The Road That I Found

Edward Scott
Edward Scott Author Interview

Hidden Unknown Truth is a guide to consciousness, spiritual awakening, and helps readers discover the joy of living. Why was this an important book for you to write?

For most of my childhood and young adult life I struggled with fear. This fear caused anxiety which was at times quite overwhelming. It stopped me from living as my true self. I did whatever I could to fit in and gain approval and acceptance from others. I would compromise my integrity just to feel accepted. It stopped me from taking healthy risks and from many opportunities. This fear eventually brought me to a place of despair by the time I was 30. With a child on the way I decided that I needed to find a solution. I began seeking. I found that seeking a solution to my ever chatting and fearful mind was actually the solution itself. When I focused my attention on hope that there was a solution to my fear, I had already begun to set in motion the manifestation of the solution. The road that I found myself on was practicing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to challenge my thoughts and help me with seeing the truth about any irrational fear.. This eventually brought me to meditation which has enabled me to contact something within me that is void of fear. A neutral state of being that brings relief and fresh perspective. From here I had questions, a lot of questions which lead me to seeking spiritual guidance. I experimented with contemplative and selfless prayer, gratitude journaling, and giving of myself to help other people. I found that when I focused on meeting the needs of other people, I was not focused on my own fear or unquenchable thirst to feel content. This was the turning point. This is when I realized that I only have a problem when I think I have a problem. To the degree that I try to contribute to life, are my own struggles taken care of, seemingly without my intervention.

The reason it was important for me to write this book is due to a decision I had made, that if I ever found out how to have peace of mind, that I would share it with anybody who was seeking it.

What do you feel is a common misconception people have about spiritual enlightenment?

It seems to me that society has the idea that spiritual enlightenment is reserved for the mystics. That we can only achieve enlightenment after we have solved our outer worldly problems or after years of intense spiritual teaching and practice. I believe wholeheartedly that spiritual awakening or enlightenment is available to us all now, if we seek it.

What were some ideas that were important for you to focus on in this book?

I hoped to produce a complete spiritual guide laid out in a step-by-step fashion using everyday language, so that anybody can make contact with their own conception of a higher power, that will solve any difficulty they face and give them purpose and direction.

Another important idea is that when we focus on a solution, it becomes bigger. When we focus on a problem, it becomes bigger. When we do what we think is good, we attract good. When we do what we think is bad, we attract bad. If we have any problem, the key is to stop thinking about it and focus on what you believe is good. Whenever the problem arises is your thinking, again, stop thinking about it and focus your attention on what is good, such as your higher power. Eventually, your problem will be taken care of if you are persistent with this powerful technique.

Our mind is the creator of our daily struggles. We create our own problems. When we live in fear, we react in fear and this sets us on a path of unconsciously creating our own self-fulfilling prophecy. When we live in faith, we respond in faith, and unconsciously create peace and emanate love.

What is one thing that you hope readers take away from your book?

The most important idea that I wanted to impart was to watch our thoughts. As soon as we become aware that we are thinking about something, we are no longer controlled by that thought pattern. We have a choice let it go or not. Our thoughts lose all power when we bring them into the light of awareness. They are just thoughts. This one practice will change how we think, feel, and act. We do not have to act on any thought that enters our mind, ever, provided we are aware of the thought.

God Knows Our Hearts

Dr. Ronel Benade Author Interview

Heavenly Whispers is a daily devotional perfectly written for people on the go. Why was this an important book for you to write?

So many people are working unprecedented hours night and day to provide for their family and make their mark in the workplace, leaving them with some guilt for not taking time to give to God. My purpose with this book was to remove that “guilt” we easily place on ourselves. God knows our hearts, and responsibility. With this book I give you, one thought and scripture to focus on, something to ponder during your hectic schedule. I tried to be as balanced as possible, covering different aspects you might encounter or gain new insight.

Time with God has nothing to do with time on a clock, to me it is sacred time during those busy hours where your inner man reflects and speak to God.

This book contains so many beautiful and inspirational selections of scripture. How did you choose what went into this book?

Honestly without the guidance of the Holy Spirit I don’t think I would have been able to write this book. Some life experiences and lessons I have learned He would bring to remembrance, and when praying about it, I would ask for words that would be helpful to the reader.

My favorite is John 17:17 on day 125. Do you have a favorite from this collection?

Day 189, Ephesians 3:16 is just one of my favorites. This one however is based on a personal encounter I went through when I was only a 3-day, born again baby. Back then I did not yet have a Bible, and, when faced with a demonic force I had to take a stand and say “no” 3 times, before that entity would leave me be. This is where I learned about the power our words have. With Christ taking the center within your inner man, you are an unstoppable force.

What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?

I just released a booklet in my Mother tongue; Afrikaans, as I believe my own “people” are deprived of new revelation God has for them, and we are in uncertain times in our country. My heart’s desire is that it would release new hope and inspiration. I would like to however release my next book in 2020 but I am working through some ideas.

Universal Truths

Debjeet Mukherjee Author Interview

Debjeet Mukherjee Author Interview

Voyages is a collection of poetry that inspires reflection while also helping readers grasp a deeper meaning of poetry. Why was this an important book for you to write?

Voyages was my way of showing to the world how I perceive the everyday things that go unnoticed. My philosophy coupled with my thoughts in order to point out some universal truths about human nature. The collection is almost like a guide which will take anyone through their teenage years and relive their memories.

What is a theme you find yourself drawn to when writing?

I believe in the abundant goodness that lies in every person. Luck always guides you to be someone greater than yourself. The infinite energy of the cosmos brings balance and harmony to our thoughts, if we allow them to. Every day promises new opportunities which help us move higher and these are the themes I deal with. My writings have inspiration and love.

One of my favorite poems from the collection is ‘Prayers Alive in Hope’. What is your favorite poem from the collection?

Wow! Thanks. “Prayers Alive in Hope” is indeed one of my best poems. My favorite poem would be “Heavens Face”. It was written when I was 15 years old after reading Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist”.

What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?

The next book will be VOYAGES Volume II – A Collection of Short Stories available end 2019/early 2020. I occasionally release small short story booklets and one such has already been published titled “A Rural Coincidence” which is available on Amazon. The next short story booklet will be released on Mother’s Day titled “The Farewell”.

VOYAGES Volume I : A Collection of Poetry by [Debjeet Mukherjee]

Voyages Volume I is a collection of poems written to break the notion that poetry is an art comprehensible only by the elite. Understanding good poetry becomes easy when there is a guide to help understand all those complicated words and lines. Keeping in mind the feelings of the reader, a small quotation has been provided at the end of each poem, carrying a message of what the preceding lines were all about. This style of writing has been chosen as most of the time we fail to understand that poetry is very much a part of our life.

Whether it be sharing good wishes everyday on social media or going through some lovely quotations to uplift our moods, life is just one big book of poetry that we refuse to understand in popular culture. Just like a ship embarks on a voyage, searching and exploring new continents through vast reaches of the ocean; our life too embarks on a journey of adventures which are best described in poetry. I believe this collection would be able to help readers appreciate poetry as a whole and live up to every possible expectation.

Charlas Con Dios En Calzoncillos

Charlas Con Dios En Calzoncillos by [Chapunoff, Eduardo]

Through a fun, interesting, educational and thought-provoking story this work describes the role of religion in the world and many of the ancient approaches that exist about the role of God in the lives of people. This is Roger’s coming into the world and his affair with Juan, who never thinks about all the things that were going to happen with his unexpected visit. The book also has some fictional episodes, seeking to reflect on what is important in life and the most important lessons God has for each of us.

This book is primarily a teaching tool aimed at readers interested to know more about the established foundations of major religions in the world, its origins, more powerful beliefs and conceptual differences between them. Similarly, this book talks about specific situations in life that people go through and how God can act to make positive changes in each. On the other hand, it has many stories that invite you to think of the most complex questions that can be had in religion.

This book gives the reader a tour of an adventure between John, Roger, Laura, Luis and Horacio, who live their own conflicts and how God can positively impact each of them. Dr. Chapunoff has captured a mix of emotions, truths and feelings between God and the most important representatives of the religions of the world, who talk about the strengths and weaknesses. Each gives the reader a deeper understanding. Each of these sketch the conceptual differences and tolerance zones that have allowed them to coexist since ancient times to the present.

This book delves into the nature of miracles, which can exist at the same time, and may be the result of religious practices. The beautiful, controversial and incredible power of God above all things is a pointed underlying theme throughout this book. It highlights the magic that exists between the unbelieving human and goodness of the almighty God, who is always present and accompanying all people, without distinction. This is an otherworldly book with earthly ramifications.

103 Simple Poems From One Simple Person

With a collection of singular point of view narratives the author, Mayne Leitzer, offers his first complete book of poetry; 103 Simple Poems From One Simple Person. The book is sectioned into chapters outlining the types of poems that follow, what those writings mean to the author, and how they came to be. The title is indicative of the style of writing, not the writer, as the poetry is fairly simple; using straight forward thoughts and uncomplicated prose to reflect on life’s complications. The story arc is more of a summation of personal perspective and reflection than a journey forward or illustration of action.

In penning “103 Simple Poems” Mayne Leitzer offers up self reflection, self deprecation, a heavy dollop of fundamentalist religious dogma, and more than a little bit of sadness and remorse, with a glimmer of joy and hope.

Many of his poems are jargon one could find on a motivational poster or greeting card, but that is not at all bad. Life can get messy and sometimes people need soft, plushy words to find comfort and solace. The reader will find many situations that they can relate to; lost love, death, pursuing success, loneliness, finding your destiny, conflict of conviction, etc.

However, there are many poems that can be divisive. Sex before marriage, gun control, abortion, prayer in school, Heaven and Hell, those types of things. The thoughts Leitzer lays out are organic in nature and not derived of a need to be quoted for inspirational prose or to start a deep conversation, but rather, just as he states; a need to express his soul at different stages in life.

Some poems showcase the more complex layers of his humanity that struggle to shine under the dominance of a narrow vision.  The Promised Land poem is thoughtful and embraceable. Not a Bad Day and One Moonlit Night lets out his optimistic side which he admits is not in his nature. Leitzer is honest about his mistakes and his struggle with alcoholism. His love poems are truly good; especially Seasons, A Smile and Rock A-bye.

There are a few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors, which are distracting as is his zealous religious fervor, but his writings let the reader feel his authenticity and the last few poems wrap up nicely to summarize his goal and wishes for success.

This book uses simple and fluid style to expand peoples emotional depths but seemed content to keep its voice generalized. The individual writings have value no matter your religious leanings. At the end the reader will come away with some reflections of their own and maybe, quote a few lines for their own stages of life.

The Beauty of His Presence

The Beauty of His Presence by [Evans, J. Shannell]

The Beauty of His Presence by J. Shannell Evans is a forty day-daily devotional for Christians. Each passage includes Bible verses mixed with everyday scenarios to which the reader can relate more closely. After each passage is an open ended set of questions with a writing area that lends itself to daily interpretation and reflection. The book begins with verses and passages about Thanksgiving and Christmas. It delves into Jesus’s birth and death from the start then incorporates the roles of faith, prayer, fellowship, and more within its pages. The author incorporates her personal opinion and experience into the work making it feel more personal and real to the reader.

Evans has curated a nice flow of devotionals. One flows nicely into the next, while at the same time standing alone should someone get off track or skip around. The passages are concise enough that reading one a day would not be a daunting task at all, and many would likely be able to easily read several. They are simply written while still being engaging. The book could easily be used in a group Bible study or Sunday school group. The questions after each section would be good for facilitating group discussion. The daily “Create your own ‘Thought for the Day’” prompt will leave readers with personal food for thought that they can ponder on throughout each day.

I like that the voice of the writer is incorporated. Evans gives accounts of her personal experiences and struggles. This makes the book feel less stuffy and rigid. It makes lofty goals of being a so-called “good Christian” feel attainable. Her personal voice keeps the book light and friendly. It feels more like a conversation than a sermon, and that is comforting. The book keeps a positive, uplifting vibe throughout. The content is heavy at times, but manages to give a hopeful air encouraging a closer walk with God.

I think the substance of the book is on target for its intended audience. Readers will enjoy the relatable stories paired with the daily verses. Evans has put together a great body of work with this book. I feel that it will be a book that will strengthen Christian’s relationships with Christ. It will give hope and positivity to the most downtrodden of readers.
