Mommy, Daddy Please Teach Me!

Mommy, Daddy Please Teach Me! (What I Tell Myself) by [Michael A Brown, Michelle Mathews, Zoe Ranucci]

Mommy, Daddy Please Teach Me!, by Michael A. Brown, is an educational children’s story about appreciating what our parents have done for us. Through this book readers will learn to value the things their parents have taught them by exploring various real life examples such as learning to dress themselves and learning to love themselves. The story portrays diverse families in many different situations that children find themselves in on an average day. The author then uses this base to show some simple, but effective, examples of the numerous ways that parents help their children learn and grow.

It’s important to appreciate the things our parents have taught us. They have taught us a lot of things that have helped us become the people that we are today. Our parents have always been there to guide us through life and it is important to think about what we have learned from them. Michael A. Brown inspires this kind of thought and understanding in his exceptional picture book.

Along with the multiple examples given that show how parents educate children, this cute book also helps remind kids to cherish the lessons their parents give them. If the reader were to discover something in the story that they didn’t know about, such as the concept of money, then they’d have something new to discuss with their parents.

Mommy, Daddy Please Teach Me! is yet another brilliant book by Michael A. Brown that uses beautiful illustrations to capture children’s attention and then inserts a lesson while looking over all the beautiful imagery.

My Personal Journey

Margit Gabriele Dr Muller
Margit Gabriele Dr Muller Author Interview

Your Pet, Your Pill provides a hundred stories that show how our pets help us live happier and healthier lives. What inspired you to write this book?

My pets have always been rays of sunshine and hope who understood me and helped me to carry on as strong pillars of my life. I’ve also been able to overcome many seemingly insurmountable obstacles in my private and professional life through the unwavering support and unconditional love of my pets. Based on that I wanted to inspire other people to understand the incredible positive impact our pets have on our lives. But it is not just about what we think our pets can help us in our lives as everything in Your Pet, Your Pill is based on science and research. My intention was to remove any doubts of personal bias among my readership about those incredible values. For that reason I have researched hundreds of scientific articles and information to create a strong foundation for my stories as thought-provoking support. The combination of a wide variety of profound research in easily digestible way with amazing stories makes Your Pet, Your Pill so unique. My wish is that my book is a motivating and inspiring testimony that our pets can indeed enrich our lives beyond imagination and help people of all walks of life.

You are a doctor of Veterinary Medicine with more than 25 years of experience in the field. How has your experience helped you write this book?

Being an doctor of Veterinary Medicine with such a long and divers experience with lots of different animals and pet owners, this experience has opened for me a completely different way of thinking and looking at our beloved pets. My personal journey with my own pets from early childhood onwards was complimented by those beautiful stories among my relatives, friends, acquaintances and patients. This has helped me to gain a much deeper and broader understanding and reflection what our pets can do for us in so many different ways for HSH – Health, Success and Happiness. Due to my professional background as veterinarian and life coach I have witnessed firsthand the multiple blessings our pets can bring to us to heal ourselves, not just physically but also our minds and our souls.

Pet improve us in many ways. Some are obvious, like improving our mood, but other surprised me, like detecting cancer. Was there anything that surprised you when doing research for this book?

I knew a lot of things that pets can do for us to help and heal us but what completely surprised me was their tremendously positive impact on our personal and professional lives. Pets help to shape and improve our character traits to a huge extent that enables us to build strong positive relationships with other people and to advance in our personal and professional lives. They even support us in developing skills and abilities that we require for our professional success. Those findings were very amazing as it goes far beyond our common understanding of how pets can improve our lives.

What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?

I have just published Your Pet, Your Pill’s accompanying companion book Your Pet, Your Pill® Workbook. A Self-Discovery Guide About How Pets Lead You to a Happy, Healthy and Successful Life. This book is a real self-discovery workbook with a lot of exercises and activities. It shall provide a guide to deeper reflection and insight for my readers who might be in a difficult time of their lives and need a structured way to dive into their feelings, hearts and souls. I am also working on the next book as part of my Your Pet, Your Pill series and hope to finish it be end of the next year. There is still so much to be said about our wonderful pets and animals that can motivate and inspire my readers. I would also like to encourage my readers to share their personal stories with me for my next book and to become a part of the Your Pet, Your Pill community because I am looking to let people learn from other people’s experience in different aspects.

Choose Your Stories, Change Your Life

John Sautelle’s Choose Your Stories, Change Your Life is a book that will help you reflect on your life, the decisions you make, and the path you take. The author writes about basic things that people indulge in daily. As he discusses the various topics, the author created characters and gave them traits that defined their personalities to help the reader understand human behavior. I enjoyed reading about the characters and had a few that I considered favorites at the end of the reading. John Sautelle’s characters appear real in every sense and even had me compare some of them to characters I know in real life.

John Sautelle’s narrates the stories engagingly, making the reader feel like part of the discussion. The conversations among characters are interesting and feel authentic. Looking at the characters, one gets to understand why people around us tend to behave the way they do. Some people are easy to talk with while others have some unique traits that need a little understanding. On working with difficult people, the reader learns that the only way that you can make one change or improve their behavior is by tenderly communicating. There are different ways of communication and the channel one uses can determine the outcome of a conversation.

The reader also gets informed about being responsible for whatever they do. Making plans is one thing but fulfilling them is a different story. Many people get to write down their goals, but how many actually achieve their set targets? The author helps you understand why you do not see through the annual resolutions you make, and how you can change that. As an adult, the author reminds us that to be successful you have to be committed. Fate may have something in store for you but be the one to choose your dreams.

Choose Your Stories, Change Your Life is an invigorating self-help book that will help you on your self-improvement journey. Through the characters George, Lili, Jan, and Stefan, the reader gets to experience real challenges that people face. I appreciate the author’s characters selection as each of them was unique. Some characters teach one about patience, others about having a forgiving heart, while others make one feel confident with themselves. You need to take your time when reading this book as the author has several vital teachings that can help you navigate the challenges you face in life. The book makes you understand that life is a process and you need to take one step at a time.

Weirdo 2.0

Reading Christopher Wheat’s Weirdo 2.0 will make you understand how different everyone is. The author uses his condition and real-life stories to tell of his experiences as a teacher and tutor living with Asperger’s Syndrome, a condition that is now shoved under the autism umbrella. The reader gets educated on the condition and autism at large. Reading this book made me aware of how autistic people live. Christopher Wheat writes in a calm and gentle tone. You can read his sensations through the text he pens in the book. I appreciate the author for talking about some encounters that not many people would be comfortable talking about.

Stories from the classroom and in the school were intriguing to read. As a person living with a condition that is related to autism, Christopher Wheat’s experiences were a little different from others. I was not pleased reading about the bullying and mild disrespect shown by some. The author is a strong individual for penning some of his most painful experiences as such things would easily break anyone with a fragile heart. I empathized with him on many occasions but also applauded him for remaining firm and standing up for himself.

Not many people understand the world of people living with autism and related conditions. From the book, I learned that there is no better virtue than kindness. Be kind to everyone, and not just the people you know or interact with. Christopher Wheat is an excellent writer. His style of narration and way of introducing new stories is one of the best things about the author. He takes his time when explaining situations and one can tell that he is happy writing his stories. The memoir is an amazing read for people who want some encouragement and inspiration as they face day to day challenges at work. Christopher Wheat’s story is moving and motivating.

Weirdo 2.0 evokes strong emotions. Reading about the harsh boss almost brought tears to my eyes. I appreciate the author for the lessons in the book. Once you are done with this book you get to realize how ungracious the world we live in can be and why some people choose to quit without saying a word. The author however urges all to speak up no matter the situation they are in. Apart from the touching stories, I enjoyed reading about Christopher Wheat’s happy days. One can draw powerful lessons in both his professional and personal life. I recommend this book to readers that enjoy thoughtful autobiographies and uplifting real-life stories.

Lance Vance Picks a Topic

Lance Vance Picks a Topic (Lance Vance the Science Champ Book 1) by [Emmie Miller]

Lance Vance Picks a Topic, starts with introducing us to our 9 year old, smart, cocky and impulsive protagonist Lance and then proceeds to follow his journey from the time he receives his Science Fair assignment to the day of the Science Fair. This charming children’s book follows his adventure, impulsiveness and knack for creating something new and is bound to inspire young readers.

Children are often afraid of science as a subject and science fairs can be a real cause of anxiety in not only them but their parents too. But through Lance’s story, the author successfully breaks down the steps of the Scientific Method and makes it easy and simple for children to grasp. It aims at imbibing and instilling scientific flair in children from a very young age. After all science is the most exciting subject, if we just introduce kids to it right! Lance’s hilarious yet thrilling experiments does exactly that. It instigates creative thinking in young readers. The storyline is compelling and keeps readers engaged. Lance is bound to fascinate them. The writing is lucid and that helps in easy comprehension of not only the plot but the insights as well. The illustrations are really adorable and will hold their attention.

I recommend this book to all young readers so that they get to enjoy science in its all glory and don’t associate fear with it. It is an interesting subject and science fairs allows them to create fun projects. I’m really looking forward to more of Lance’s adventure.

An Incredible Journey

An incredible journey: From a mud hut to Cambridge (HEARING OTHERS’ VOICES Book 21) by [John L Shabaya]

John L. Shabaya has led an amazing life full of both challenges and triumphs. Born in Kenya and raised in a culture that offered him little chance to hope for a college education, Shabaya was able to overcome virtually every obstacle placed in his path and achieve the dream many never reach. His story is one that makes readers think deeply about the injustices faced by young people in cultures outside of their own. He brings to light prejudices in educational systems the world over, and he gives young people hope as they strive to create their own futures in a world full of challenges.

An Incredible Journey: From Mud Hut to Cambridge, an autobiography by John L. Shabaya, details the fascinating success of the author and follows his life from his birth in Kenya to his life as a college-educated pastor, world traveler, founder of a school, and educator in his own right. Shabaya’s story is an amazing testament to the benefit of an education and what sheer determination and hard work can do. After reading Shabaya’s truly incredible life story, I have been brought back down to earth about many of the problems I think I have. Everyone needs to read a story like Shabaya’s once in a while to be truly humbled.

As a teacher, I was moved to tears reading of the author’s experiences in elementary school. It is reprehensible to imagine the treatment he and countless others endured at the hands of so-called educators. It’s a thousand wonders any child makes it out of a school like that with their wits intact. His ability to express his pain is unmatched and his writing eloquent. Readers can only imagine the pain endured by Shabaya, but his writing now provides readers everywhere with a clear picture of the true story that played out (and continues to do so) in schools everywhere. Children all over the globe are fighting battles most of us will never realize, and Shabaya sheds light on the horror while at the same time showing us the light at the end of the tunnel.

Autobiographies are always fascinating reads, but Shabaya’s story is somehow different. There is a lesson to be learned about determination and self-respect in Shabaya’s life story. I think we can always learn something from others, and John L. Shabaya gives readers the perfect opportunity to learn from his successes, his trials, and his steadfastness. I highly recommend Shabaya’s book to anyone who enjoys autobiographies, but especially to educators.
