Scrumptious Tasting Plant-based Food
Posted by Literary Titan

Irresistibly Vegan: Gourmet Dining is a beautifully presented cook book filled with vegan and plant-based recipes that will appeal to a wide variety of cooks. What was the inspiration for this collection of recipes?
Being a vegetarian and vegan chef for over 35 years on three countries, I wanted to share the best plant-based recipes from around the world for vegans and non-vegans alike that are a joy to prepare, beautiful to behold, yummy and nutritious after experiencing the lack of these dishes in most kitchens and definitely in restaurants, cafes and other eateries.
This collection of recipes was inspired from a vision that healthy and scrumptious tasting plant-based food nourishes the body and soul while supporting a more humane lifestyle and sustainable planet.
How did you get started with plant-based cooking and the vegan lifestyle?
While I have been vegetarian for most of my life, I moved to a vegan diet 6 years ago when seeing the way animals were treated in our food chain and it’s significant contribution to climate change, along with the increasing intolerances and allergies to dairy. Then, I started to cook my vegetarian recipes entirely plant-based and created new exciting additions to the repertoire.
If someone is new to vegan cooking, what is the number one recipe in your cookbook that you recommend they start with and why?
As most people are missing out on the delicious flavours and protein packed legumes, I would recommend to make the Lentil-Walnut Mousse and leaf over all other protein recipes in the Appetizers and Main Courses (Pinto Beans with Refrito, Lentil Loaf, Chana Masala, Lentil Balls, Cilantro-Lemon Hummus, Gigante-Bean Bruschetta, Veggie and Bean Chili…).
Then, I will recommend to choose a Main Course to experience the satisfaction of a complete plant-based meal like the Chana Masala Stuffed Yams and finally, you must try a dessert, like the Spiced Apple Cranberry Cake…because life is sweet!!!
Do you have more cookbooks planned? If so, when will they be available?
I am planning to write an Irresistibly Vegan Cookbook on Stews, Soups and Creams. It will be another 2 years as I am busy reaching as many people as possible with this book including cooking classes/events.

Woman Versus Herself
Posted by Literary Titan

Katya follows an artist living an unfulfilled life who gets a chance to experience what an alternate life path could have been and find a way to true happiness. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
This plot came to me as a ‘What if?’ and from there I kept adding on to the intriguing concept by adding characters, settings, and secondary plots. At some point the story takes on a life of its own. This is honestly how all my plots have come to me. A ‘What if?’ enters my head and I nurture it until one day it is a full-blown plot that I simply cannot restrain myself from writing.
Katya experiences an eye-open period of self-discovery in the dream world. What were some driving ideals behind your character’s development?
Katya needed to change her passive-aggressive behavior. She needed to want something badly enough to fight for it, to envision the possibilities she had convinced herself no longer existed. She needed to conceptualize what might have been, and what might still be, so that she could find the courage to fight her complacency.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
The most basic theme of this novel is woman versus herself, which includes self-examination and believing one can accomplish whatever one sets one’s mind to, not settling for mediocrity but instead choosing to change one’s life path when it goes sideways. We can all be inspired by those who have altered their fate through determination and courageous (albeit risky) decision making.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
Finley’s Song is the title of my next novel. It is about a woman who must find a way out of her grief and guilt caused by the unfortunate and untimely demise of her husband. It will take place in Vail, Colorado and Paris, France. I write about places I have lived or traveled, and I enjoy creating characters that invoke my own sympathies. For example, one of the two main voices in the book will be her adolescent son who will suffer greatly from his mother’s psychological and emotional unraveling. It is my hope this novel would be completed and available by fall of 2024.

Think Like A Kind Spider
Posted by Literary Titan

What inspired you to write this informative web marketing book, Be a Spider, Build a Web: Sticky Content Marketing for Small Businesses?
I’ve worked with hundreds of small businesses and wanted to give as many people as possible a low cost, accessible map to help their business.
The book started as a full day training event I still run called “MAP IT” where I take small business owners through a marketing action plan.
Over the course of this I developed the analogy of “think like a kind spider” and it grew from there.
I appreciated the frank nature with which you told your story and shared some of the mistakes you made. What was the hardest thing for you to write about?
I am more used to it now but writing about my own failure especially when it came to growing then shrinking our team was tough.
First – we had to let people go and that still smarts. I still feel sad about that.
Second – there’s always a fear that people will judge you on your failings and I had to push through that to tell the best story – what we found on the other side of that.
What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?
- Trust is the most important marketing weapon
- Really knowing your values changes everything
- You need to build out the right ‘sticky content web’ for you and then trust the process and be patient. ( there is that trust word again!)
What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you were starting out in the business world?
Price right from the start as if you’ll one day hire someone to do the same work. Pricing structure and profitability can make or break your business as you grow.

You’ll learn:
Why you need a trust bridge
How to identify your content anchors
How to narrow your message
How to create a content plan
Why you need different types of content
How to build your own content web
And you’ll experience growth, more sales, and success as you learn and apply the framework to your small business.

Fascinated By The Unseen World
Posted by Literary Titan

Knowing this novel is based on real people and events makes it even more fascinating. What was the idea, or spark, that first set off the need to write Sisters of Castle Leod?
I have always been fascinated by the Unseen World. In fact, in junior high school I wrote my term paper on extrasensory perception. But at this juncture of my life, my thoughts were turning to the problem of faith and where my own spirituality had led me. So I decided to explore the history of spiritualism, and in the process I came across the name of Sibell Mackenzie, Countess of Cromartie, early 20th century spiritualist, and believer in ghosts and reincarnation. That she lived in the iconic Castle Leod definitely tweaked my imagination. After I read about her sister, Lady Constance–swimming champion, big game hunter, and barefoot dancer who was eventually thrown out of King Edward’s court–I was hooked. I wanted to share these bold and quirky women, still largely undiscovered, with the world!
Did you find anything in your research of this story that surprised you?
I was kind of surprised by how much information was out there waiting to be uncovered. Most was in the form of archived newspaper articles. Since both sisters were members of the British nobility, they were frequently written up in the society columns. Later, Sibell became well known as an author of mystical romances, and Constance was always doing something to shock her peers in the aristocracy. So I had plenty of reading to do! There were, of course, a lot of “blanks” to be filled in, but that is the fun of writing historical fiction rather than biography. Each character is like a puzzle to which some of the pieces are missing. How the writer chooses to fill those empty spaces makes all the difference.
Hollywood is knocking, and they want to make your book into a movie. Who do you cast as the leads?
Funny you should ask, because I just learned that SISTERS OF CASTLE LEOD has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Screencraft Cinematic Book Competition. So, I guess it’s never too early to start thinking about casting! At the same time, I admittedly am not very well acquainted with all the new “hot” actors, so I may well overlook an obvious choice. My selection for Sibell, the reserved and serious-minded spiritualist, would be Emma Corrin (from the 2022 film Lady Chatterley’s Lover). I think that Keira Knightley (Anna Karenina) would do a great job as the boldly unconventional Lady Constance.
What is the next book that you are working on and when can your fans expect it to be out?
That’s a question I wish I could answer! I have several ideas in the hopper, but nothing I’m yet ready to announce to the world. I wish I could be one of those authors who flips out books like pancakes. Maybe if I wrote in a genre other than historical fiction, I could do that. Historical fiction requires so much research that the writing process is likely to stretch out longer than that of your average romance novel or thriller. But, after publishing three historical novels, I’m pretty good at sensing when a story is worth writing. The characters must be as compelling for me as I think they’ll be for my readers. That’s one reason I enjoyed writing SISTERS OF CASTLE LEOD: I found both sisters to be uniquely fascinating characters.

“Heartbreaking and redemptive…a thoroughly engrossing story that will have readers quickly turning the pages.” –Megan Chance, bestselling author of A Splendid Ruin
Millions are fans of Diana Gabaldon’s popular Outlander books and television series, but few know that Gabaldon’s fictional Castle Leoch was inspired by a real Scottish castle, Castle Leod. The two sisters who lived there at the turn of the twentieth century were among the most fascinating and talked-about women of their era.
Lady Sibell Mackenzie is a spiritualist, a believer in reincarnation, and a popular author of mystical romances. Petite and proper, she values tradition and duty. Her younger sister Lady Constance, swimming champion and big game hunter, is a statuesque beauty who scandalizes British society with her public displays of Greek-style barefoot dancing. The differences between the sisters escalate into conflict after Sibell inherits their late father’s vast estates and the title 3rd Countess of Cromartie. But it is the birth of Sibell’s daughter that sets in motion a series of bizarre and tragic events, pitting sister against sister and propelling Sibell on a desperate mission to challenge the power of fate.
Sisters of Castle Leod, by award-winning author Elizabeth Hutchison Bernard, is the emotionally charged story of two sisters torn apart by jealousy and superstition, and the impossible leap of faith that could finally bring them together.

Empower Their Unique Purpose
Posted by Literary Titan

The Unstoppable Artist: Discovering the Artist Inside Yourself is a step-bystep guide to help artists reconnect with their passion for art and create art that speaks to their souls. Why was this an important book for you to write?
I was an art instructor for over 30 years. Students would ask me for specific ways that they thought I could help them, and to the best of my ability, I did. After a while, it became apparent to me that what many of them were really asking for, was to achieve the feeling inside that they really were an artist, not an imposter.
After looking at other art instruction books, I felt that the artist could be better served by empowering inspiration and motivation before expecting the student to spend the time required for skill development.
My message is holistic and/or alchemical because achieving a high level of personal creativity is the result of a vision that their life is a weaving of many elements which combined contain the potentiality to empower their unique purpose.
What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?
I really believe that a fresh start with a new direction is possible for any artist who feels that they have reached their peak or have become frustrated with trying and failing to achieve a perceived success.
I am passionate about inspiring beginning artists to see themselves as potential super-heroes, using their talents to change the world.
I hope to encourage artists to explore the variety of ways which their myriad of talents can be combined, so that they can have alternate streams of income.
Fears and anxiety are normal for all people, but for the artist who has such potential beyond themselves, it is critically important to recognize that their creative blocks can be looked at honestly and then released.
I hope to encourage multiple skillset exploration because just like the inside matrix, artistic development benefits from thinking alchemically.
What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you were younger?
That even if I didn’t go to college, I could still be an equally valuable and valid artist. I was handicapped by a messaging of traditional educational hierarchy, which was impossible for me to achieve. Even now, I notice and fight my tendency to compare myself less favorably than those artists with higher education and degrees. It’s the old excuses, the “Yah-But’s” that still occasionally make their presence felt, that prevented me from fully developing my artistic self much earlier in life.
What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your book?
I would love to inspire readers to see and feel the depth of their creative potential; to recognize that their unique creative skills woven together with their highest aspirations can become an unstoppable empowering force to affect change in the world.

Little Fears
Posted by Literary Titan

The Scary Snakes follows a young girl who is afraid of snakes and it is preventing her from enjoying time with her family in nature, she needs to find a way to overcome her fears so she can enjoy the outdoors again. What was the inspiration for your story?
I could call myself a fear freak. I am very interested in people’s fears, especially how to get rid of them or at least control them. To approach children gently, I have collected my experiences into stories – hopefully for joy and help in parenting, too.
As the eldest sibling in my childhood family and later as a mother of three children, I have faced many scary situations for the little ones. My role has often been to help others. Based on these observations and experience, I have developed methods of operation and little tricks that can be helpful also to others.
The things that are the object of fear are very different. When, as a writer, I started compiling a list of scary things or situations, I quickly got about a dozen topics for various books. Among the first three stories I wrote was also “The Scary Snakes.”
I have always enjoyed being out in the wild. Even as a child, I wandered alone in the fields, forests, and lakes. Nature was full of animals – including snakes and insects – but I was never afraid. All I felt was interest and curiosity. Of course, the little explorer had to know how to watch out for real dangers!
On the edge of my home village lived a taxi driver whose yard was full of poisonous snakes. He used to hang the ones he killed on a tree to scare other snakes away. The thought was quite terrifying for us children!
I have noticed that the fear of snakes is common and sometimes grows disproportionate in both children and adults. A calm and understanding person can help by listening and bringing a sense of security – just like Granny in this fairy tale can!
What was something you feared as a child and how did you overcome that fear?
I have always had a very vivid imagination. As a child, I used to read a lot of adventure stories, also exciting ones. Depending on the age, I felt a little afraid when reading” The Famous Five Series” or the adventures of Tarzan in the jungle. And the fairy tales of” One Thousand and One Nights” weren’t very tame either, with their bandits and monsters.
However, the fears of the imaginary world were quite encouraging because the heroes of the stories always survived in the end. And the exciting topics and anxieties created by my imagination, I made disappear when I wanted or came up with a suitable solution.
From my childhood fears, I could name two very different ones: thunder and war.
Thunder sometimes made me move the mattress to my parents’ bedroom floor. Knowing that our home had a lightning rod helped a little – even though I knew the same house had been struck by lightning years ago. Thunder is still scary, but I’ve learned to tolerate it as an adult. Various operating instructions give a sense of control and increase safety. Sometimes, when I feel I’m in a safe place, I can enjoy this incredible spectacle of nature!
WAR. I write it in capital letters as the importance of this sad subject has increased again.
As a child, I lived in a district inhabited by many migrants from Karelia because of the war between Finland and our eastern neighbor, then named the Soviet Union. I listened to the challenging experiences of these people. Even then, I felt deep in my heart the despair of those who had left their homes and tried to settle in new conditions with strangers. My grandfather and several other men in the family had been soldiers. Some of them returned home alive, some dead. Adults’ stories about wartime seemed to be frighteningly close at the time. My fear grew as I watched the Cold War news and their grim maps on television.
All these heavy memories about wartime are passed down from generation to generation. The fear of war has been present in my life all along. I haven’t come up with anything else to deal with it other than trying to build PEACE across all kinds of borders with the children’s books I keep on writing.
My stories “Lullaby of the Valley” and “Raspberry Red” talk about the consequences of war and its impact on people’s lives. “Between the Walls” is a book about diplomacy on the no-mans-land, and soon to be published, “Mother’s Bread Dough is a refugee story of a mother and son.
War is history for some of us; for others, it is the reality today. I hope my books will encourage and comfort people in all these situations.
How does it feel when you have completed writing a book and are ready to send to your publisher?
Since I work in our family company, I’m involved in book publishing projects from beginning to end. In some stages, my role is more extensive; in others, I just follow the progress from a distance.
When the manuscript is ready, it often feels like I have been away, traveling in another reality. From there, I have to return to everyday life and take a different perspective on the text. Since I also choose illustrators for my books, the work continues to be compact and busy but completely different. Finding an artist suitable for bringing the story to life is fascinating. Personality is also essential for smooth cooperation. It is a significant advantage for the process if all involved have genuine enthusiasm and vision for the result. I try to build trust with my illustrators, who are professionals in their field. They enjoy being free enough in their work – and I have my expertise to complement the process.
As much as I try to be patient, waiting for a finished book sometimes feels hard. Especially those stories that are exceptionally important and topical burn my mind. Right now, I’m looking forward to completing my book “Mother’s Bread Dough.” It is in the layout process, and the interplay between the illustrations by Stefan Turk and the story works well. This gentle and warm wartime story is so much needed today!
Do you have more “Little Fears” books planned?
While presenting my existing eight “Little Fears” books at fairs or otherwise talking about them with people, I’ve noticed remarkable things happen.
People often return in their minds to childhood and are touched by the topics of the books. For many, even painful things come to mind, and they may say: “I wish I had this book then.”
Some parents confess that they are struggling with the same issues in their own families and ask for my advice to help their situation. I always emphasize that everyone is an expert in their own family, but I can, of course, try to give some kind of peer support from my own experiences. These books are made to offer gentle guidance.
I still have many more subjects for the “Little Fears Series” in mind. I’ve picked some from my conversations with readers, so the demand exists. Adults have a responsibility to help children deal with things that worry and scare them. Writing stories is one of my means of assisting families with children.
By listening to the concerns of the little ones and dealing with them unhurriedly and gently, we find solutions together. The fear shrinks to a manageable size.

A Story About Her Music
Posted by Literary Titan

Ride follows two estranged sisters who are brought back together after the death of their mother and are forced to face the past they tried to leave behind. What was the inspiration for the setup of your story?
The biggest inspiration for this story was the music of Lana Del Rey. I have always been a huge of hers, and I wanted to write a story about her music. She had her sister in her video for Music To Watch Boys to, and I thought about having this sister relationship. They’re complete opposites of each other, and I truly believed that was what was beautiful for the both of them. I wanted them to be able to rely on each other and realize that they have faults the other one considers a strength.
What was your inspiration for the characters and their relationship?
I think a common thing lately in my novels is being able to realize that your actions can influence someone for years to come. Alayna and Morgan’s parents had caused this ripple effect in their own tragic lives that bleed into Alayna and Morgan. I wanted to show how even something so small could be so huge for someone else.
What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?
Cause and Effect was a huge one. Like I said in the characters and their relationships with others. That became a huge driving force in this novel. Plus, I wanted to talk about forgiveness. I wanted you to be able to forgive those who have destroyed you or hurt you.
What is the next book that you’re working on and when can your fans expect it out?
My next novel is Something Scandalous, Treacherous, and Black. It’s a campy, sassy wedding book. It’s going to be out at the end of March.

Sisters, Alayna and Morgan, are reunited through grief. When Morgan returns home to Annapolis, MD after the death of their mother. However, despite the solemn circumstances at play, the two siblings can’t avoid reopening old familial wounds. Both had dreams of fame and fortune, but each one took separate paths.
Alayna, was well on her way towards becoming a famous singer. While Morgan, spurred on by what she felt was rejection at the hands of her mother, moved to Los Angeles to make movies. Only one sister’s career would endure though. As Alayna, supposedly her mother’s favorite, had her dreams unceremoniously undercut by her mom’s vituperative ways. A cycle of abuse she had to suffer alone, when Morgan absconded to Hollywood.
Alayna feels her sister abandoned her. And even as her husband Noah routinely pushes for her to renew her musical aspirations, Alayna also doesn’t want to dash her father’s hopes for grandchildren; and starting a family. Despite the latter abandoning her, and her sister when they were just teens. Meantime, after venturing out into the world and making a name for herself. Morgan, upon returning home, struggles with the omnipresent hole in her heart over her father’s departure years ago.
A sense of loss, compounded by having lost two separate lovers to drugs, and suicide back in LA. Additionally, Morgan also clashes with her sister over having never left town. A choice Morgan feels resulted in her becoming coddled, and inhibited her personal growth. Can these two sister’s put both their past, and present pain behind them, in order to pave the way for their future as a family?
