The Sacred Passage
Posted by Literary Titan

Mwana waMusikavanhu’s The Sacred Passage delves into the complex interplay of political strategy and individual ambition. Centering on Runobvepi, a character who transforms from a rebel leader into a Prime Minister post-independence, the novel intricately portrays his endeavors to consolidate power in a newly liberated nation.
waMusikavanhu crafts a narrative rich in political intrigue, highlighting Runobvepi’s journey from gaining the highest office in his country to his relentless pursuit of power. Runobvepi’s tenure is characterized by political savvy and a ruthless streak, raising questions about the longevity and impact of such a domineering presence in politics. The novel excels in its deep and compelling exploration of character motivations, strategies, and actions within the complex post-independence political landscape.
waMusikavanhu’s adept storytelling brings to life the dark underbelly of politics, where power reigns supreme and extreme tactics are the norm. The characters, portrayed with nuance, demand the reader’s attention as they navigate a web of power and ambition. The narrative captivates with its tension-filled rallies and secretive meetings. While it sometimes delves deeply into character motives through extensive passages and features dialogues that lean towards a structured exchange, these elements contribute to the novel’s overall tapestry, enhancing its engaging and thrilling journey through the world of political machinations.
The Sacred Passage offers a penetrating look at the corrupting nature of power and the moral compromises inherent in the quest for political dominance. It stands as a compelling tale of intrigue, betrayal, and the eternal struggle for power, inviting readers to reflect on the broader implications of unbridled ambition in leadership.

Mutually Beneficial
Posted by Literary Titan

Mutually Beneficial by David G. Williamsson introduces readers to a gripping narrative as the retirement of esteemed Democratic senator Robert Jameson sets off a chain of unsettling events. Determined to clear his late daughter’s name from allegations of suicide, Jameson uncovers a murder intricately tied to a web of political scandals threatening to topple careers. Amidst this tumultuous backdrop, the ambitious Ambassador Susan McClarren grapples with her own demons. Her compromising addiction and a damning piece of evidence could derail her vice-presidential aspirations, prompting her to seek the assistance of the resourceful Chique.
Chique, alongside her partner Raymond, navigates a complex world of client obligations and personal vendettas, all while maintaining the delicate balance of their own relationship. The addition of Jameson into their lives only intensifies their challenges as they delve deeper into the murky waters of political intrigue and personal revenge. Their quest is further complicated by the elusive individual possessing the incriminating film of McClarren, adding layers of difficulty to their already perilous mission. The novel is replete with action, suspense, and an abundance of sexual content, painting a vivid picture of the characters’ intertwined lives. While the romance between Raymond and Chique offers a tumultuous narrative thread, McClarren’s exploits provide an additional dimension of complexity. The use of profanity, while abundant, may detract from the narrative’s potential for some readers, yet it contributes to the raw and unfiltered portrayal of the book’s thematic elements.
Chique, as the protagonist, stands out as a formidable and resolute figure. Her boldness and determination in the face of adversity highlight her as a noteworthy character within the genre. The plot, rich with concurrent storylines, showcases the author’s dedication to detailed characterization, providing readers with a multifaceted look at the characters’ motivations and struggles and enhancing the narrative’s depth and complexity.
For those drawn to novels brimming with action, political intrigue, and intricate personal relationships, Mutually Beneficial presents a rich tapestry of conflict and resolution. The story contains a complex plot and an engaging exploration of power, ambition, and survival.

Reality Really Did Mirror My Fiction
Posted by Literary_Titan

Krill follows a man struggling in life after his wife left him who meets an enigmatic artist offering him a chance at redemption in exchange for a favor. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
I studied modern history at Balliol College, Oxford, and have always been interested in populist totalitarianism in Europe in the early to mid-20th century. The genesis of Krill was speculation about what a Hitler figure would look like in the digital age. I was convinced of one thing – he or she would be unlike anything we might expect. I’m pleased that this doesn’t become apparent until well into the book. I finished the first draft eight years ago and put the book aside for a while, traumatised that so much of what I predicted was coming to pass; reality really did mirror my fiction. And despite the passage of time, the premise remains as relevant today as when I first wrote it.
Was there anything from your own life that you put into the characters in your novel?
Plenty. I grew up in a political family and spent a life running businesses before turning to writing/revising full time. But we all invest much of ourselves in our work whether we acknowledge it or not, do we not?
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
Many including love – unrequited and requited – obsession, loss, despair, humour, hubris, power, ambition, redemption, cats.
I find a problem in well-written stories in that I always want there to be another book to keep the story going. Is there a second book planned?
I have another, very different, Crazy Crime novel (Elliefant’s Graveyard – The Curious Case of The Throatslit Man) scheduled for publication in spring, with two sequels to follow. I am revising three detective/legal novels set in the music industry (where I spent my working life) and am working on a series of short stories that will be given away on my website and various online sales portals in the first few months of 2024. Subject to demand, I have the bones of a sequel to Krill mapped out, drawing on Oliver Cromwell and The English Revolution.

Krill
Posted by Literary Titan

In Krill, readers are introduced to John Tucker, a character grappling with despair. His life has seemingly hit its lowest point: his wife Sophie has left, financial burdens darken his once joyful home, and betrayal by a trusted mentor adds to his woes. It is in this backdrop of turmoil that we meet Krill, an enigmatic artist who offers John a chance at redemption. By permitting Krill’s organization to use his house, John embarks on a journey filled with unexpected twists, new relationships, and the pursuit of inner peace.
The novel is a vibrant and engaging read, with never a moment of tedium. Each sentence pulses with energy and life, keeping the reader thoroughly engaged. The character of Rosa, in particular, stands out. Initially portrayed as somewhat unapproachable and severe, she, along with other characters, undergoes a significant transformation. Their development is handled with nuance and skill, leaving a lasting impression on the reader.
The book also addresses complex themes with clarity and depth, exemplified by Krill’s articulate and insightful speeches. Certain elements of the narrative are notably vibrant and theatrical, adding a unique flair to the story. This is particularly evident in scenes like Toast’s interviews, which, though humorously executed, occasionally hint at a potential for a more serious undertone. These moments contribute to the novel’s dynamic and eclectic atmosphere.
The heightened drama enhances the compelling nature of Krill, adding to its overall intrigue. This book is particularly recommended for those who enjoy contemporary novels with brisk pacing, sharp dialogue, and unpredictable plotlines. The novel’s unique character portrayals and unexpected twists make it a rewarding experience for a wide array of readers.

Banning Santa
Posted by Literary Titan

Banning Santa, by Mikael Carlson, is a novel that brilliantly marries the joy of Christmas with the absurdity of political maneuvering. Imagine a scenario where a festive mall Santa’s viral misadventure sparks a political frenzy to ban Santa Claus himself. Carlson masterfully orchestrates this uproar, pitting political parties, public opinion, and the very essence of Christmas spirit against each other in a humorous yet thought-provoking battle.
The book’s unique premise and intriguing title immediately capture attention, sparking a blend of curiosity and intrigue from the first glance. I feel the initial chapters, with their rapidly shifting points of view, each unfolding in brief, standalone segments, might challenge conventional narrative preferences. Yet, this unique storytelling approach sets the stage for a rich and engaging narrative tapestry. As the story unfolds, the characters become increasingly relatable–their struggles and reactions to this bizarre situation are almost palpable. Comedic moments are woven throughout each chapter, yet there’s a subtle layer of earnestness beneath the laughter, adding depth to the narrative. While the ending might not surprise seasoned readers, it brings a heartwarming resolution that transcends political divides, celebrating a moment of unity and shared humanity. The concluding chapters encapsulate a blend of emotional and comedic elements, leaving readers with both tears and laughter.
Banning Santa takes readers on a rollercoaster ride, quickly gathering momentum to pull you into its captivating plot. The story’s engaging nature left me longing for longer chapters and a more consistent narrative perspective, elements I feel would have further enhanced an already captivating tale. Mikael Carlson’s Banning Santa is a delightful read, especially for those who enjoy a fusion of satire, humor, and holiday cheer.

This cutting-edge novel is a descriptive telling of how the coming election will greatly impact the destiny of America. The Scroll of Destiny uncovers ancient mysteries about how we can move the hand of God to change political arenas and birth national awakening. This novel dramatically displays how the outcome of the next election will greatly impact this nation. National Threat Comes From Within
Posted by Literary-Titan

Code Name: Juggernaut follows an FBI agent investigating a series of murders that all seem to be connected to an assassin named Jack-L who also happens to be working for a neo-Nazi terrorist group. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
Previously, it seemed that terrorism arising from the Middle East – hijackings, bombings, kidnappings and so on — was constant fare on the news. I first started researching what emerged as Code Name: Juggernaut in the mid-1990s, seeing the disturbing rise of political division in this country. In writing this book, I wanted to not only create a thriller which is hopefully entertaining but also to delve into the mindset of political extremism in this country. I decided that it represented a relatively untapped and fertile area for literary development. Jacqueline (“Jackie”, alias “the Jack-L”) Lynch is a strong woman and, in many respects, the book’s main character. She is associated with WEREWOLF, a neo-Nazi terror group. She and her lover, Howard Brennan, are conspiring to carry out a plot (code named “Juggernaut”) to foment unrest.
Special Agent Douglas Rabson has had to overcome a lot in his career and personal life by the time this story starts, and he is working on these cases. Was the character’s backstory something you always had, or did it develop as you were writing?
It was a little of both. Novels are generally driven by conflict. In addition to the obvious conflict presented in Code Name: Juggernaut of extremist terrorists versus the federal government there is the inner conflict of Agent Rabson, who is Jewish and whose relatives perished in the Holocaust, pitted against neo-Nazis, as well as antisemitism he encounters. His commitment to his duty is only strengthened in the novel as he slowly uncovers the scope of the terrorists’ plot, sometimes in the face of skepticism of his superiors.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
I got the idea for this novel when domestic terrorism, as seen by the Oklahoma City and Atlanta Olympics Bombings, was becoming increasingly prevalent right here. It touches on racism and antisemitism which, unfortunately, are quite prevalent today. Part of the book’s appeal is that the baddies are domestic threats who arise among us, rather than being foreign-born terrorists. The national threat comes from within. These terrorists are our fellow Americans, people who might be your co-worker or next-door neighbor, rather than some troglodyte residing in a cave somewhere in Afghanistan. Finally, as one goes through the book, the reader is made to ponder the question “…Given the political situation in the USA today, could something like what is depicted in Code Name: Juggernaut actually happen?”
