Exciting and Rewarding Career

Charli’s Turtle Triumph follows a young girl who, after a field trip to learn about sea turtles, finds one stranded on the beach and, with the help of her friends, organizes a beach cleanup for her community. What was the inspiration for your story?
I knew I wanted to write a series of STEM chapter books and was toying with ideas when my thirteen-year-old granddaughter painted the portrait of a sea turtle that appears on the book’s dedication page. I was so entranced by that painting that I knew I had to give the turtle a story, which is why I began the series with marine biology. I live in a coastal community where beach and ocean pollution are a real concern, and that gave birth to the plot line.
What were some educational aspects that were important for you to include in this children’s book?
This series is written to help young readers transition from picture books to chapter books, hence its format. Too often, STEM appears boring and dry to kids. I want them to see and experience the fascinating and fun aspects of STEM! As a former teacher, I know all too well that kids always ask WHY they need to learn something. In this book, I wanted to answer that for them in a practical way by showing them an example of an exciting and rewarding career path in marine biology. It’s also important to me that my characters demonstrate kindness and compassion towards themselves, others, animals, and the environment.
What experience in your life has had the biggest impact on your writing?
Being a teacher gave me a front-row seat to how kids learn to write, and a lot of that comes from the books they read. Of course, I want my books to be inviting and fun to read—but I also want them to teach the readers even if they aren’t aware that they’re learning. As I write, I think of my former students and try to put myself in their headspace to write something they would have enjoyed reading and that would have benefitted them.
I find a problem in well-written stories, in that I always want there to be another book to keep the story going. Is there a second book planned?
Yes! In fact, this is the first book in the Charli Explores STEM™ series. The second book, Charli’s Pawsome Park: An Architectural Adventure, will be released later this year. The titles that I plan to release in 2026 are: Charli’s Dorsal Device: An Engineering Adventure, Charli’s Bee-utiful Butterflies: An Entomology Adventure, Charli’s Critter Crusade: A Veterinary Science Adventure, and Charli’s Robot Rally: a Robotics Adventure. I have ideas for additional titles that I haven’t yet started.

That Kind of Girl follows an anxious and overwhelmed physician who meets a stripper-slash-therapist whose fearless confidence leaves her to question if having it all is worth the price of losing herself in the process. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
The inspiration for That Kind of Girl came from seeing the women around me trying to balance the chaos of demanding careers and motherhood. I started writing the book when I was a new mother trying to weave parenting into my life as a physician. I wanted to explore what it truly means to “have it all” and the toll it can take on a woman’s sense of self. The dynamic between the anxious physician and the fearless stripper-therapist is a way to highlight different approaches to confidence and self-acceptance. Ultimately, my hope is to inspire women to find something they love—something that grounds them and brings joy—amidst the overwhelming demands of their lives. It’s about rediscovering yourself when the world expects you to be everything to everyone.
Opal’s struggles with balancing a career, marriage, and family are relatable to many women today. Are there any emotions or memories from your own life that you put into your character’s life?
Absolutely. I often pull emotions from real life into my writing. I want the reader to experience the wide range of emotions they find on the page, often messy, but most of all the joy and levity that comes with not having to do this alone. One memory from my own life that made it into the book was writing a text message filled with four-letter words about my boss and accidentally sending it to my boss instead of my husband.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
One of the core themes I wanted to explore in That Kind of Girl is that a person is never just the sum of their past mistakes. We all carry regrets and moments we wish we could change, but those don’t define us. Redemption, I believe, truly begins with forgiving yourself—allowing space to heal and grow beyond what’s happened. Through the characters’ journeys, I wanted to highlight that self-forgiveness isn’t easy, but it’s essential for reclaiming your sense of worth and moving forward with courage and hope.
What is the next book that you are working on, and when can your fans expect it to be out?
Turbulent Skies is about a woman days away from her wedding when her fiancé has an accident that leaves him on life support. Things go from bad to worse when his ex shows up and reveals they never legally divorced, she has medical decision-making power, and she wants to pull the plug. The book is expected to hit shelves in 2026.

Will she sacrifice herself to keep everyone she loves happy?
Doctor Opal Collins is anxious and overwhelmed. So when her husband threatens to leave her
unless she finds the time to add a baby to the chaos, she digs deep to impress her boss and earn a
sanity-saving promotion. And though she’s excited by the spark between them, she knows she
should be offended when her boss suggests she trade her body for the job.
Thrilled when she earns the coveted position after setting boundaries in their scandalous affair,
Opal’s complicated dual relationships have her humming with tension. But with the tangled web
of deceit and affection already woven, she fears there’s no way out without betraying her vow to
do no harm.
Has her people-pleasing persona destroyed her dreams, or can she cling to a vestige of self?
That Kind of Girl is a wickedly witty work of women’s fiction. If you like emotional tension,
laugh-out-loud humor, and beautifully crafted prose, then you’ll adore Jacey Bici’s unexpectedly
sweet journey.

Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship
Posted by Literary-Titan

Advanced Career Intelligence is a far-reaching, no-nonsense guide for navigating the higher tiers of professional life by examining strategy, emotional intelligence, work culture, & ethical success. What were your goals when writing this companion guide to your first book?
My goal with Advanced Career Intelligence was to build directly upon the foundation established in General Career Intelligence, diving deeper into the more complex and nuanced challenges professionals face as they advance in their careers. While the first book focused on core principles—like personal integrity, foundational traits, decision-making, and soft skills—this second volume takes on the higher-order dimensions of leadership, entrepreneurship, ethical influence, managing diverse teams, and navigating cultural and organizational dynamics.
I wanted to deliver real-world, distilled insights—practical and immediately applicable—without unnecessary fluff, jargon, or abstract theory. The intent was to save readers the countless hours (and dollars) it would take to absorb the same knowledge from a full library of business books, articles, and case studies. This two-volume series is meant to serve as a comprehensive, soup-to-nuts career playbook for the modern professional—whether they’re stepping into management, leading a team, building a business, or simply striving to thrive in today’s fast-paced and often chaotic work environment.
Ultimately, I wrote Advanced Career Intelligence to empower readers with confidence, clarity, and the tools to grow with purpose—professionally and personally—while staying grounded in ethics, emotional intelligence, and long-term success.
What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?
Several core ideas were especially important for me to highlight in Advanced Career Intelligence. First, I wanted to challenge the myth that success at higher levels is all about technical skill or raw ambition. Instead, I emphasize that sustainable success depends on emotional intelligence, ethical leadership, cultural awareness, and the ability to manage complexity with clarity and integrity.
I also felt it was critical to tackle real-world issues that professionals often encounter but aren’t always trained to handle—things like navigating toxic work environments, leading diverse and inclusive teams, maintaining work-life balance, and building organizations that prioritize long-term value over short-term gains.
Entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship were other key themes. Whether someone is launching a business or innovating within an existing one, they need practical, grounded advice that goes beyond platitudes. I wanted to demystify those journeys and offer insights that are both strategic and deeply human.
Equally important was the message that it’s completely okay to fail, to stumble, or even to get laid off—because most of us do at some point in our careers. These moments don’t define us. What matters most is how we respond, what we learn, and how we grow. None of us are perfect, and none of us have all the answers. In fact, our greatest strengths often lie in our ability to reflect, to adapt, and to keep moving forward. Flexibility, nuance, and emotional resilience are powerful traits that shape not only what we achieve, but who we become—and they ultimately play a vital role in the fulfillment and meaning we find in our work and lives.
Finally, I wanted to encourage readers to see their careers not just as a ladder to climb, but as a platform to give back—to mentor others, influence positive change, and leave a meaningful legacy.
I really appreciated you sharing your stories about mentoring and role models, and how they played a part not just in your success, but also in how you viewed success. What advice do you have for leaders considering taking on a mentee?
Mentoring is one of the most meaningful and impactful responsibilities a leader can embrace. It’s not just a way to give back—it’s a powerful tool for shaping the next generation of thinkers, doers, and leaders. But in my experience, mentoring also holds up a mirror. It forces us to examine how we lead, how we listen, and whether we’re still growing ourselves.
One key piece of advice: stay humble. As people advance and succeed in their careers, it’s easy—almost natural—to fall into the trap of believing we have all the right answers. That mindset often gives rise to a rigid, command-and-control leadership style that slowly drains the enthusiasm, creativity, and initiative from otherwise exceptional teams. I’ve seen this happen time and again. Confidence is vital, but unchecked confidence can slide into arrogance—and when that happens, mentoring becomes a one-way transmission of information instead of a two-way exchange of growth and trust.
True mentorship is not about telling someone what to do. It’s about helping them uncover their own path, develop their voice, and build their judgment. It requires vulnerability, active listening, and a willingness to let others thrive—even surpass you. That kind of leadership transforms teams. A great team is always more than the sum of its parts, and when every individual is encouraged, equipped, and empowered to reach their true potential, something extraordinary happens. You get innovation. You get trust. You get momentum that can’t be manufactured through control—it has to be nurtured.
And here’s the beautiful paradox: while personal success may boost your self-esteem, it pales in comparison to the fulfillment that comes from seeing someone you mentored grow into their own greatness. Watching someone stretch beyond what they thought possible—knowing you played a small part in that—is one of the most rewarding experiences in any career.
So if you’re considering mentoring, don’t just do it out of duty. Do it because you believe in people. Do it to stay grounded. And do it because, at its best, mentoring doesn’t just change someone else’s trajectory—it changes yours too.
What is one thing that you hope readers take away from Advanced Career Intelligence?
If there’s one thing I hope readers walk away with, it’s the understanding that there’s nothing mystical, unreachable, or reserved about advanced roles like entrepreneurship, team leadership, project management, or even executive leadership. These roles aren’t reserved for the extraordinary few—they’re built on human qualities that we all possess in one form or another. Every one of us brings something valuable to the table. We may think and operate differently, but it’s that very diversity—in background, perspective, temperament, and life experience—that allows us to solve hard problems, lead effectively, and create progress in today’s fast-moving world.
You don’t need to be perfect or have every answer, or tick every box to succeed. In fact, emotional intelligence, strong behavioral ethics, a sense of purpose, and a can-do attitude can more than offset areas where experience or technical skills are still developing. Values matter. Empathy matters. Integrity matters. And more than anything, the willingness to learn, collaborate, and adapt is often what separates enduring leaders from short-lived ones.
I also want readers to walk away with a sense of peace—and purpose. Too many professionals get caught up in chasing validation, trying to meet someone else’s idea of success. But in the long run, what matters most is not what others think of you—it’s how you live, what you stand for, and how you impact the people around you.
Live in a way that serves as a positive example. Make the most of the gifts you’ve been given and the time you have. Use your position—whatever it may be—to lift others up, to make things better, and to leave a trail of encouragement, not exhaustion. We all have a role to play in shaping the world around us. Every day, we get to decide: Are we making things better—or worse?
The beauty of Advanced Career Intelligence is that it reminds us that our careers are not just vehicles for personal advancement, but platforms for human connection, contribution, and meaning. That’s the takeaway I hope stays with readers long after the final page.

Bots & Brilliance: 101 Things You Should Know About Artificial Intelligence
Posted by Literary Titan

John Binks’ Bots & Brilliance is a crash course in artificial intelligence that reads like a lively conversation rather than a textbook. The book walks readers through 101 essential things to know about AI, from its history and daily applications to its ethical dilemmas and future possibilities. Whether you’re an AI newbie or someone with tech chops, Binks keeps things engaging with humor, real-world examples, and just enough technical depth to make you feel smarter without overwhelming you. It’s part explanation, part think-piece, and an enjoyable ride through the ever-evolving world of AI.
One of the standout features of this book is its knack for making AI accessible. The early chapters, like “AI, A Love Story” and “AI for the Complete Beginner,” strip away the intimidating layers of AI and present it as something we already interact with daily, such as smartphones, streaming services, and even online shopping. Binks compares AI to a “super-smart parrot” that mimics, learns, and sometimes surprises us, a metaphor that sticks. He also dispels common AI myths grounding the discussion in reality without killing the excitement. This approach makes the book perfect for readers who might be curious about AI but don’t want to wade through pages of technical jargon.
The book shines brightest when it explores how AI is already shaping our lives. The chapters “AI in Your Daily Life” and “AI at Work” are packed with examples of how AI is seamlessly integrated into everything from social media feeds to financial markets. Binks’ take on AI-powered streaming recommendations had me chuckling, he describes Spotify’s algorithm as a “magical music cauldron” that somehow knows you better than your best friend. The way he blends humor with insight keeps things engaging, and his examples make you realize just how deeply AI is embedded in everyday experiences.
Binks also doesn’t shy away from the darker side of AI. In The Dark Side of AI, he delves into bias, job displacement, privacy concerns, and the looming question of AI ethics. These are serious issues, but Binks presents them in a way that feels like a necessary reality check rather than fear-mongering. His discussion of AI bias, where AI can inherit and amplify human prejudices was especially eye-opening. He makes a strong case for why ethical oversight is crucial and why we can’t afford to let AI develop unchecked. This section adds depth to the book, making it more than just an AI enthusiast’s handbook, it’s also a call for responsible innovation.
In the end, Bots & Brilliance is a fantastic read for anyone curious about AI, whether you’re a beginner or someone who wants to connect the dots between tech and real life. It’s especially great for professionals trying to grasp AI’s impact on their industries without getting lost in tech-heavy explanations. If you want a book that makes AI feel less like a sci-fi concept and more like an everyday reality, while keeping you entertained, this one’s a solid pick.

Foundational Research

Developing Employability Capital in University Students offers readers invaluable advice for navigating the unpredictability of the modern job market. Why was this an important book for you to write?
Having previously worked as a graduate recruiter in industry and spent the last decade in academia researching graduate employability and sustainable careers, it was clear to me that traditional skills and attributes models are no longer fit for purpose. Career development professionals and academics need an innovative tool to prepare university students for a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous labour market.
The Employability Capital Growth Model (ECGM) addresses this need by offering a versatile tool designed to help support university students across all disciplines and years of study. It considers how the interplay of nine forms of employability capital and contextual factors play out over time, leading to various personal outcomes.
This book makes the ECGM accessible to career professionals, educators, and students alike. Whether used in one-to-one coaching, group workshops, or embedded into university curricula, it equips readers with practical strategies to navigate career uncertainty and build fulfilling, sustainable careers in an increasingly complex world.
Can you share with us a little about the research required to put your book together?
Bringing this book to life required deep research and real-world application. It started with a systematic literature review which I conducted alongside Professor Yehuda Baruch and Associate Professor Melanie J. Ashleigh at the University of Southampton, UK. We identified nearly 100 academic studies published between 2016 and 2022, which informed the development of the ECGM. This foundational research is detailed in Chapter 3, while Chapters 4 to 6 introduce and explain the ECGM itself.
But theory alone isn’t enough. I wanted to see how the model worked in practice. So, I collaborated with career professionals and academics across 16 countries, gathering 19 mini case studies of how they used the ECGM with their students. Their insights, shared in Chapters 7 and 8, played a crucial role in refining the model and led to the development of a 10-step guide (Chapter 9) to help others implement it effectively.
Finally, I wanted to place the ECGM within a bigger picture. It is underpinned by Sustainable Career Ecosystem Theory (SCET), which I developed by combining Sustainable Career Theory (co-developed by Professor Beatrice I. J. M. Van der Heijden & Professor Ans De Vos in 2015) and Career Ecosystem Theory (developed by Professor Yehuda Baruch, also in 2015). Drawing on collaborative insights from the founders of the two foundational theories, SCET is introduced in Chapter 2 and revisited in Chapter 10 to show how the ECGM can contribute to a sustainable career ecosystem.
What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you were younger?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s easy to think that successful people figured everything out on their own, but in reality, everyone started somewhere. Most people are happy to share their experiences, offer guidance, and answer questions. You just have to reach out!
Beyond networking, asking for help gives you access to the kind of knowledge that isn’t written in textbooks or job descriptions. It’s those unwritten, unspoken insights that can make all the difference. Whether it’s choosing the right educational path, navigating career transitions, or even making big life decisions, learning from others’ experiences can help you avoid pitfalls, seize opportunities, and build a career that aligns with your goals.
What is one thing you hope readers take away from your book?
We are all part of a larger career ecosystem. Your career is shaped by the people, organizations, and industries around you. It does not develop in isolation. At the same time, your choices and actions also influence the opportunities available to others.
Whether you are a student, educator, or career professional, I hope this book inspires you to take an active role in shaping a future where career success is not just about individual achievement. By recognizing this interconnectedness, we can shift our focus beyond simply chasing job titles and instead work toward building sustainable and fulfilling careers.

By adopting a holistic view of graduate employability complemented by Sustainable Career Ecosystem Theory, this book offers interdisciplinary insights from applied psychology, career development, higher education, human resource management, and sociology. The book is divided into four parts:
Part I begins with the theoretical foundations of a sustainable career ecosystem and the development of the ECGM.
Part II offers an in-depth exploration of the ECGM, incorporating nine forms of capital, contextual and temporal factors, and personal outcomes.
Part III presents a 10-step guide to using the ECGM with university students, informed by 19 cases from 26 career development practitioners and academics from across 16 countries and 6 continents.
Part IV encourages readers to consider the implications for other actors within a sustainable career ecosystem and concludes with a summary of the key takeaways for each chapter.
Whether used in one-to-one sessions, group workshops, or as part of university curricula, this book makes the ECGM accessible and easily applicable for anyone seeking innovative strategies to support university students in achieving sustainable and fulfilling careers.

A Roadmap for Success

Find The Ladder takes a close look at the modern workplace and the challenges faced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. What inspired you to write this guide?
Having supported job seekers and career professionals for years, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact the pandemic had on livelihoods worldwide. Things turned really critical in the UAE where around 85% of the total population consists of expatriates, a unique situation that effected millions of workers. The sudden loss of jobs and the resulting economic instability created an urgent need for comprehensive guidance and support. My existing YouTube channel, while helpful, lacked the reach to address the widespread challenges many were facing. This realization motivated me to extend my efforts beyond digital content and move towards creating literary content.
In writing this book, I aimed to provide a deeper, more structured approach to navigating the modern workplace in the wake of COVID-19. My book addresses key issues such as remote work, skill diversification, and mental resilience, offering actionable strategies to help individuals adapt and thrive. By combining my extensive experience in career coaching with up-to-date research and real-world case studies, I aspired to create a resource that empowers readers to rebuild their careers and find new opportunities in these unprecedented times.
Can you share with us a little about the research required to put your book together?
To start my research for ‘Find the Ladder’, my first course of action was direct contact with the affected people on social platforms. I also had to conduct extensive online research, drawing from years of experience in career coaching and recruitment. I analyzed recent employment trends, interviewed a few recruitment and HR experts, and tried to gather firsthand perspectives about the future course of the employment scenario post-pandemic. Progressively, I continued incorporating data from reputable sources to ensure that the strategies and insights provided in the book are practical and relevant for today’s job market.
What is one thing you learned in your research that surprised you?
One of the most surprising insights from my research was the staggering percentage of individuals experiencing dissatisfaction in their careers. This revelation underscored a critical issue: many people feel unfulfilled and disengaged in their professional lives, leading to decreased productivity and overall well-being in their personal lives. I discovered that career dissatisfaction stems from multiple factors, which I ensured to address in ‘Find The Ladder’ to the maximum. These findings highlighted the importance of addressing career satisfaction not just for individual fulfillment but also for organizational success.
What is one thing you hope readers take away from Find the Ladder?
One key takeaway I hope readers gain from ‘Find The Ladder’ is the power of resilience and the impact of mindset-positivity in the face of adversity. The pandemic has reshaped the professional landscape, introducing unprecedented challenges and new concepts related to the overall employment scene. My goal is to empower and inspire readers to view these changes not as insurmountable challenges or obstacles, but as catalysts for growth through adaptability.
Through practical advice, strategic insights, and offering new methodologies, I want readers to understand that their career paths are not stagnant. They have the power to redefine their professional journeys, harnessing their unique strengths and passions. I hope to instill a sense of confidence and optimism, encouraging them to embrace continuous learning and proactive career management.
Ultimately, I want Find the Ladder to be a beacon of hope and a roadmap for success, guiding readers toward fulfilling sustainable careers in this new era. By adopting the principles outlined in the book, they can navigate the complexities of the modern workplace and emerge stronger, more adaptable, and ready to seize the opportunities ahead.

Find The Ladder
Posted by Literary Titan

Nadeem Shafkat Lutfullah’s Find the Ladder offers a compelling and thought-provoking exploration of the modern career landscape, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The book begins with a stark reminder of the pandemic’s devastating impact on both lives and livelihoods, setting the stage for a broader discussion on resilience, adaptability, and the power of positive thinking.
One of the most intriguing takeaways from the book is Lutfullah’s concept of the “Eureka instant,” described as ‘the critical moments of intentional thought that shape our actions and outcomes.’ He builds the book around this idea, taking readers on a journey to understand how a positive mindset is foundational to success, likening it to the opening moves in a chess game that determine the course of play.
Lutfullah excels in demonstrating his points through real-world examples, drawing from his own experiences and those of others. For instance, he tells the story of a small family-owned restaurant that successfully adopted a digital model, illustrating the power of adaptability in personal and business contexts, especially during a crisis. He addresses the challenges of such transitions honestly, including the mental health implications of prolonged isolation and the digital divide. Confidence to Speak Openly
Posted by Literary-Titan
Shadow-Claimed: Twisted Bargain with Nefarious Shadow Godlets explores the unnatural shift in humanity that has caused it to stray from its natural course and the truth as to the cause of this shift. What were some goals you set for yourself as a writer in this book?
My goal was to help people regain the freedom, confidence to speak openly about what is interfering with our ability nowadays to be genuine full human beings able to achieve happiness on our own terms.
What experience in your life has had the biggest impact on your writing?
As a foreigner who arrived in America thinking that success was a matter of hard work and merit, I was able the first few years to almost get there until I met evil. That is the experience that uncovered for me the realities that I describe in the book.
What is one thing that you hope readers take away from Shadow-Claimed?
I hope that readers heed the alarm that I look to sound in order to make the adjustments that will protect their lives from the adverse influences while preserving their humanity.

The book introduces ‘Shadow Godlets’ that exert control over every facet of our lives – our homes, relationships, careers, and even our thoughts. These unseen rulers are unfolding a grand plan to give a makeover to the human race, a plan to which many have willingly or unwittingly submitted, leading to a rise in evil.
The narrative revolves around characters who are targets of this malevolent force. It also introduces ‘Nefaros’, individuals who willingly embrace evil, and ‘Portunus’, opportunists who exploit evil for personal gain. The narrative is further enriched by the presence of ‘Involunots’, involuntary participants in this grand scheme.
By delving into this book, readers will gain a deeper understanding of the patterns of evil prevalent in today’s society. Armed with this knowledge, they will be better equipped to make informed choices, preserving their freedom wherever possible.
