ELIXIR: A Journey into Ancestral Alchemology

Gisella Rose’s ELIXIR: A Journey into Ancestral Alchemology is a lush blend of memoir, mysticism, and method. It’s a spiritual guide that threads together genealogy, astrology, elemental wisdom, and somatic awareness into what she calls “Ancestral Alchemology.” The book opens with her near-death experience at age three and moves through a lifetime of weaving ancestry, astrology, and self-healing into a single sacred practice. Rose explains how the elements, fire, water, air, and earth, shape not just nature but the stories of our bloodlines. Through the “MoonTree Chart,” she shows readers how to trace cosmic patterns through family history, turning family trees into living constellations. The work is both personal and strangely universal, a map for anyone wanting to understand where they come from and how to heal old generational wounds.

The writing is rich and sensory, sometimes so poetic it hums. Rose’s language is vivid and flowing, full of emotion and imagery, though at times it wanders into repetition. Still, there’s a raw sincerity that holds it all together. I loved how she brought her grief and her wonder into the same space, never polishing away the human messiness behind the mysticism. She invites the reader to think of ancestry not as data but as story, as breath, as pulse. The mix of spiritual and practical astrological charts, along with reflections on trauma and epigenetics, makes the work feel grounded even when it reaches into the mystical.

At times, the writing drifts into abstraction, and I found myself wishing for a few more grounded examples or simpler turns of phrase. Still, the poetic rhythm has a beauty that draws you in. Those slower passages feel intentional. It’s a book meant to unfold gently, best read slowly. I often paused to reflect, thinking of my own family and the quiet stories resting in my roots. The book left me with a soft ache and a lingering curiosity that felt both tender and alive.

ELIXIR is best suited for readers drawn to the mystical and introspective, people who love astrology, ritual, or personal transformation through ancestral work. It’s a companion for seekers. I’d recommend it to anyone who feels their roots tugging at them, who wants to bridge the spiritual with the tangible, who believes that healing can travel through time.

A Star-Dusted Feat

Patricia Bossano Author Interview

Cuentan Mis Estrellas takes young readers on a journey into the cosmos to learn about how constellations influence our personalities and destinies. Why is this an important topic to teach to children?

Astrology has been a favorite topic of mine since I was very young—I love my horoscope sign! (Aquarius). The fact that thousands of years ago, humanity had the wisdom and patience to observe the heavens, map out the constellations, and pinpoint their influence over the earth and its inhabitants, is a star-dusted feat that has shaped minds since the beginning of time. Cuentan mis Estrellas introduces young readers to that vast, ancient world, in a relatable, whimsical way.

How did you approach writing about zodiac signs, ruling planets, elemental affiliations, and how they relate to birthdates in a manner that would appeal to and be understood by children?

There is plenty of information out there on astrology, the zodiac, horoscopes, etc., but my most trusted source is The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider and Joost Elffers. It contains “personology profiles for each day of the year”. Cuentan mis Estrellas identifies each sign (dates, elements, constellations, etc.) and highlights a couple of the main traits with a fanciful verse and lively illustration.

What were some goals you set for yourself as a writer in this book?

As ever, my goal in writing is to amuse and provide an escape. Cuentan mis Estrellas was a challenge because each sign included only a short verse. I’m not a poet, so as a writer of prose, condensing large amounts of information into mere sentences with a degree of musicality, was difficult, but after various re-writes, I think each page is bound to put a starry smile on the young reader’s face.

Is this the first book in the series? If so, when is the next book coming out, and what topics will the next book cover?

Alas, Cuentan mis Estrellas, is not a series. I do have an unrelated project coming out in December 2023. It is the translation into Spanish of Cradle Gift, book 2 in my Faerie Legacy Series. The new book is entitled: Un Don de Cuna.

Behavioral Astrology

Behavioral Astrology: How To Interpret Your Relationships, Soul, and Self Through The Zodiac Signs by Charlie B. Emerson is an informative self-help book that provides valuable insight and probing questions towards horoscopes and their impact on relationships. In addition, this book addresses how the positions of the stars and planets may influence the day-to-day lives of individuals.

Behavior Astrology expounds upon a multitude of topics related to the astrology of the zodiac. These topics include but are not limited to: a step-by-step guide on how to interpret your birth chart according to astrology, what behavioral astrology is, how to identify specific behavioral traits, navigating your behaviors, relationships, and intimacy in the zodiac, and more.

Emerson does a great job of recognizing that not everybody is fond of the idea of astrology and that some may view it as limiting. However, many people are drawn to it due to the nature of gaining clarity and conveying ideas about themselves. Emerson offers an open mindset to individuals who may question the validity of astrology and encourages readers to use what they learn in his book as a tool to implement into their relationships.

This book allows for an expansion of mindset by challenging readers with prompts, visuals, and valid information over the subject matter of relationships and behavioral astrology. It was interesting to see how different signs are compatible with one another while others are not.

Overall, this book was informative, challenging, and enjoyable to read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to learn more about horoscopes as a way of thinking, how they affect spirituality, and how they affect individuals who follow their zodiac as a guide to life.

Behavioral Astrology: How To Interpret Your Relationships, Soul, and Self Through The Zodiac Signs is a self-help and reference book. Anyone with even a remote interest in Astrology will find something of value in this fascinating book.

An Unknown Space

Eleanor Tremayne Author Interview

Eleanor Tremayne Author Interview

Destiny Revealed begins with Gabby in a precarious situation, one that propels readers into an intriguing adventure. What was the inspiration for the setup to this thrilling novel?

The 1960’s was a fascinating time to be a teenager, although none of us realized it until much later in life. The historical events, music, art, pop culture, all contributed in many ways to who we are today. I knew many “Gabbys” in my high school in California. I experienced the loss of a “Jake” at an early age, as a result of the Vietnam war. In college I studied Literature, graduated with a BA and MA in English and became a high school teacher. Those years resulted in my continued appreciation for every author that I taught, even those that I was not always fond of. It was always my desire to be a writer. And, although I believed I could be successful, those years were so busy, teaching, raising a family, living life that there was little time for writing. Finally, once retired from teaching, and moving to the Midwest, my passion to write returned. As I met other people from this region, one thing that we all had in common was our memories of the ‘60s. This is when I decided to create a story that my generation, and hopefully others, could relate to; the desire to sometimes want to revisit those wonderful early years, and even reflect on what might have happened differently based on our choices.

In Destiny Revealed, the sequel to my first novel, Destiny Revisited, it begins where the last one ended, Tybee Beach near Savannah, Georgia. Gabby has come full circle and is still struggling to understand why happiness is eluding her.

My objective with this novel, was to answer all of the questions that still remained at the end of the first novel, now that all of the characters are approaching middle age. This is why I provided the history backdrop to the the two main characters, still living, Caden Cassidy and Sterling Powers. Destiny Revealed hopefully will add a new dimension that readers will appreciate.

I enjoyed how Gabby’s character continued to develop as the story progressed. What were some themes you wanted to capture in her character and the relationship with the men in her life?

Gabriella, means , a gift of strength from God. In this novel it will take her as much patience and self reliance as possible to make it through her complicated life. Each of the men in her life, Jake Girard, Caden Cassidy, Alex Blair, and Sterling Powers have contributed to her growth as a woman. But, it is not until she meets the mysterious lady, Maggie Mendoza, born on the same day she is, forty years later, and experiencing the same life threatening experience, on the same day, two thousand miles apart, is she able to realize how strong she is. Although I provide clues to the reader about what will ultimately happen, I am hoping that the conclusion is powerful and surprising.

The story has underpinning of a supernatural force at work, but I felt that the novel was well grounded in reality. How did you balance this while writing?

Balancing the supernatural with reality happens everyday, people just don’t always realize it. Whether it is prayer, or astrology, or a Shaman who performs rituals in Catemaco, Veracruz, people are in search of relief from their pain. By including Jake’s journals, Gabby believes she will be connected to him, even in death. The coincidence between Maggie and Gabby are both mysterious yet, realistic. We just do not always have the opportunity to meet our doppelgängers. My intention is to lead the reader into an unknown space without making it uncomfortable.

What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?

Seven Days in Lebanon, my third novel, takes a totally different approach than my first two novels. It is based on the true story of my grandmother’s exile from St. Petersburg, Russia during The Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 and her marriage to the last Prince of Kiva. This is a historical fiction that is now complete and will be available at the first of next year.

The Mermaid’s grandmother is my next novel that I am currently writing. Although not completely “fleshed “ out it will be a story told by an aging mermaid that lives a normal life with a few idiosyncrasies. Her grandson, also part merman does not have any idea about his heritage. The bond that the two of them share, will offer readers a new perspective on some traditional legends.

Destiny Revealed by [Tremayne, Eleanor]

“Where the hell are you, Gabby?” Is what Caden Cassidy wants to know and Destiny Revisited readers are also asking. It is also what Gabriella Gerard Blair wants to discover.

Floating in the freezing Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by ashes, Gabby has no idea why she is at Tybee Beach and who saved her from drowning. It is Sterling Powers, a man from her past, who she turns to for some answers.

What Gabby finds is more questions than any answers. Can Caden convince Gabby that fate has finally allowed them another chance at happiness? What secrets are Sterling keeping from Gabby, and why? Will Jake’s journals be her guidebook to the parallel universe?

Perhaps the answers will finally be found at The Hotel California, in Todos Santos, Mexico when she meets the proprietor, Eleanor Rigby. It is here when Gabby, in desperation, decides to visit a Shaman located at Catamaco, Veracruz, the capital of sorcery.

The Seed of Curiosity

Patricia Bosssano Author Interview

Patricia Bosssano Author Interview

Cradle Gift follows Maité as she discovers the origins of her gift and the meaning behind her ability to move in and out of dreams. What were some new ideas you wanted to expand on in the second book in the series that you didn’t, or couldn’t, get to in the first book?

Here are a few of the things I wanted to explore with Cradle Gift:

  1. I’ve always been fascinated with Lucid Dreaming, so to continue expanding my knowledge on that subject was very satisfying. Although I put it to my readers as acradle-giftedability, Lucid Dreaming is something you can develop and perfect through practice… maybe not to the astral projection level Maité achieves, but it’s as close to having wings or gills as we can get.
  2. I wanted to establish the 200-year gap between Celeste and Maité, and plant the seed of curiosity over what happened with the family during those 2 centuries.
  3. I wanted to highlight “adaptability” without denying the suffering and struggle it takes a person to achieve it. I agree with Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” Maité is strong, intelligent, adaptable and therefore, a survivor.

You were able to craft a world that was equally as beautiful as in book one. What were some lessons learned in book one that helped you write book two?

Book 1 was my first full-length novel and through its production I learned a great deal about the technical aspects of publishing, but more than anything, that is where I began to develop “my voice.” Faery Sight became my go-to document for Cradle Gift because locales had been established there along with coordinates for the Faerie Realm—I was so glad that I kept my drafts, maps, and notes! I took with me a briefcase stuffed with all my papers when I traveled to San Sebastián, Spain. I stayed there for one whole blustery week in March to round up my research.

Maité continues to be a dynamic and intriguing character. I find that authors are sometimes exploring their characters when writing just as much as readers are when reading. Do you find this to be true? What kind of exploration did you do with Maité’s character in this book?

The women and girls in my family are the inspiration behind my stories—the series really is a family affair.

The girl on the cover of Cradle Gift is my niece (my older sister’s first born), some of her character traits and astrological attributes account for a big part of Maité’s personality.

FYI: My younger sister’s first born is on the cover of Faery Sight, and my daughter is on the cover of Nahia.

Nahia is the third book in your Faerie Legacy series. Where can readers expect the story to go in the next installment?

Nahia is a common denominator whose story covers the 200-year gap between books 1 and 2.

I consider this novel is a philosophical-fiction of sorts because it is about Nahia’s journey to know herself, to find her place in the world. She’s willful and stubborn, she’d rather ask for forgiveness (grudgingly) than permission, but when the weight of the realm is thrust upon her, Nahia, accepts the challenge, realizing that the time for her to grow up is at hand.

Her strengths and weaknesses lead her to change the genetic footprint of humanity, and to a bitter sweet victory.

Cradle Gift (Faerie Legacy Series Book 2) by [Bossano, Patricia]On the day she was born, Maité received a cradle gift from the faery Nahia—a gift that allows her to travel into other worlds while in a dream state.

At seventeen, Maité’s mortal world is torn apart with the tragic loss of her parents. Uprooted from the only home she’s ever known and isolated in a foreign country, the young woman struggles to make sense of her new life. But the conflict in the realm of Faerie is about to bleed over into Maité’s reality. She finds herself in the middle of an ancient struggle between Nahia and the Beautiful One as they furiously clash for control over the realm.

Through her Cradle Gift, Maité uncovers the extent of the Faerie Realm’s involvement in her life, and in her quest to come to terms with it, Maité has the help of best friend Emily, and David; a young man whose interest in genetics illuminates possibilities that will change her identity forever.
