I Could Never Have a Christmas Tree
Posted by Literary Titan

BUTTERBALL’S Christmas Surprise follows a young poodle as she prepares for Christmas, gets into mischief, but does her best to ensure Santa’s visit. What inspired the Christmas theme in book three of your series?
My previous miniature poodle was notorious for wanting to play with my Christmas trees. She was fascinated with the decorations. Consequently I could never have a Christmas tree or could only have one high up where she couldn’t reach.
What was a lesson that was important for you to include in this book?
It is important to show genuine remorse when one does something wrong. It is also important for positive behaviour to be rewarded.
I appreciated the questions at the end that provided an opportunity for reading comprehension. How do you see this fitting into a teaching curriculum?
The questions are designed to test the ability of young readers to understand and retain details in the book. I think this is a good exercise in reading comprehension.
What plans do you have for Butterball the Poodle book 4?
Currently I have no plans for Butterball the Poodle Book 4 BUT I might change my mind at a later date. I have started a new series which will be on sale very soon – A Poodle called Pippin Book 1 “Pippin’s Country Adventure”.

Critically Endangered
Posted by Literary Titan

A Letter from a Gorilla explains the man-made dangers that gorillas face and tells readers, in a cute rhyming story, what can be done about it. Why was this an important story for you to tell?
Gorillas are the closest living relatives to humans after chimpanzees and bonobos and are among the most endangered apes in the world. Both the Eastern and Western Gorillas are critically endangered, despite having a population as high as 200,000 individuals. Human activities cause the main threats to their survival, such as poaching, habitat destruction, and disease. By educating future generations, we can help ensure the survival of these gentle creatures that are so similar to us.
What is one simple thing that people can do that will help gorillas?
Donating to conservation organizations that protect mountain gorillas is probably the most effective way to help the species. Even if we cannot help financially, we can all become more mindful of our impact on the environment and adjust our habits.
If someone wanted to take action and help gorillas in a big way, what should they do?
Some people, such as Dian Fossey, have dedicated their lives to the welfare of gorillas and paid the ultimate price. However, we can all make our voices heard to lawmakers and government officials to support conservation efforts.
What is one thing you hope readers take away from your book?
We can all make a difference in the survival of gorillas and other endangered species by educating ourselves and our children and by taking positive action to protect the environment.

A Passion Of Mine
Posted by Literary Titan

Becoming a CFI provides readers with practical guidance that will help them be a better flight instructor. Why was this an important book for you to write?
I started writing this book in 2007 when I realized as an already experienced flight instructor that many, if not most, flight instructors don’t know the basics of education. Teaching is not about the knowledge that you have but about the ability to pass it along to someone else. And pass it along in a way that another person will understand and be motivated to acquire more knowledge on that subject. Education was and is a passion of mine for my entire life. It also runs in my family. Both of my parents were academic teachers; my grandparents were teachers. My great grandfather was a teacher.
What is a common misconception you feel people have about flight instructors?
The problem is that our system of developing young professional pilots forces them to do something many of them are not interested in doing—being instructors. To accomplish their ambitions to be an airline pilot, they have to “survive” until their “time-building punishment” is over. Most CFI candidates think that teaching is easy, and it is the way for them to quickly build hours in the air. In reality, it is an exceedingly complex and challenging task. The flight instructor position is probably the most essential certificate in aviation. Your action in the form of your signature in the student’s logbook stating that someone is ready to fly solo is literally a life and death decision that you must make. It is a huge responsibility, and not everyone is prepared for it.
What were some ideas that were important for you to explore in this book?
My overall theme, if you will, is that short-term fixes may alleviate short-term symptoms. Only long-term solutions based on an assessment of the big picture make any sense. It is up to us to guide, mentor, and demand a higher standard. This book aims to show the way for anybody who wants or “needs” to be a flight instructor the path which can be beneficial for their students and make them, flight instructors, successful. Doing the right thing is not only going to give the instructor “moral satisfaction,” If you will, but also has some tangible benefits. If your students like you, then your flight school will like you. There is no better benefit than a long list of positive referrals in your resume or when you are a well-known flight instructor in the industry when you apply for that airline job.
What is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you before you became a flight instructor?
I wanted to be a pilot since I was a child. I was able to start realizing this dream in my thirties. I always knew exactly what I want to do in life, but it was in a sphere of dreams. I always liked teaching, and I wanted to be a pilot. I concluded to connect those two passions late in my life. I could have done it a lot sooner. I wish someone would tell me it is doable when I was twenty. Most people think the aviation profession is something that is out of reach. It may seem that way, but it is more achievable and reachable than we realize. So, yes, I wish someone would give me that piece of advice by telling me it is possible much sooner.

Fostering Energy: Cherish Your Energy for a Pleasant Spirit
Posted by Literary Titan
Kyle Pleasant LMT wants you to take control of your surroundings. He wants you as a reader to be in charge of your life and anything that you invite into your space. In his book Fostering Energy: Cherish Your Energy for a Pleasant Spirit, author Kyle Pleasant writes about the different energies around us and how we can convert negative energies into positive energies. The author uses real life experiences and situations that he has gone through to demonstrate that there is more to life than just existing and going about your usual routines. This book is like a life manual that is full of positive affirmations and lessons that will help readers navigate life in a more constructive and positive way. Kyle Pleasant LMT uses friendly language and pertinent examples that readers can easily comprehend.
I found every chapter in Fostering Energy: Cherish Your Energy for a Pleasant Spirit to be useful. The book is divided into three sections and ten chapters, Each section focuses on a main topic while chapters consist of sub topics. The first section is about discovering one’s value. I found this section to be crucial. In the section, we learn about boosting our self esteem and being proud of what we have achieved. Section two of the book was on cherishing your energy. I loved the chapters under this section because of the numerous lessons they had. My favorite take from this section was being mindful of what we say and how we think as whatever we confess, we profess.
Kyle Pleasant knows the right words to use and will emphasize a subject when he feels it is too important to only be read once. I enjoyed tales about his experiences and the lessons he learned. Through his life, I learned why it is important to take it one step at a time. This book has the power to make you forget about your bad experiences and focus on what brings you peace. Through the book, we learn that we project whatever feeling we are going through, whether knowingly or unknowingly. This book gives readers the tools they need to control their issues.
The last chapters are among the most important chapters for anyone that is conscious about their health. The author writes about mental health, physical health, emotional health, spiritual health and being of service in the last section.
Fostering Energy: Cherish Your Energy for a Pleasant Spirit has the potential to make you a wholesome individual; physically, spiritually, and also help you balance energies in your life.

Opening Doors for Many Children
Posted by Literary Titan

Be Proud to Be Blue follows a baby bird that is rejected because of his color and finds his own self-confidence to make friends anyway. Why is this an important lesson for kids to learn early?
We should teach children from an early age to be proud of who they are. A positive sense of self is one of the greatest gifts we can give a child. Talking to children from an early age is important if we are to prepare them mentally for the future.
The illustrations of the frogs and goldfish in this book are my favorite. What is your favorite image or scene from the book?
I really like the scene where Baby bird makes friends with the frogs. They really seem to be having such fun together.
This book was written to be dyslexic inclusive. Why was this an important aspect of the book for you to include?
As an Early Years teacher, I think it is important to help children with dyslexia in every way possible to encourage a love of reading and build their confidence. By producing books with a font that makes the text easier to read, we are opening doors for many children.
Do you have future books planned with baby bird in them?
The first book, “Be Happy to Be You,” encourages children to be happy with their own strengths and individual rather than trying to be like everyone else. I have written a third story about the difficulties Baby bird has building a nest. His mother encourages but does not build the nest for him. The story teaches children about independence and perseverance.

Baby bird wasn’t happy.
He wanted to play with the fish and the horses and the frogs.
But they won’t play with him…
Because he is blue!

A Unicorn From Ancient China
Posted by Literary Titan

A Unicorn Named Rin follows a Chinese unicorn on a mission to find the missing royal Phoenix before the Friendship Concert. What inspired you to write this beautiful children’s book?
We’re a family that loves unicorns but I couldn’t find a unicorn book that featured a protagonist which looked like my daughters. After conducting some research, I discovered unicorns were a part of Chinese history, and even Confucius himself wrote about them. Thus I set out to write an early readers book about a unicorn from ancient China, along with a Tang dynasty princess.
The art in this book is well drawn and vibrant. What was the art collaboration process like with illustrator Li (Lily) Liu?
Lily lives in France and I’m in the US, so we had numerous video chatting sessions to discuss the illustrations. We both have children so at times our virtual meetings were very chaotic from hilarious kid-related disruptions! I’m just in awe of Lily’s talent. She really brought every page to life! She is originally from China, and I had lived in Shanghai for years, so this book was a very meaningful project for the both of us.
What were some aspects of Chinese culture that were important for you to include in this book?
I’m a big fan of ancient Chinese poetry, so there some Tang dynasty poems included in the book. And although this is a fantastical story with mythical creatures, the geographical locations are real.
Will you write more children’s book of this type in the future?
Yes, my second children’s book will be released next year.
