One thing I enjoyed in the book is how the author uses big corporations and companies as examples when discussing topics. Stan Bernard includes companies like Uber, Peleton, Apple, Seedlip, Starbucks, Nike, Amazon, Zara, and Sweetgreen among others when discussing concepts. I enjoyed reading content that touched on these companies as it gave me an insight into how huge organizations are run. This topic was one of my favorite and one the most crucial topics as the author summarizes his thoughts and gives practical advice.
I like the objectivity shown by Stan Bernard throughout the book. Reading his work was a learning experience and also fun. The author writes extensively about successful people and companies and gives a word of encouragement for every reader that is taking a similar path. This book is a gem and a great reference material for anyone that has interest in marketing and branding.

Sharing What I Discover
Posted by Literary Titan

The Soulful Entrepreneur provides experienced advice, and personal stories, that will help readers start and manage their business successfully. What motivated you to write this book?
I am big on sharing what I discover on my journey. I write largely on reaching your potential in life through my Alchemy of Life Magic Series, but this book called loud and clear for me to share the success I have had on my entrepreneurial journey. I have done things my way and believe that when we are innovative in mature we need to share our findings with others so that they can apply to their journey if they resonate.
What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you first started your business?
Just do it your way. Be inspired by others but ultimately your internal navigation system is your best resource because it works 100% for your highest potential. And remember, no one will be more connected to your journey than you!
What has the biggest challenge you faced when starting your business and how did you overcome it?
I always face challenges, but they are positives because they mean I am ever evolving. Nothing can stop you unless you let it!
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I am writing The Alchemy of Life Magic which is an amalgamation (mother book) of my seven life principles series. I cover Mindfulness, Knowing, Intention, Gratitude, Love, Forgiveness and Belief in this collection.
I also have a lot of children’s books coming out this year under my Mamma Macs brand.

The Soulful Entrepreneur

The Soulful Entrepreneur is an exceptional resource for business-minded people that are ready to give their all when starting a business. When you read the book, you realize that running a business is not trouble-free. It takes time, effort, commitment, and discipline among many other things. Karen Mc Dermott is here to tell all aspiring entrepreneurs that it may be difficult at first, but it is possible. I like the positivity that is infused throughout the book. The author uses positive elements to explain concepts and to guide readers on how to approach the entrepreneur life. Karen M Dermott is great with storytelling. She narrates tales of her journey in the entrepreneur world. For someone that wanted to have a publishing house in 25 years but instead achieved her goal in 7 years, Karen Mc Dermott has a lot of wisdom to share with people that have similar goals like she had.
After ‘Introduction, and ‘The Call’, I loved the chapter on ‘Inspired Thoughts’. This chapter was relevant to me but it stood out to me because of how Karen allowed us to be part of her journey and thought process. The author shares intimate moments, deep thoughts, and talks of her plans and how she executes them. Another great chapter I enjoyed was on the power of yes and no. When do you know it is time to turn down something or embrace it? This topic will be helpful to people that often doubt themselves or are not sure of which steps to take. The author writes extensively about expressing yourself, knowing your limits, and which path to take.
The Soulful Entrepreneur is an interesting read because one gets the impression of being in a cool entrepreneurship class. Reading about real-life stories, the author’s interactions, her wins, losses, challenges, and experiences that other entrepreneurs go through was fun. The author gives wisdom on how to start, how to rise after a fall, and how to avoid missteps. There is so much one can learn in this book. The content is refreshing and the author is candid about everything she writes about. Reading this book was eye-opening and I would recommend it to readers that are looking for inspiration and those that enjoy reading success stories.

The New Currency of Marketing
Posted by Literary Titan

The Death of Content as King is a detailed guide that shows how data democracy has revolutionized the marketing industry. Why was this an important book for you to write?
There are a lot of bad reasons to write a book, and this wasn’t about selling something else to readers. In my case, I was driven by the argument I felt compelled to make about what the industry has chosen to ignore regarding marketing today. I was aware, however, that it was imperative that it be thoroughly researched and the reasons for its change were thoroughly examined.
How has your professional experience helped you write this book?
Throughout my career, I have led integrated marketing efforts for hundreds of marketing campaigns, websites, social media properties, and mobile applications. This experience has enabled me to understand why some campaigns succeed and others fail. As part of my research for this book, I compiled my learnings and weaved them with stories from my marketing career to aid the readers in understanding the arguments I have put forward.
What is a common misconception you feel people have about marketing today?
The biggest misconception is that platforms like Google, Facebook, and Amazon are here to help marketers find a free audience. As it turns out, platforms use data to provide users with an algorithm-driven experience, which is uniquely curated and tailored so products and ads can be targeted to specific users. The value of content to them is just one data point amongst many calculated to determine if it helps the platforms achieve their goals.
What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your book?
Data is becoming the new currency of marketing, and for companies to prosper in this new era, they must stop seeing data as just a collection of zeros and ones but as the most important source of consumer insight.

The Death of Content As King

The Death of Content as King: How a Data Democracy Has Revolutionized Marketing, by Jon Hinderliter, explores how content is no longer as dominant as it once was and goes on to explain how data now monopolizes marketing. This book is a well researched and thorough guide to help people embrace this new ‘data democracy’ which represents the true voice of the consumer.
Jon Hinderliter has put together a book that dives deep into the details and expounds on the ways in which data is better for marketing than content. Hinderliter brings in some of his own personal experiences that illustrate the different points being made throughout the book. I thought they were interesting and a poignant addition to the book. He explains what content is and why it is considered ‘the king’. A variety of topics are covered in the book such as platforms, social networks, targeting the journey, as well as adding things you didn’t know you would need; which for me was basically the majority of this book as I found this book unveiled issues I didn’t know existed and provided effective solutions to those problems immediately. He moves on logically from there to building your democracy to privacy and wraps it up with what’s coming next. I felt the topics were well rounded and thorough. Hinderliter expertly shows how you can use data to target and personalize what you are putting out so that you can create purposeful and specific content that is designed to succeed in the new world.
The Death of Content as King: How a Data Democracy Has Revolutionized Marketing is a must read for anyone working in marketing, public relations, advertising, or any entrepreneur that wants to succeed in this new world. Filled with detailed and actionable advice, this book provides value in more ways than one and is a critical tool in the digital age.

If I Don’t Get The Word Out
Posted by Literary Titan

The Amazon Self Publisher provides authors with the information they need to successfully promote and sell books on Amazon. What is the biggest motivating factor for you in helping indie authors?
The BIGGEST motivating factor when it comes to providing this content is fear. I made terrible mistakes and learned the hard way in my author business. I’m truly afraid people will repeat the same mistakes I did. If I don’t get the word out, I feel like my mistakes were a true waste.
What is the single biggest hurdle you find new authors face today and how can they overcome it?
The monkey mind – quite a few authors talk themselves out of great opportunities because they feel undeserving. Rather than feeling I’m inadequate, I force myself to pull the trigger. Of course, that’s easier said than done for most people.
What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you before you published your first book?
I wish someone told me to hire an editor and good cover designer. My first book is appalling on so many levels.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I’m about 3 manuscripts deep with a fourth in the works. I’d like to start launching monthly releases in 2022. By that first book launch, I’ll have about six manuscripts ready to go.

Book reviews
