Living an Honest Life

Tanja Davia Tucker Author Interview

Where Truth Lies Waiting follows a woman who has a traumatic accident that leaves her suspended between life and death, and develops a sixth sense, allowing her to hear the thoughts of those who visit her. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?

The inspiration for the setup of this story can be traced to my childhood. I was always fascinated with how people’s actions did not always match their spoken words. Say and do could be very different things. With this preoccupation, I always wondered what it would be like to know what people thought and how different it would be from what they shared verbally. As I got older and self-reflected, I realized that this “sixth sense” could be as harmful as it could be helpful in really knowing a person deeply.

What are some things that you find interesting about the human condition that you think make for great fiction?

I feel that most people are pleasers. They will tell you what they think you want to hear. Honesty, on the other hand, does not flow as freely from people. I would also say that most people aspire to be good and do good. But being and doing good usually require sacrifice and giving. It is not always easy, and that is when things get interesting. In my opinion, the “what ifs” are what drive good fiction.

What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?

One theme that is at the forefront of this novel is living an honest life. Honesty applies not only to others but to one’s own self and it can change over time, given how each of us changes and evolves. Forgiveness fits perfectly into this theme as there is bound to be a need for forgiveness as each of us searches for our own truth.

Another theme that was important for me to explore was the possibilities of what happens to us when we die. Our culture works hard at preserving youth and seeking longevity. Most people I know would not find a conversation about death and dying a very desirable topic. We tend to run from the one true fact that we are guaranteed in life: We will all die. Exploring it in fiction offers a safe space to imagine and consider, even for a moment.

What is the next book that you are working on, and when can your fans expect it to be out?

This is my third novel. At this point, I have been encouraged to write a sequel for my second novel, Three Days in Amsterdam. I am mulling that idea around. These three novels were written with a specific purpose. In all honesty, I am waiting to be inspired because that makes the pen flow with a fluidity that is magical. I strive for that magical inspiration always.

Tanja Davia’s third novel, Where Truth Lies Waiting, takes readers on an extraordinary journey into the liminal space between life and death. Yet, as Tina begins to wonder-are any of these events truly random?

Living Their Best Lives

Patricia Leavy Author Interview

Cinematic Destinies is a sweeping, heart-filled continuation of the love story between Ella and Finn Forrester. It moves the spotlight onto their adult children and explores the complexity of family ties and personal growth. What inspired the setup of your story?

It’s the third and final book in the trilogy, and honestly, I never intended there to be three books. Each one inspired the next. The second book, After the Red Carpet, sees Ella and Finn building a life together and starting a family in the shadow of Hollywood. I wanted to explore the lives of those three children when they were grown up. How would the public fascination with their parents’ love story affect them each and their love stories? Ella was always fascinated by what love might look like and feel like over a lifetime, so I also wanted to know how that unfolded for her and Finn. I could see it all so clearly it just flowed.

I loved how different each of the children are, how they each had their own story to tell. What character did you enjoy writing for? Was there one that was more challenging to write for?

Thank you so much. I truly loved writing each of them. Because each is different—their personality, their struggle, where they live—as a writer it was an incredibly fulfilling project. There was so much to explore. If I had to pick a favorite to write, it would be Georgia. I loved the way her story mirrored her mother’s from The Location Shoot. Writing about a film shoot in Iceland was also a lot of fun, although it did present challenges, essentially writing a story within a story. I really had to take my time getting that right.

What scene in the book did you have the most fun writing?

Jean Mercier is a controversial filmmaker with a dystopian outlook. His films tackle the big questions of life. To him, artists are truthtellers, they shine a light in dark places, and sometimes they have to go dark so that others may see the light. Beauty has an underside and so sometimes it’s guardian is ugly. It keeps things honest. For all three books I’ve had a blast writing Jean. In Cinematic Destinies there’s a scene in the book in which Jean and Michael, the lead actor, discuss what the film is really about. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it was by far my favorite scene to write. I was laughing the whole time.

Where do you see your characters after the book ends?

Enjoying their lives, living to the fullest, and embracing the messiness of the good times and bad. To me, the book is really about what it means to live a life and to do so with passion and love. So I know the characters are well and are living their best lives. I think they’re spending time together too, which is always so much fun. When they’re together, they’re a riot and the genuine love they have for each other always comes through.

For fans of Tessa Bailey and Hannah Grace, Cinematic Destinies is a feel-good, contemporary romance about a trio of adult children searching for love and beauty in the shadow of their parents’ legendary Hollywood fairy-tale romance.

Legendary actor Finn Forrester and his wife philosopher Ella Sinclair Forrester met on the location shoot for Jean Mercier’s film Celebration. The world has been captivated by their fairy-tale romance since Finn famously proposed on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. As the couple now prepares to celebrate their thirtieth wedding anniversary, they wonder if their children will ever find love.

Eldest daughter Betty is excelling in a medical residency program in New York City—and has convinced herself that distancing herself from emotions is the path to success. Youngest son Albert, a recent college graduate, is trying to find his footing in Boston as he struggles with his identity. Free-spirited Georgia, her mother’s spitting image and an actress following in her father’s footsteps, has been cast in Jean Mercier’s final film, mysteriously titled Beauty. When she arrives on set in Iceland and meets her costar, sparks fly. Is history repeating itself? How has growing up in the shadow of the world’s most iconic love story affected each of the Forrester children?

In this highly anticipated conclusion to The Location Shoot and After the Red Carpet, we see how Finn, Ella, and their children fulfill their cinematic destinies.

Revenge of the Sisters-A Tale of Retribution

Geri Spieler’s Revenge of the Sisters tells the story of Rose, Josie, and Dorothy Butlaw, three fiercely determined Jewish sisters raised in a 1930s Los Angeles orphanage. Scarred by the injustice they faced in high school at the hands of elitist, antisemitic classmates and complicit school authorities, the sisters reconnect as adults with a shared thirst for retribution. Through schemes both subtle and bold, they attempt to reclaim the dignity, success, and justice denied to them. Intertwined with memories of their mother Regina’s sacrifices and strength, the novel becomes not just a tale of revenge but a portrait of resilience, family, and the quiet power of standing up for oneself.

This novel left me feeling both heartened and heartbroken. Spieler’s writing carries a rich emotional current, and I found myself easily pulled into the world of Vista Del Mar and the sisters’ inner lives. The language is simple but stirring, and the dialogue felt authentic, even endearing. The pacing, while occasionally uneven, allowed the emotional arcs to fully breathe. What struck me most was how raw and relatable the sisters’ rage was. Their pain simmered, slowly shaping their decisions and relationships. The revenge isn’t played for shock or sensationalism; instead, it’s strategic and grounded in the sisters’ deep need to feel seen and respected. It made me angry on their behalf and proud of their courage.

The villains, Claire, Ellie, and their entitled ilk, were intriguing, which is why I would’ve loved to understand their motivations more deeply, beyond the stereotypical rich bully trope. At times, the prose leaned toward explanation, but Spieler more than made up for it with vivid cultural details, especially her warm, textured portrayal of Jewish traditions, Yiddish phrases, and the food. The sisters each had distinct personalities, and their banter gave the story its warmth and bite.

Revenge of the Sisters is about justice, identity, and carving out dignity in a world that would rather keep you small. I’d recommend this book to readers who love historical fiction with a personal, emotional pulse. It’s perfect for those who enjoy stories about underdogs, sisterhood, and women quietly (or not-so-quietly) rewriting their own narratives.

AFTER THE BEFORE: A Post-Apocalyptic Novel

After the Before is a gritty, post-apocalyptic journey that follows Sophie and Markus, a pair of scavengers navigating the ruins of a collapsed world known only by the mythic shadow of “The Before.” When they uncover a mysterious box during a routine dig, their discovery sets them on a harrowing trip to the City, accompanied by the enigmatic Jen and the quiet, foreboding Barth. Along the way, they encounter religious fanatics, deadly mechanical beings called A-Eye, and a stark landscape filled with craters and threats. The book weaves together themes of survival, memory, trust, and the search for truth in a fractured future.

I found myself pulled in by the writing right from the first chapter. Gammage has a way of crafting scenes that feel raw and alive. The world is bleak, but there’s something beautiful in how it’s described, grimy yet human, desperate but never hopeless. The dialogue is clean and believable, with just enough punch to feel natural. The pacing struck a good rhythm, alternating between tense action and slower, character-driven moments. I especially liked how Gammage peeled back layers of history and emotion without ever dumping too much at once. The whole story feels personal, even as it tackles big, almost mythic ideas about civilization, memory, and identity.

But what really got to me were the relationships. Sophie and Markus have this bond that’s never overly defined, and that ambiguity felt real. I also appreciated Jen’s quiet strength and Barth’s silent loyalty, which made his eventual speech hit even harder. Luther felt a little too on-the-nose as a symbol of corrupted faith, and sometimes the A-Eye threat drifted into the background when I wished it had more weight. I kept waiting for the machines to play a bigger role. Still, the story never lost my interest, and even the quieter stretches had a kind of anxious tension that kept me turning pages.

After the Before left me thinking about where we’re headed and what we choose to remember. It’s not a flashy book, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s thoughtful and full of grit. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes post-collapse fiction that isn’t just about survival but about what it means to live with a past you barely understand. Fans of Station Eleven or The Road will feel right at home here.

Strength and Fortitude

Kez Wickham St. George Author Interview

Tapestry blends historical fiction with memoir, wrapping readers in vivid, often haunting vignettes of women’s lives shaped by hardship, resilience, and a relentless fight for identity and survival. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?

The inspiration was from learning my suspicions of my DNA were true, it was the answer I needed to research. As I child, I heard many whispers of my ancestors, it has stayed with me for all of my adult life, however, once the proof of my inquiries was confirmed, I felt it was time to write about the strength and fortitude that my female ancestors lived with.

Did you find anything in your research of this story that surprised you?

Yes, I had no idea that my Aunt Marg was treated with such disdain by the women in my family and that the ‘nasty operation’ I was informed about, would now be termed as medical abuse. I was also surprised at how the Patriarchal legal system termed it as a necessary determent to solve a psychological illness.

What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?

The themes came naturally. Each century I wrote about lived very differently from the world we know today. So each century was explored for the differences in the ways women were accepted into society.

I find a problem in well-written books; in that I always want there to be another book to continue the story. Is there a second book planned?

Most definitely the next one is called The Weavers. A story about how we as women keep our tribal stories together. A more modern-day look at the telling of stories in all genres.

Tapestry: The Book of Lost Worlds is the second captivating installment in the Story Tellers series by multi-award-winning best-selling author Kez Wickham St George. In this evocative continuation, the stories of courageous women are brought to life, woven together in a rich tapestry of resilience, defiance, and ancestral legacy.

The journey begins with a mystical exorcism, where soft candlelight dances with shadows, illuminating the ghosts of the past. The narrator calls upon the whispers of her maternal ancestry, inviting them to “come sit with me.” Through this intimate connection, she delves into the lives of the women who came before her-women who stood against the injustices of their time.
These brave souls challenged societal norms, battling the rigid confines of religion, the cruelty of bullying, and the pervasive sexism that marked their world. Many were wrongfully accused of witchcraft, faced the sting of racism, and suffered under the harsh grip of patriarchal oppression. But their struggles did not end there-they also confronted the condescending snobbery and judgment of a matriarchal society that refused to understand their defiance.

Tapestry is a profound exploration of the fortitude and strength of these women, who fought battles on every front yet never lost their spirit. Their stories, once whispered through generations, are now immortalized in this book-a testament to their enduring courage, wisdom, and resilience. Rich in historical detail and deeply personal in its reflections, Tapestry invites readers to connect with the powerful legacies of women who defied the odds and carved their place in history.

Weaving together the past and present, this book is a celebration of female strength, a poignant reminder of the injustice they faced, and an inspiring tribute to their unyielding will. Tapestry: The Book of Lost Worlds will leave readers moved, inspired, and empowered by the incredible stories of women who dared to challenge the world around them.
