All it really takes is one great source of information, after that everything else comes relatively easy.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
There is always room for improvement, be it revision, newly added content, or a new book on a totally different subject that might be helpful for general life advice, making decisions, and living a good and purposeful life.
Author Links: Amazon | GoodReads
No previous programming experience is required, because the book aims to teach you all the necessary things you’d
want to know. We start with visually engaging explanations of how the computer actually works and you’ll
have a great time flying through the book reading about bits, how things are implemented in hardware, what a
computer memory is anyway and clear and practical explanations of object-oriented programming in C#.
We did our best to make sure the reader really gets it and provided some real-world code examples. You’ll
be learning about classes, generics, inheritance, interfaces, delegates and events and why you would actually
need them. To complement your learning with practical projects, you’ll build a fully functional game,
and a registering system web application that IT companies would want you to do as a test job while applying.
Along the way you’ll be exposed to many other interesting and useful bits and pieces of code you wish you had
been shown before. Why not take the leap of faith and see for ye self!
