A Little Piece of Heaven
Posted by Literary Titan

A Little Piece of Heaven by Jeffrey Arnold is a fun, witty, and engaging read that centers around a city’s eccentric mayor, Ted Torgenson, and the quirky characters around him. Acquiring the oddball nickname “Turd” from childhood, Mayor Torgenson is introduced from the start at city hall, where he faces several battles, including legal challenges. As a political figure, he must navigate between his supporters, staff, and key players in life and at work, to find the best solution while remaining at the top. After remaining in office for several terms, every move Mayor Torgenson makes, along with his associates, is vital to his future success.
Jeffrey Arnold expertly weaves humor throughout the story from the opening paragraph. While he’s sharp and quick, he quickly realizes that his fate lies in the hands of his staff and constituents, especially as he faces the courtroom. The reader is reeled into the mayor’s world during the unfolding of key events, from a determined prosecutor to the campaign funding elite and a street-wise assistant, among many others, who play an integral role in the case.
The story is entertaining for anyone who enjoys a comedic, action-packed tale with a quick pace and witty humor. It’s packed with great character development, plot twists, and unexpected turns throughout the book. While it’s densely written with hour-by-hour, day-by-day narration, this page-turner will be an exciting, enjoyable read that you can finish in a day or weekend!
A Little Piece of Heaven by Jeffrey Arnold is a fantastic read that I highly recommend and I look forward to reading more about the author and his amazing talent for writing a vibrant storyline with unique characters. Jeffrey Arnold’s work is worth considering for a film or mini-series based on the character interactions and layers of intriguing developments in this book.

Hilarious Adventure Awaits
Posted by apulliam2000

Hysterical Hangouts with The Hindlegs follows Viktor into the heart of his fiancée’s eccentric family, chronicling his hilarious exploits and trials in a world more chaotic than any reality show. What inspired the setup of this story?
The inspiration for this story is based on the time-honored tradition of finding the partner of your dreams, falling in love, and last but certainly not least meeting the family. I have been blessed to be married to the love of my life for 18 years now. And she has 7 brothers and sisters. I remember the first time meeting her parents and her family and it kind of led me down this rabbit hole. What if, not everything is as it seems? What if, the boyfriend decided that this could be the ultimate opportunity for a reality show adventure?
Reality shows are quite popular and the thought dawned on me to use the reality show aspect as an avenue to deliver the story in a very unique and creative way.
The episodic structure of the book gives it a unique sitcom feel. Why did you choose this format? Is this a hint of a possible TV adaptation?
In coming up with the idea for a reality show, I researched other books with a reality show aspect and really couldn’t find many adaptions. Stephen King’s The Running Man has a reality show aspect as does Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games. While these novels are fantastic, my goal was to do something wildly different. During my research, what I found is that there aren’t many true-to-life reality show books in existence. Which I thought was great because it gives me an opportunity to differentiate myself and my writing from a lot of authors. I love pushing the boundaries and capturing the reader’s imagination in a unique way. I wanted the entire book to feel as if you are literally watching the reality show unfold with each turn of the page. I invoke vivid imagery and ensure the reader continues to be engrossed within the reality show aspect.
I would love for this book to be adapted for television. That would be a wonderful transition for “The Hindlegs” and the chaos readers have come to know and love about this family.
The character of Viktor Sniperbone seems like an everyman thrown into chaos. Can you share some insights about his character development?
Viktor is an only child. He has no brothers or sisters and only has some vague ideas about his girlfriend, Mandi Hindlegs’ family. He has had girlfriends in the past and never met a set of parents or family that didn’t like him. That is, until now! What Viktor doesn’t realize is that the “meet the parents” introduction is actually a trap he has never experienced before. Mandi’s parents and family are one-of-a-kind and do everything within their power to make him uncomfortable and push the boundaries of just how much one person will endure to be with their significant other.
The end of the book suggests the possibility of a Season 2. Can we expect to see more of Viktor’s adventures with the Hindlegs family in the future?
I did leave the book open-ended for a reason. What people don’t realize is that Mandi doesn’t just have brothers, she also has sisters! So, my plan is to create a Season 2 of Hysterical Hangouts with The Hindlegs focusing on the sisters Hindleg and the chaos that ensues between Viktor, Mandi, and The Hindleg sisters. I also have ideas for a season 3 that involves Viktor and Mandi’s children, as well as the Hindleg brother’s and sister’s children. When families come together, there is no telling what sorts of unspeakable danger and hilarious adventure awaits.

Cocaine In Her Wedding Dress
Posted by Literary Titan

Something Scandalous, Treacherous, and Black follows two people planning to be married who are harboring secrets that could shatter their well-conceived plans. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
Honestly, I went to a wedding where the bride did cocaine in her wedding dress, and I was like this would be a great book.
All of the characters are engaging and have memorable qualities. What were some driving ideals behind your character’s development?
I always love the idea of my characters being real people. Alan Heathcock, who wrote the book Volt, said he likes to believe his characters are real people, and he writes down what they do. I just love that people aren’t one hundred percent good or evil.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
This book was huge into the concept of second chances. Paige and Leo being the huge aspect of that. I think everyone makes mistakes or timing isn’t right in their lives, so it’s magical when life gives you that second chance at love, a career, or being your true self.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
The next book to come out will be The Bitch Cup on 8/3.

The only problem is Paige is still in love with Leo, her college sweetheart, and Joshua has been sleeping with Joey, the best man.
Unknown to the couple, Joey plans to sabotage the wedding because he is in love with Joshua. To further complicate things, Chelsea, their new wedding planner, wants to humiliate Paige to get back at her for their messy past with Leo.
Paige and Joshua are friends; more than that, they are engaged to be married. No, obviously not for love but to find their individual happiness. Joshua needs to marry a woman to keep his inheritance, and in return for entering this loveless marriage, Joshua will pay off the debt that looms over Paige’s parents. It is a win-win! The issue is that betrayal, scandal, and a deadly accident lie below the surface of this simple marriage for convenience.

Hysterical Hangouts with The Hindlegs
Posted by Literary Titan

Viktor Sniperbone’s previously uneventful life takes a dramatic turn when he embarks on the journey of meeting his beloved Mandi Hindleg’s family. Little did he know that Mandi’s description of her family as “wild” would be an understatement. Instead of fleeing from the impending chaos, Viktor decides to seize the opportunity and clandestinely document the eccentricities of the Hindleg clan, envisioning it as the ultimate reality show. G. S. Gerry’s Hysterical Hangouts with The Hindlegs takes readers on a side-splitting rollercoaster ride, chronicling the outrageous escapades of a family known for their penchant for outrageous and often life-threatening activities. Will Viktor Sniperbone survive the outrageous situations orchestrated by his future in-laws?
The narrative unfolds like a captivating comedy sitcom, with each chapter delving into a distinct and uproarious incident while keeping the focus on the main protagonists. These chapters are aptly labeled as episodes, akin to a television series, with the author hinting at the possibility of a Season 2. Notably, the episodes are rated TV-14, owing to their inclusion of profanity, explosions, substance usage, blood, weaponry, and violence.
Prepare to be engrossed by the sheer madness and unforgettable characters that populate the pages of this book. There is never a dull moment, as Viktor finds himself hogtied, his girlfriend’s father (affectionately referred to as The Commodore) ruthlessly amputating his own finger, and a perilous encounter with an exploding hydrogen gas balloon that nearly claims a life.
The book is peppered with delightful terms such as “ding-donging” and “further muck,” adding to the hilarity. Gerry’s vivid descriptions breathe life into the colorful cast of characters, enabling readers to visualize them with utmost clarity. The Commodore, for instance, is depicted as adorned with a sleeve of “ashen green, faded tattoos,” presenting a striking visual image.
Immersing myself in the pages of Hysterical Hangouts with The Hindlegs proved to be an enthralling experience on multiple fronts. The book effortlessly elicited laughter, awe, and even suspense as I embarked on Viktor’s unforgettable adventures.

The Woman in Green (The Enigma Quartet)
Posted by Literary Titan
The narrator of THE WOMAN IN GREEN repeatedly insults his readers of 2050 and wishes he were instead addressing readers of 2025, when somewhat fewer were boneheads. Born under a curse at the exact moment of the 9/11 attacks, he looks back on two remarkable utopian experiments-one religious, the other secular-in early 19th-century New Harmony, Indiana. He then looks ahead to his grandfather Sam Coverdale’s visionary effort in the millennial year 2000 to create a new “Boatload of Knowledge” on the banks of the Wabash. His cast of characters bears an unsettling resemblance to Mary Shelley’s circle of Frankenstein intimates.
What could go wrong? From a macabre scroll found under a labyrinth to a dramatic fiasco on the world stage to a heady balloon ride to freedom, these characters plus one prescient turtle hang on together as friends and lovers, narrowly averting suicide within the ranks. Along the way, a Byronic character merrily cites strong evidence, hitherto overlooked, that Shakespeare himself was a suicide. Against the odds, they emerge with lasting romantic bonds and a vision that the enigmatic Woman in Green will someday prosper on Planet Earth.

Spin
Posted by Literary Titan

Spin marks the vibrant debut of author Michael Fidler, inviting readers on a wry, often humorous exploration of the unscrupulous marketing world while unearthing a heartwarming tale of self-discovery.
We follow the journey of Geoff Stradling, a perpetual underachiever etching out a living in a modest tech security firm’s marketing department. He is a potential managerial candidate, but his propensity to self-sabotage repeatedly blocks his path to success. As we meet Geoff, he is fresh from a breakup with his attractive girlfriend and suffering the sting of a missed promotion, snatched by detestable character readers will love to hate.
Geoff’s fortunes take an intriguing turn when his firm is absorbed by a mammoth conglomerate notorious for its ethically questionable practices. He soon realizes that the key to career advancement lies in compromising his integrity and sacrificing his friendships, a tempting proposition for a job he has always feigned disinterest in.
Fidler’s portrayal of Geoff is nothing short of masterful. Despite Geoff’s inclinations towards self-loathing and deceit, he emerges as a comically endearing character. Even as he veers off course, his struggle to preserve his self-proclaimed “good guy” image makes for engaging reading. Even in his darkest moments, Geoff’s humor shines through.
This applies to the extended cast as well. The profound bond between Geoff and his eccentric best friend, Steve, is portrayed with a touch of poignancy. Fidler impeccably captures their yin-and-yang dynamic, leaving readers wishing for a companion like Steve. The novel’s romantic subplot, featuring the sardonic Ella, is also deftly handled, adding another layer to Geoff’s unfortunate circumstances.
Spin serves as Fidler’s platform to educate readers on the crafty nuances of marketing spin, where blatant lies morph into subtle truth modifications. Geoff is the epitome of this paradigm, making the book’s business-oriented theme intriguing even for those generally uninterested in the corporate sphere.
Spin is an engaging blend of rapid-fire wit and deep-seated humor. With his cynical pessimism and unexpected charm, Geoff is an easy character to root for. In addition, the book displays an unexpected depth of sentiment, and though its conclusion may follow a somewhat predictable trajectory, it leaves the reader smiling with satisfaction. Overall, it is a delightful read that I wholeheartedly enjoyed.
