The Donkey We Named Albert
Posted by Literary Titan

Albert the Donkey Solves a Mystery follows a charming donkey and his dog companion set out to assist their bunny friend in finding her missing carrots. Where did the idea for this book come from?
There is a small horse farm in a neighboring town and they have a donkey. My family started making up stories about the donkey and my mother encouraged me to write a children’s book about the donkey we named Albert. And that is how the character was born.
The art in this book is fantastic. What was the collaboration process like with your illustrator?
My illustrator (Daisyblue Publishing) is absolutely wonderful to work with! I send them detailed descriptions of each image and the snippet of story that goes with the picture and they do the rest! I receive a sketch first and make any necessary adjustments if any and then receive the colored version for final approval. It’s fast, easy, and marvelous!
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this children’s adventure book?
Four aspects of my books are friendship, kindness, helping those in need, and doing what is right. I believe those are all attributes that can and should be instilled in our children and encouraged and nurtured in our kids today. I hope that a key take away from my Albert the Donkey books is that despite everything he goes through, Albert remains kind and friendly and ready to help those in need. I think those are great qualities that everyone can aspire to have.
Can we look forward to more books featuring this engaging duo? What are you currently working on?
I am working on a series of Albert books based on the four seasons I hope to release in 2025-2026. I am also currently working on a book about Hank the Hamster and an accidental adventure I hope to release in 2025.

Superconscious Dave and the Collective Soup
Posted by Literary Titan

Superconscious Dave and the Collective Soup is an imaginative children’s tale about an intergalactic adventurer, Dave, who zips through space and stumbles upon a fantastical realm known as the “sea of Ying and Yang.” Guided by a quirky green ape, Dave explores this whimsical world filled with magic, oddities, and the “collective soup,” an ethereal space of connection and wisdom. With its rhyming narrative and playful illustrations, the book invites young readers to ponder big ideas about curiosity, connection, and the unknown.
I loved the energy of this children’s book. The rhyming verses added a delightful rhythm that makes it perfect for reading aloud. Lines like “He travelled very fast, and disappeared without a trace” whisked me right into Dave’s speedy star car. The creativity behind a “milky white soup” and a giant green ape shaking his tree was pure gold. It’s like the author reached into a dreamscape and pulled out the best parts to share.
The story shines brightest in its subtle messages. When the green ape introduces Dave to the superconscious collective, I found myself pondering its deeper meaning. It’s a charming way to introduce kids to abstract concepts like mindfulness and interconnectedness. The moment Dave realized he could manifest answers by closing his eyes was a standout scene. It’s not just whimsical; it’s empowering. Susan Buik’s illustrations match the playful tone of the writing. The gel-like bubbles and pink skies are just as captivating as the text describes.
Superconscious Dave and the Collective Soup is a delightful read for kids brimming with curiosity and imagination. It’s perfect for bedtime stories, especially for young dreamers aged 4 to 8 who love zany adventures. Adults reading along might even find themselves drawn into its playful pondering of the infinite.

Leo Gets His Nighttime ZZZs
Posted by Literary Titan

Christine Corrigan Mendez and Jen Monika McCurdy deliver a delightful addition to children’s literature with Leo Gets His Nighttime Zzzs, a story that combines engaging storytelling, practical advice, and a heartwarming message of teamwork. Leo, the protagonist, leads a busy life filled with soccer games, schoolwork, neighborhood chores, and his role in the Kids Can Club. Yet, this packed schedule takes a toll—Leo struggles to get the restful sleep he needs. When he turns to his friends for help, the Kids Can Club embarks on their newest mission: helping Leo reclaim his nights.
This is my first foray into the Kids Can! series, and it’s a thoroughly impressive introduction. The book radiates a sense of empowerment and community, emphasizing the value of teamwork and the strength found in friendship. The Kids Can Club’s culturally diverse cast adds richness to the narrative, reflecting an inclusive world that young readers can relate to and admire. Dana Regan’s charming illustrations further enhance the experience, inviting readers to feel as though they are part of Leo’s adventures. When Leo shares his problem, Iris and her mom step up with a creative solution: progressive muscle relaxation. To make the concept approachable and fun for children, the story cleverly renames the exercise “scrunch up five-unscrunch.” This memorable phrase simplifies a valuable technique, making it accessible for kids and adults alike. Iris and her mom guide both Leo and readers through the exercise step by step, ensuring everyone can follow along with ease. As an adult living in a fast-paced world, I found this introduction to relaxation techniques refreshing and incredibly useful.
The inclusion of a one-page instruction sheet at the end of the book is a thoughtful touch, offering readers a practical takeaway from the story. The book’s charm and utility extend beyond its intended audience, making it a resource for all ages. The story inspires curiosity about the Kids Can! series as a whole, leaving readers eager to explore more of its empowering messages.
With its culturally inclusive storytelling, vibrant illustrations, and practical life lessons, Leo Gets His Nighttime Zzzs is a shining example of excellence, blending education with entertainment in a way that resonates deeply. It’s an ideal choice for classroom reading, book clubs, or family storytime.

Live On In Sweet Stories
Posted by Literary Titan

Slinky Dinky Doo and the Razzle Dazzle Sprinkles is the story of a little dachshund and his human companions who set out to save the day when a cupcakery discovers its magical sprinkles are missing. Where did the idea for this story come from?
Slinky Dinky Doo was our real-life pet for 12 years! Slinky was very special to us, as he was our “only child” for 10 years. He was lovable, playful, adventurous, adorable, and sweet. We unfortunately had to say goodbye to him when our twins were only 8 months old, but I wanted him to live on in sweet stories with our children as they grew. I had the idea for this children’s book series several years ago and finally decided to pull the trigger on it. And, cupcakes may or may not be my favorite dessert.
Do you have a favorite scene in this story? One that was especially fun to craft?
I actually have two! The first is when Slinky is sniffing the bag of empty sprinkles and sneezes. In real-life, Slinky had the most adorable sounding sneeze. It’s a humorous and sweet scene, where I feel like every child can vividly imagine the cuteness of his sneeze and the colorful sprinkles flying into the air. I also adore the last scene in the book, where Slinky Dinky Doo curls up in his cozy bed with his favorite green blanket. He is adorably dreaming about tomorrow’s adventures, and of Razzle Dazzle Creamy Zazzle cupcakes, too, of course. My illustrator did such a fabulous job bringing his sweet little dream to life. He is running under a cupcake rainbow, surrounded by bones, treats, and toys. It is super adorable!
The artwork in your book is wonderful. What was it like to collaborate with illustrator Mariana Ostanik?
She was absolutely amazing, from beginning to end! We were actually only halfway through this book when I hired her to do several future books. She is kind, sweet, very patient, and so, so great at what she does. She did an amazing job bringing my sweet book to life. It is more than I ever imagined it could be. As soon as I saw her mock-up, I knew I wanted to hire her! It actually brought me to tears. It was exactly what I was looking for. The illustration process was by far my favorite part of the process. Every morning the kids and I would sprint to the laptop (sometimes even before brushing our teeth!) to see the newest sketch or colored spread. It was like Christmas every day! I am very much looking forward to our future projects together. I think we make a great team.
Can young readers and their families look forward to more adventures with Slinky Dinky Doo?
Absolutely! This is the first book in the series. Slinky goes on many more adventures with his family, friends, and townsfolk! In 2026, the second Slinky book will be released. It involves pumpkins and fall fun!

The Candies’ Last Stand
Posted by Literary Titan

This delightful children’s story, The Candies’ Last Stand, is a whimsical tale about a group of candies staging a daring rebellion during a holiday party in a Kindergarten classroom. The candies, led by the courageous Jelly Bear and supported by a colorful cast of sweets like Wise Peanut Brittle and Compassionate Candy Cane, hatch an elaborate plan to avoid being eaten. What ensues is a chaotic adventure of bouncing, spinning, and flying sweets that leave the children and teachers in delightful disarray. The story ends with the candies triumphantly escaping to the great outdoors, leaving readers wondering about their next adventure.
This picture book is charmingly creative, and I couldn’t help but smile at how vividly the candies came to life. The author does a great job giving each candy a personality that matches their real-life characteristics. For instance, the determined Lollipop adds a sense of flair with its “massive flash of color and beautiful swirls,” and the Loyal Hanukkah Gelt’s spinning flight provides an exciting twist.
The story is undeniably fun. Many scenes double back on describing the same chaotic events from slightly different angles. The climax, where the candy canes form a chain for the great escape, is thrilling and imaginative. It’s the kind of scene that young readers will love and likely reenact with their own candy during the holidays.
I also appreciated the subtle messages about teamwork and bravery. The candies band together, each contributing their unique skills to ensure success. Compassionate Candy Cane’s willingness to take charge and Brave Jelly Bear’s leadership shine through as strong examples of camaraderie.
The illustrations by Sangi Parvin are a feast for the eyes, bursting with color and energy that perfectly match the playful chaos of the story. Each page is alive with vibrant hues and whimsical details, making the candies’ daring rebellion even more engaging. The lively art style complements the narrative, drawing young readers deeper into the magical world.
The Candies’ Last Stand is a lively, imaginative read that kids will love. It’s perfect for young readers who enjoy playful chaos, holiday themes, and stories where the unexpected happens. The book is ideal for holiday story time in classrooms or at home with the family.

Nate’s Noisy Nose
Posted by Literary Titan

Nate Tyler Jones has a nose like any other—until it starts making music. Not just any music, though. His nose toots, honks, and hums its way through his days, making his friends laugh and even creating impromptu concerts. But the noise doesn’t always hit the right note. It disrupts his classes, annoys his family, and eventually gets him banned from public places. Everything changes when Nate crosses paths with Gabby the Geek, an electronics wizard who might hold the key to his noisy dilemma.
Nate’s Noisy Nose is a delightful and lively children’s book that kids will find endlessly amusing. The whimsical concept of a musical nose is fresh and funny, pulling young readers into Nate’s world of misadventures. The illustrations are a highlight, bursting with color and detail. They don’t just complement the story—they amplify it. Nate’s loyal dog, Rascal, steals the show in many scenes, with expressive drawings that almost leap off the page. It felt like reading a comic book, with action and humor packed into every panel.
What I loved most was the balance between humor and heart. While the story had me laughing at Nate’s noisy escapades, it also offered moments of reflection. Even after finding a way to quiet his nose, Nate doesn’t shy away from being himself. The message is clear: individuality should be celebrated, even when it gets loud. It’s a lesson wrapped in laughter, making it resonate with readers without ever feeling heavy-handed.
This picture book is perfect for young readers who enjoy playful stories and for families looking for a book that sparks conversation. The detailed illustrations provide plenty of opportunities to pause and explore, making it an engaging shared experience. Nate’s Noisy Nose is a reminder to embrace what makes us unique, even when it’s a little unconventional.
