The Amazon Self Publisher: How to Sell More Books on Amazon
Posted by Literary Titan
Save yourself some time and heartache and read this book before going out and promoting your book. Especially if you are a first-time author. When I published my first book I went out and tried to tell the world about it. Long story short, I did everything wrong. Everything that author Dale Roberts tells you specifically not to do in his book The Amazon Self Publisher. It took me months to learn these lessons the hard way. Lesson’s that Dale details in his book. You’ll learn what works, what not to do, and where to spend time doing your research.
What I like most about this book is how personable it is. There are plenty of tips and tricks and practical advice all throughout this book, but what we also get is personal stories from Dale about his own publishing experiences. All of the stories provide more context or real-world examples of the ideas we’re exploring in each chapter. This reminds me of Stephen Kings book On Writing, where we are given great advice along with personal stories to create something that is way more valuable then either on their own. Where Stephen King’s On Writing will tell you how to write a book, Dale Robert’s book will tell you how to set that book up for success when you publish.
The Amazon Self Publisher is a collection of Dale’s three books in his Amazon Self Publisher series, and is a distillation of the ideas he shares on his YouTube channel. This is a fantastic starting point for new authors, or authors struggling to figure out how Amazon Keywords work, how to get reviews, and how to promote their book. While I would have appreciated more depth to some of the topics, and more actionable tips, everything that is presented is perfect to get struggling authors off the ground and put them on a level playing field with other successful indie authors.
The Amazon Self Publisher gives readers an understanding of the Amazon platform along with strategies to promote your book on that platform, and to be successful outside of it as well. This is a fantastic resource for authors and anyone that wants insight into selling a product on Amazon.

Civility at Work
Posted by Literary Titan
Civility At Work, by Dr. Lewena Bayer is a detailed and enlightening book that outlines, in detail, the method by which an employee is treated, negatively or positively, and how this affects not only the employees behavior but also the work production and the company itself. Incivility should not exist, yet due to differences in people’s viewpoints, it unfortunately does.
Dr. Lewena Bayer provides ample examples to illustrate the point that workplace incivility is a real issue that permeates companies and has lasting affects on business as well as people. I appreciated the in depth research provided, and Dr. Lewena Bayer’s expert perspective provides an experienced lens through which readers can understand the information. What could have been a dense book is instead a thoughtful and factual examination of the subject that exhibits a substantial amount of emotional intelligence.
I have worked in many corporate offices and business throughout the years and I always, as Dr. Lewena’s statistics show, experienced some form of incivility everywhere I worked. But I never really thought about the ramifications of those experiences on the people involved and the company until I read this informative book. This book provides real world context and shows you real world impacts to an idea that was previously abstract; or at least it was abstract to me before reading this book but now I feel I have a good grasp on the topic. I think this is where the book really shines; while it can be used as an effective tool by CEO’s and HR heads, it is also a vital tool for the average worker as it illustrates its points and provides actionable advice in easy to understand ways that anyone can grasp.
Civility at Work is an intelligent guide book that has the potential to change the workplace environment for the better.

DIY Conflict Resolution: Seven Choices and Five Actions of a Master
Posted by Literary Titan
DIY Conflict Resolution by Nance L. Schick Esq is an illuminating book that provides effective conflict resolution skills that can be employed in various situations and with different kinds of people. The author explores conflict in the corporate world, communities in neighborhoods, marital discord, as well as others, and provides actionable advice that readers can put to use to improve their lives.
DIY Conflict Resolution is the kind of book every manager, administrative officer or just any leader needs to have. I love the idea of being your own Chief Resolution Officer. The solutions given by Nance L. Schick are logical, practical, and easy to understand. I like how the author talks of bringing conflicting parties together. One can tell that Nance is experienced and has been in situations where disagreements were solved amicably. One major lesson I learned from the book is to put emotions and bias aside when trying to bring conflicting parties to agree. The author gives a step-by-step guide on how to wisely mediate a clash and how to make peace where there is none.
I really appreciated the practical approach to problems that Nance L. Schick shares in this personal development book. By the end of the book, you get to understand the significance of being neutral and learn how to listen more before taking any action. This book is also short, concise, and factual so we’re never bogged down in details or fluff.
I would recommend DIY Conflict Resolution to anyone that would want to learn a bit of human psychology as they go about resolving conflicts and bringing warring sides to an agreement. The author’s views are objective and the solutions given for every issue highlighted are realistic. This is a fantastic guide for leaders in their organizations, or someone who wants to get a better handle on themselves and in their personal lives.

Voice Over Master Class
Posted by Literary Titan

The Professional Voiceover Handbook is a comprehensive guidebook designed to help readers go from beginner to professional voice actor. Why was this an important book for you to write?
I have been a professional voice over artist since the 1970s, and since I am getting ready to retire, I thought I would put all my knowledge I have accumulated over the years into a comprehensive, fact-filled book to help people new to the industry hit the ground running. I have already created many video based training courses on voiceovermasterclass.com, and they have been well received by people, but the courses were all about types of voice work, or separate niche’s of the voice industry. This book really includes all the information from voice acting, character work, narration, as well as straight voice over work such as for commercials and so on. It shows how anybody who is prepared to work hard, and enjoys using their voice to set up their own business in their own home studio.
What is a common misconception you feel people have about being a voice actor?
Many people feel that voice over work is barking out commercial scripts all day, but nothing can be further from the truth. You can if you want to, specialise in recording just commercials, but for most of us it’s a very small part of general day of a voice artist. You are more likely to work on corporate or training scripts, or tourism duration, which can be very interesting, as well as audio books, so you actually get paid for recording and putting your personality on a factual or fiction book. Every day is different!
What is one thing you hope readers take away from your book?
I want people to know that the voice is a very important instrument, and it can be incredibly flexible once they understand the exercises you can do to show what it can perform. This is not just in the depth or range of the human voice, but also in accents and character voices, and getting into the world of voice over can be extremely enjoyable and very lucrative as well. This book is a one stop information volume with plenty of facts and minimal waffle!

The Professional Voiceover Handbook
Posted by Literary Titan
The Professional Voiceover Handbook by Peter Baker is a professional’s how-to, that for once, fully delivers. Author Peter Baker provides everything you will need to embark on a journey into voiceover as a new career.
There’s no holding back with Baker. He wants you to succeed and to join the ranks alongside him as a professional voiceover artist. That he loves his work and the field itself is incredibly obvious as you read through this book. He provides clear and simple instructions without making it seem as though he’s talking down to a beginner who knows nothing. He doesn’t just mention different types of jobs one can do in voiceover, he actually goes through several in great detail. For example, there’s a respectable chunk of text describing everything you might want to know about how to record audiobooks, even specifically addressing authors who might want to attempt to record their own books themselves. He’s not narrowing down his audience or excluding anyone; he’s written this guide as an open invitation for anyone to try out voiceover, not just those already dabbling in the field. Baker details every last piece of equipment you’ll need, as well as sharing those that he considers the best or most effective. He talks about the pros and cons of getting an exclusive agent versus going it alone as a freelance artist. He also discusses the best software programs to use, even going so far as to outline exactly what settings to use for different types of jobs. And best of all, he shares an extensive list of websites where a beginning (and honestly even a seasoned) voiceover artist can find trustworthy, paying gigs.
There’s so much valuable, practical information in these pages that I almost felt encouraged to pull out my own microphone and try to record a few practice scripts, just to see how I’d do. I love that you can feel the passion this man has for the work. Other books of this nature that I’ve read always seem to hold back just enough to where you might feel inspired to try but still not know exactly what to do. You won’t need a anything else to get started, and it’s not just the act of voiceover that he discusses. Baker even addresses the more business-related side of the work, answering questions you might have about client communications, how to handle payments and invoicing, even at times providing actual templates for emails that you can copy and use to get started right away.
This was a very easy-to-read book, written in a casual, friendly manner, and there’s no difficult technical jargon to slog through–as even the most technical parts he’s written are easily understood. I highly recommend Professional Voiceover Handbook to anyone interested in a career in voiceover or even anyone who’s just looking into it as a possible hobby or side hustle. Baker’s handbook and his invaluable tips and templates will let you hit the ground running.
