Unleashed Chaos/A Novel of the Breedline Series
Unleased Chaos takes place after the Breedline Covenant destroyed the Chiang-shih demon that had possessed Sebastian Crow, half-brother to Jace and Jem Chamberlain. Jace and Jem plan for their futures with their mates. But they have to contend with the possibility that Sebastian’s mate, Eve, is pregnant by the demon. There’s also the fact that Sebastian is still on the loose and has hooked up with his twin brother who is working with the scientists who have been experimenting on Breedline individuals.
Shana Congrove’s writing style makes this deep fantasy novel easy to read. Her characters are unique and well developed as well and I enjoyed the emotional turmoil around the mates. And through all of this the Breedline Covenant struggle to accept Eve’s and Sebastian’s twins. Will they accept the twins into their lives? This was something I was on the edge of my seat for. There are several events that happen after the twins are born that kept me engaged with the story.
There is a lot of conflict throughout this dark urban fantasy story. There is a lot of moving parts to the story and a lot of events that take place. Luckily the straightforward writing keeps us on track and always sure of what’s going on, which is a good thing because these are people going in all directions in this novel. I felt like this was the climax to a series finale of The Vampire Diaries, where a lot of the tension built up is released to entertaining effect.
While I did enjoy this story, I felt that Steven found himself trusting the Covenant a little too easily. With everything he’d been through with the scientists experimenting on him, I felt that it should have taken him longer to trust people he just met. But this is a gripe born out out of my connection to the character, as author Shana Congrove knows how to get you invested in what is going on.
Unleased Chaos is full of stirring characters inside of a realistic world, or as realistic as a paranormal action drama can get. Readers will be left wanting more of the drama and more of the conflict.

Sins of Chaos – Book Trailer
As the Breedline species—a race of humans born with special powers and the gift to change into wolf form—finally destroy Dr. Hubert Crane and his unholy creation of Breedline hybrids, they are faced with something far more dangerous… and deadly. When widespread reports of gruesome attacks on homeless victims sweep across Berkeley California and the San Francisco Bay area, two local human Detectives are desperate to catch whoever is responsible for the disturbing and heinous crimes. But… they are not prepared for what they discover when they encounter three malevolent supernatural beings called… the Fury.
I Wanted to Create A New Villain
Sins of Chaos finds the Breedline species safe from Breedline hybrids but now they face something far more deadly. What were some new ideas you wanted to explore in this book that were different from The Immortal?
For Sins of Chaos, I wanted to create a new villain, or rather a trio of villains, who are far more powerful than the Breedline or any other species in their Covenant. Bringing forth this type of supernatural villains would give me the opportunity to introduce some new “winged” characters to the story who will play a crucial role in my Breedline adventures in the future.
I loved all the new exciting characters included in this story. What were some sources of inspiration that informed their character development?
Everyone wants a hero, especially in a world filled with evil and destruction. That’s when my heroes started to develop. And why not five battle angels. Of course, they are not your typical white winged angels with halos hovering their heads. I wanted my new heroic characters to be larger than life with personalities and special powers to match. Their purpose is vital to the story and will continue on in the future.
How did you come up with the idea for the antagonist in this story and how did it change as you wrote?
Crazy as it sounds, my idea for the antagonist in Sins of Chaos, came from a dream. I knew I needed new exciting villains for my story, but I struggled with the idea. One night I dreamed of three fraternal siblings with supernatural powers. They all had specific characteristics and unique powers. As time passed, they became more vivid and believable in my own mind. Although they are the “bad guys,” their story will shift toward the end.

The Breedline Series
The Immortal follows an artists who’s attacked by a creature that infects her with a virus that threatens to turn her if she succumbs to the bloodlust. What was the inspiration for the setup to your story?
In all my Breedline novels, there are situations where my characters are faced with good vs. evil, similar to the world we live today. Unfortunately, in the real world, between good and evil, “the bad guys” are sometimes the conquerors. But in my Breedline fantasy world, good always proves more powerful than their opposing evil forces. Although my characters face their share of trials and tribulations along the way, it’s important to give my readers that fairytale ending where the “good guys” always prevails in the end.
Jena is an intriguing and well developed character. What were some driving ideals behind her character’s development?
It was important for me to create a strong female character who isn’t waiting for her “knight and shining armor” to be rescued. Although she does have a supporting character to help her along the way, Jena finds her own way to overcome the dangers—which are very terrifying and unimaginable—that are fast closing in.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
The Immortal introduces new characters to my Breedline series who are “undead” and also stem from the eighteenth-century. So, with that in mind, I definitely had to put on my A-game. I love that time period, so creating characters from that era gave me that extra inspiration to do my best.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
The next Novel of the Breedline series, The Curse, will be available in early 2022. Next in line for the Novels of the Breedline series include: Living Nightmares, and The Vampires in Manhattan.

THE IMMORTAL: A Novel of the Breedline series
![THE IMMORTAL: A Novel of the Breedline series by [Shana Congrove]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41rUBcqvFdL.jpg)
The Immortal is a part of the Breedline series which follows protagonist Jena McCain as she discovers a hidden world full of magic and monsters that puts her in a situation where she must resist dark urges and accept the strange hidden world that becomes uncovered to survive.
Artist Jena McCain is attacked by an ancient creature that has been dormant underground for years. After the attack, she is afflicted by a disease that makes her crave human blood, and she has to resist the urges brought on by the disease for one hundred and one days. If not, she will transform into the monster that attacked her. In desperate need of help, her best friend, Angie, then introduces her to a world that is beyond anything that Jena expected. It is revealed that Angie can transform into a wolf and there are an entire species of supernatural creatures called Breedline.
Author Shana Congrove has created a standout novel in the saturated paranormal romance genre. The Immortal unique possess a unique and compelling lore that serves the plot well and ensures that drama is around ever corner. I enjoyed the alluring relationships between the characters, as it seems that everyone has secrets. Particularly, I loved the idea that friends, even our closest friends, keep these big secrets from us, and the friendship felt very genuine. Additionally, I like the resistance to just buy into all of these crazy circumstances that Jena is witnessing. In too many books, I’ve seen the main character accept the world for what it was and dived right into the journey. Jena’s reaction to it all gives the book feel more authentic and relatable.
The Immortal follows Jena on a race against time that keeps the story relentlessly moving forward ensuring the suspense is high and the desperation is palpable. This is a thrilling shifter romance novel that surprised me with its deep lore and methodical character development. This book will appeal to any fan of paranormal romance that wants to read an urban fantasy story that is grounded but still dramatic.
