The Bloodline Watchers: The Awakening

The Bloodline Watchers opens with streetlights failing around Sam Howardson in New Orleans, a small disturbance that soon becomes impossible to dismiss. A glowing mark appears on his chest, a centuries-old flame joins with him, and people who know his family’s history begin trying to keep him alive. The story grows from the French Quarter’s candlelit rooms and hidden passages into a struggle that reaches Sam’s cousins in Oklahoma. Its supernatural world is full of signals, shifting timelines, ancestral protections, and watchers who can find a person by the power in their blood. The stakes are enormous, but author Orion Veil gives Sam an immediate, human concern: he wants to understand what’s happening without bringing danger home to the people he loves.

That family gives the book its strongest scenes. Krishtan and Marisol protect Sam with knowledge passed down through generations, while Luke, Celine, Audrey, Kay, and Loyd meet his return with affection, fear, and questions they’ve avoided for years. Their responses feel distinct. Luke looks for a practical way forward; Celine reaches toward the strange with curiosity; Audrey struggles to fit what she sees into the faith that has shaped her life. Around them are meals, coffee, old photographs, and a grandfather’s bottles of Dr Pepper waiting in a cabin refrigerator. Those details make the inheritance tangible. When the family gathers at Tenkiller and discovers what their elders prepared, the mystery gains emotional force because the house holds evidence of care as well as secrets.

Veil writes in short, rhythmic bursts that make a room seem to breathe and a change in the air feel physical. Heat, copper, cedar, water, and a hum beneath the floor recur across the book, linking distant places and people through sensation. The style is especially effective when Sam’s childhood memories surface alongside his awakening. His fear of being unwanted has a history, and the book lets us feel how difficult it is for him to accept help. At times, the repeated pulses, pressure shifts, and declarations of gathering danger slow the action, especially as the cast and mythology expand. Still, the language gives the novel a recognizable cadence, and its quieter exchanges make the large visions and violent encounters matter.

The Bloodline Watchers: The Awakening is a sweeping first chapter in a family saga about memory, belief, and the cost of learning what earlier generations tried to preserve. It follows Sam from bewilderment toward a more deliberate sense of responsibility, while allowing the people around him to awaken at different speeds. The closing confrontation opens a larger conflict, with Loyd’s fate and the force watching the family still unresolved. What stays with me most is the image of people who’ve spent years scattered and afraid beginning to hear one another again. Veil makes inheritance feel like a live wire: dangerous to touch, impossible to drop, and brightest when the family holds it together.

My Girlfriend is a Werewolf

My Girlfriend Is a Werewolf is a paranormal romance with a healthy dose of supernatural mystery, danger, and small-town intrigue. Jack Colby is a creature of habit who likes his life predictable, so when his best friend arranges a blind date with the mysterious Selina Jenkins, he has little idea what he’s getting himself into. He’s immediately attracted to her, but her unexplained disappearances, guarded conversations, and peculiar behaviour around the full moon soon leave him wondering what she’s hiding. As their relationship develops, Jack discovers that Selina is a werewolf carrying a hereditary curse, and falling in love with her means entering a world of ancient secrets, dangerous transformations, and enemies lurking in the shadows.

The story’s central relationship explores what happens when two people fall in love while keeping very different relationships with the truth. Jack’s methodical personality makes an interesting contrast to Selina’s unpredictable supernatural existence, particularly as he struggles to reconcile his feelings for her with his growing awareness of the danger surrounding them. There’s also a colourful supporting cast, including Jack’s sarcastic best friend Tom, his sensible sister Harriet, and Mrs. Lottie Brewster, a nosy neighbour whose outrageous suspicions turn out to have some substance. Dr. Felix Carradine, an eccentric veterinarian with an unusual knowledge of lycanthropy, brings another dimension to the supernatural mystery, while Selina’s secretive coworker Marcus Eliot keeps Jack questioning whom he can trust.

The novel leans into the atmospheric side of paranormal fantasy, with moonlit forests, unsettling howls, ancient curses, and mysterious rituals creating a persistent sense of unease. As Jack learns more about Selina’s condition, the story expands from a supernatural love story into an increasingly dangerous struggle involving hidden enemies, complicated loyalties, and the possibility of breaking the curse. The writing is descriptive and emotionally expressive, with particular attention given to Jack’s anxiety and Selina’s struggle between her human identity and her wolf instincts. The narrative frequently returns to their fears, declarations of loyalty, and determination to face danger together, reinforcing the book’s central themes. Its mixture of romantic devotion, werewolf folklore, and supernatural suspense gives the story a dramatic, sometimes gothic atmosphere.

My Girlfriend Is a Werewolf is a story about trust, acceptance, and the sacrifices involved in loving someone whose life is radically different from your own. Jack’s journey from cautious, routine-loving bachelor to a man willing to confront supernatural threats provides the emotional foundation, while Selina’s inherited curse introduces questions about identity, freedom, and the burden of family history. The eventual confrontation with the forces threatening her brings the novel’s romantic and supernatural threads together, leading toward a hopeful conclusion. Readers who enjoy werewolf romance, paranormal romance novels, and supernatural fiction with devoted couples, eccentric supporting characters, and plenty of moonlit mystery will find familiar genre pleasures in this tale of love, loyalty, and life alongside a werewolf.

A Very Vivid Dream

Christine Triner Author Interview

The Demon’s Spawn follows twin sisters separated at birth whose psychic bond draws them into a centuries-old battle between good and demonic evil. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?

To be honest about two years ago I had a very vivid dream which was unusual for me. I decided to jot down what I could remember and was surprised at just how much came back to me. I found I couldn’t stop writing so went out and bought a laptop. The story just flowed and by the time I got to about 130k words I decided that I needed to break this into two novels. Then the idea came to me for the ending so this became a trilogy.

Why did you choose a sprawling, multi-generational structure for the story?

The first part of the story started with an innocent woman being accused of being a witch, and it got me wondering how I could bring what happened into the modern day. The twins she was carrying was the connection. Then the idea of where the twins came from, who fathered them followed and it just flowed from there. I think it gave me more scope to add to the characters and the story.

Did you want readers to understand Baleth’s intentions before the characters did?

I wanted the readers to see that Baleth’s intentions were always clear from the onset of the encounter with Elspeth and the reason behind this encounter. Baleth was all about revenge and how to get it. I hope the readers see him as I intended, ruthless, evil and manipulative in his pursuit of revenge.

What question do you most hope readers ask themselves after finishing The Demon’s Spawn?

I would like them to be asking what Baleth needs to do to redeem himself in the eyes of his master and who he will use to get this redemption. Will he actually achieve redemption after what happened with the twins.

Some bloodlines are not inherited. They are hunted.
Salem, 1693: as witch-hunt hysteria tightens its grip, a young wife named Elspeth becomes the target of something far older than fear. Marked by a demon’s vengeance and condemned by the town that should have protected her, she dies carrying a curse that refuses to burn with her.
Three hundred years later, twin girls are born in London—and immediately torn apart. Eliza is raised in love, protected from the truth of her origins. Eloise grows up unwanted, watched over by a darkness that whispers, encourages, and waits. Though separated by an ocean, the sisters remain bound by a brutal psychic connection: every act of violence Eloise commits tears through Eliza, body and soul.
As Eliza follows the trail to Salem, she discovers that some monsters are made, some are born—and some are family.

The Demon’s Spawn

Christine Triner’s The Demon’s Spawn is a sprawling supernatural horror novel built around an irresistible idea: twin sisters separated at birth remain psychically connected, even as one is drawn toward goodness and the other becomes an instrument of demonic violence. The story begins amid the terror of seventeenth-century Salem, where the demon Baleth sets a generational plan in motion, then follows that evil into the modern lives of Eliza and Eloise. One grows up surrounded by affection in England, while the other is raised in neglect near Salem. Their eventual collision gives the novel its emotional center and its gathering sense of dread.

Triner tells the story through short, rapidly shifting chapters that move among the sisters, their families, Baleth, and the people caught in their path. That structure makes the book highly readable despite its substantial length. The parallel lives of Eliza and Eloise create a steady rhythm of contrast, and their mysterious connection pulls the reader forward long before either young woman understands it. Baleth’s presence adds another layer of suspense because the reader can see the larger design taking shape while the characters are still struggling to name what’s happening to them.

This is graphic, full-blooded horror, and Triner commits to its brutality. The violence is visceral, the demonic menace is openly malevolent, and Eloise’s growing appetite for revenge makes her both frightening and strangely compelling. Beneath the bloodshed, though, the book is interested in the forces that shape a person: family, abandonment, privilege, resentment, and choice. Eloise’s cruelty is never softened, but her damaged childhood gives the story a human ache. Eliza’s warmth and Tilly’s fierce loyalty provide the counterweight, making the novel as much about devotion and loss as corruption.

As the action travels from Salem to England, the supernatural horror and crime-thriller elements lock together in a tense final act. The ending closes the sisters’ story with real consequences while opening the door to something even more dangerous, giving this first volume a satisfying shape and the trilogy a potent future. Triner has created a dark family saga in which evil travels through blood, trauma echoes across generations, and love must fight for every inch of ground. Christine Triner turns the bond between twins into a live wire stretched between love and damnation.

The Angel of Death’s True Origins

R.C. Vielee Author Interview

Inside Heaven Inc. follows the reluctant Angel of Death as he navigates celestial bureaucracy, mythology, temptation, friendship, and the realization that redemption begins with taking responsibility for his choices. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?

The common portrayal of the Angel of Death in modern fiction is that of a lone figure. Yet, within the name there is a recognition of the Angel of Death’s true origins, that of being an angel. I wanted create a fresh take on a familiar trope by placing the Angel of Death in a world where fitting in with all that goes along with being an angel means as defined by the common portrayals of angels with within Christian, Jewish, and Islamic beliefs… with a twist. This particular angel, Azrael, ain’t a happy camper.

How did you decide which elements of biblical tradition, apocrypha, and mythology to incorporate or reinterpret?

Azrael, speaking in modern times, takes us back to when and why the job of Angel of Death became necessary—at the time humans entered the picture—and how he reluctantly got stuck with the job.  While Genesis is natural starting point, there is a vast source of similar origin stories from other cultures that predates the Bible and offers stories that weren’t included. These sources combined to offer me, as a writer, a rich source of material for characters, events, and motivations that helped shape the celestial and earthly worlds I created. It’s a mythological retelling of sorts in the voice of a sarcastic narrator, Azrael, the Angel of Death who doesn’t see things the way you’d expect from an angel in Heaven.

Azrael’s sarcastic, conversational voice is central to the novel. How did you develop that voice, and did it change as you wrote?

I imagined Azrael as an everyman who’s not happy in his, and internalizes his disagreement with management’s way of doing things. An employee stuck in a job where he or she has few friends, working for a boss who doesn’t seem to care about his or her feelings, whose only objective is to see that Azrael gets the job done. The irreverent voice grows out of that perspective. Yet, as Azrael struggles over the centuries that follow, his view of Heaven and humans changes along with the narration style of his story.

Redemption becomes increasingly important as Azrael’s story unfolds. What do you hope readers take away from the novel’s ideas about accountability, mercy, and the possibility of change?

My first objective is that readers are entertained and enjoy Azrael’s story. The character might be snarky at times, ruffled by events that keep pushing him deeper and deeper into a job he never wanted, but that doesn’t mean Azrael can’t change. It takes courage for Azrael to admit to his own faults, to accept responsibility for what he has become, and when faced with eternal damnation, he will either rise above it or be condemned for eternity. Free will and accountability for the choices one makes in life aren’t unique to angels.

Inside Heaven Inc. Confessions of Azrael, reimagines the Angel of Death as a disgruntled civil servant trapped in Heaven Inc.’s dysfunctional bureaucracy. With irreverent humor, emotional depth, and the occasional deadly serious moment—all delivered in a sharply contemporary voice—Azrael recounts humanity’s chaotic rollout, his disastrous run-ins with Lucifer, and the celestial hierarchy determined to keep him in a job he never wanted.

When Azrael’s only friend, the Angel Samael, is dragged into Hell by Lucifer’s minions, Azrael must descend into the Abode of the Damned and confront the purpose he’s spent millennia railing against—his eternal fate hanging by a thread if he can’t embrace the destiny he never asked for.

A mythological reimagining of the Angel of Death—jaded and trapped in a job he never wanted, with only one way out… through Hell.
