State of Revolution
Posted by Literary Titan

State of Revolution details the author’s fascinating journey through New Jersey. Frazza was highly interested in the history of his home state of New Jersey, he was especially fascinated by the historical monuments that were from the Revolutionary War. After he explored nearly 650 historic locations, he created the Revolutionary War New Jersey website.
Author Al Frazza successfully shows both his trials and triumphs on his journey. It is refreshing to read about the author’s passion for learning more about the history of his hometown. I enjoyed reading about the author’s process and even though he was unsure if he would be able to complete this journey he continued on.
It’s inspiring to see the author take his lack of experience as a historian and create a website that is dedicated to teaching others about the history of the New Jersey Revolutionary War. While I enjoyed this enlightening book, I would have liked to have seen some of the pictures that the author took on his travels to be incorporated in the book as I think it would enhance the reader’s experience.
Frazza does an excellent job of teaching readers about history while keeping the reader entertained with compelling storytelling. I was engaged from the turn of the first page. It was like I embarked on my own journey through New Jersey. This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to travel, readers who are interested in history, and anyone living in New Jersey that wants a fresh perspective on the state.
State of Revolution is a fascinating travelogue that colors an intriguing memoir with interesting historical facts. Author Al Frazza has written a fantastic book for anyone who wants to broaden their horizons and learn something new about a place and a person they might not have known about otherwise.

The Mystery Stone
Posted by Literary Titan

Jeanette Hillestad is a archaeologist that has always believed family comes first. She arrives in Ireland looking for her brother, Thomas. He is the golden child in her family, she is thought of as the overachiever, the perfectionist. Yet, she is always the one that bail’s Thomas out of trouble because Thomas is somewhat of an adventurer. This time, Thomas has gone missing and she ends up looking for answers from Conlin Murphy, the Irishman Thomas met while staying in Ireland. Her family thinks she’s over-reacting by jumping to conclusions to look for Thomas, however, what Conlin tells Jeanette has her troubled. What happens next is a story of love, faith, adventure, relics and… the supernatural.
The Mystery Stone is a compelling adventure novel that is filled with everything you want in a thrilling romance story; an intrepid sense of adventure, romantic intrigue, and a villain that readers will love to hate.
Jeanette, the lead character, is headstrong, smart, and lovable but her one flaw is putting others before herself, even if it costs her. Conlin Murphy, Jeanette’s love interest, steals your heart easily. He’s smart, passionate, capable and his love for his daughter is wonderful to observe. Saoirse, Conlin’s daughter, is a natural scene-stealer. She acts worldly and is never afraid to crack a joke at her old man’s expense. The characters are wonderfully developed, and readers will find themselves rooting for them as they enjoy this edge-of-your-seat and will-they-won’t-they romantic novel.
This energetic action story is wonderfully crafted, with vivid action scenes that will keep you furiously flipping pages. I also enjoyed how detailed the scenes are. The author takes time to really place readers in each setting, which is important in a novel that takes you to some fantastic places.
The Mystery Stone is a must read for readers looking to be swept away on an enchanting adventure that is imbued with a sense of romance and intrigue right from the beginning. With an ending that is worth waiting for, this is definitely a story that stays with you long after the final page.

Em’s Awful Good Fortune
Posted by Literary Titan

Em’s Awful Good Fortune by Marcie Maxfield is a fantastic novel that masterfully displays all that goes inside the mind of a woman when her life is uprooted by her partner’s ambitions. Em has desires of her own: a good family and a career; but just when she thinks she might have things figured out, she realizes that life does not always go as you plan. For Em, getting married and having children was just another thing to check off a list to achieve the perfect, balanced life. However, she soon discovers that sharing a life with another person is not always smooth sailing. Pretty soon she agrees to give up her life and her ambitions so her husband can pursue his own. Em, tagging along with her husband, loses herself as she travels across big cities in various countries, resentment and anger growing, wondering if she’ll ever get to be happy again.
This novel’s greatness is based on one main thing, and that’s how realistic the story is. It is told from the perspective of the main character, Em, and you can’t help but immediately feel attached to her. You understand what she’s going through and how trapped she feels. Every feeling, every new thought she has is displayed in such a way that makes her feel very real as a character. She goes through many things and emotions, and every time I felt as if I was in her shoes, just based on the style of the narration.
Em’s life could appear from the outside as a luxurious adventure. Because of her husband’s job she gets to visit many cities, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul… But it all comes with one price: she has to give up her life, her needs and desires. Understandably she starts to feel miserable, not knowing how to escape this awful fortune that’s befallen her.
This is a very detailed story of the life of a “tagalong wife”, and portrays excellently what so many women have gone through and still go through in their lives as mothers and wives: how many times they’ll have to give up their own unique traits and ambitions as a sort of “sacrifice” for the rest of the family. This book is not necessarily a feminist one, but it surely does open a discussion about how “violated” the life of a woman can become the moment that she loses herself to satisfy others around her at all costs.
Em’s Awful Good Fortune by Marcie Maxfield is a raw and realistic story that deals with complex topics such as family, relationships and finding one’s purpose in life. With an engaging narrative and immersive storyline it was hard to put the book down. By the end, despite the difficulties and the bad feelings that Em goes through, there’s one thing she’ll surely teach you: to stand up for yourself.

Stories from Ecuador
Posted by Literary Titan

Stories from Ecuador is a collection of short, well-put-together, and connected stories of the author’s experiences while living and working in Ecuador. The book consists of thirty-four different stories all about the beauty of Ecuador and its welcoming people. It follows Nelson himself as he sets on a journey to work in this foreign country as an English teacher there. He writes about his whole experience from arriving at the airport in Ecuador and needing to quickly switch hostels due to overbooking, to detailed and beautifully explained sightseeing experiences in and around Cuenca, to the everyday life and activities he did and his overall impressions of the country that he got to call home.
One of my favorite stories definitely has to be one of the first stories in the book, where he meets his first friends there, Sheik and her son José. It is a heartwarming story about people instantly coming together and it sets the comfortable and cozy tone for the rest of the book. Nelson did a fantastic job at describing all the beautiful sights you can see and experience in Ecuador.
The book also does a great job of conveying that sense of the unknown that comes with moving to a foreign country and all the love, positivity, laughs and friendships that come with it. In addition to that, the book is filled with pictures of all the people and sights that the author got to meet and see during his stay. This really helps readers to become fully immersed in the authors experiences and understand the beauty with their own eyes.
Stories from Ecuador by Tyrel Nelson conveys all the wonder and joy that comes with traveling and living in a foreign land. It will certainly make you want to visit Ecuador. This is an entertaining and educational book that will transport you to South America as it provides a clear and beautiful view at one persons time in an exotic country.
