Barclay & Berk Builders – Book Trailer
Posted by Literary Titan
Award-winning children’s author Beverley Rayner and artist illustrator James Hensman have teamed together to produce a cleverly-told and colorfully-illustrated children’s adaption of the well-known parable of the wise and foolish builders. Based on Jesus’ parable in Matthew, chapter seven the book teaches with a narrative that will appeal to a young audience ages five-eight, without diminishing the integrity and intent of Jesus’ words.

Oscar the Osprey: The Bird Who Was Afraid of Heights
Posted by Literary Titan

Oscar the Osprey follows a year in the life of a newly hatched osprey. This wonderful children’s book takes readers through a full year of life following a young bird named Oscar, with each chapter taking up a season. Oscar is different, and other birds make fun of him for it, but he learns to adapt to his impairment and survives the winter in his own unique way.
This is a wonderfully educational book that will teach young readers many things about ospreys. This is an inspiring coming of age tale that I really enjoyed because Oscar was left to overcome his inequities on his own. This conveys a fantastic lesson on self-reliance that is not often taught in children’s books. Readers will learn many things about birds, and all the educational elements are delivered within a heartfelt story that follows Oscar’s journey. Readers will immediately connect with Oscar, not only because he’s the underdog, but because of his amazing outlook on life and his amiable personality. The illustrations were all black and white sketch art that was very fitting for the story and simply charming.
Author Edward Martin Polansky has written a children’s book that reminds me of classic children’s literature stories. This thoughtful and inspiring tale educates as well as it entertains and will surely delight young readers. This is perfect for readers moving on to chapter books, or a great story to read to your child at bed time.

Making Passwords Secure
Posted by Literary Titan
In this age of the internet, everyone wants to have their data secure. Being an internet user exposes you to a lot of things which includes easy information and sometimes threats to your data. Technology has become a basic part of living and that is why you will not be surprised to find people with more than one technology device. Both companies and individual internet users value privacy and safety of data while enjoying the benefits of technology. Making Passwords Secure by author Dovell Bonnett extensively writes about the pros and cons of technology, owning data, securing your passwords and much more. This book is a great guide for people that are curious about data privacy, cyber security and internet usage.
There are many things that made me enjoy reading Dovell Bonnett’s book. It is how he simplifies terms when writing. The author writes in basic terms to the understanding of the average computer user. He breaks down technical terms but does not use heavy jargon that can be confusing. Author Dovell Bonnett’s knowledge is extensive when it comes to information security. Dovell Bonnett writes like an expert and bases his findings on research and facts. As a reader, you get the impression of being I.T. savvy just by reading a few pages. It takes an expert skill with both the subject matter and writing to dive deep into a subject without any jargon to ensure readers feel informed without feeling overwhelmed.
With this book, readers will be able to improve their I.T. systems at work, run their business safer, and be more secure online. This book is perfect for working professional, but because of the simple language and actionable advice even average consumers will be able to derive benefit from this book. Some of the most crucial topics in the book for me touched on networking, password notification and management, and data security among others.
Making Passwords Secure is a critical tool for I.T. and business professionals. This is an enlightening book that will help readers create and use more secure passwords.

From Home to Day-Care
Posted by Literary Titan

Mummy Don’t Go helps children deal with their separation anxiety through a fun and educational story. What was the inspiration for the setup to your story?
I have been an Early Childhood Teacher for nearly 15 years, and I have seen so many children go through this stage. Separation anxiety can be very challenging for the child, parent as well as the teachers. I understand how vulnerable these children feel, coming into a place where they don’t know anyone. They go through all sorts of emotions; fear of being left behind, desperation, vulnerability.
It takes some time to bond with these children to help them feel safe, comfortable, and connected with the day-care environment. Reading a story to a child when they are upset has always been my favourite way to connect with a child. It allows me to initiate conversations and engage children in those conversations.
This is where the inspiration for this book came from. I wanted to be able to read a book to a child, where the character was of the same age, in the same situation and going through the same emotions. I wanted to be able to use this book to demonstrate that day-care is not a scary place, but a place filled with lots of interesting things to do, a place to form friendships and try new things. And that it is a place where they will be well taken care of and loved.
I also wanted the parents to be able to share the same message with their children at home. You know, read this book as a great bedtime story where they could talk about day-care in preparation and anticipation for the next day-care day. I wanted to give them away to build a bridge from home to day-care.
What is the hardest thing children face when going to daycare for the first time and how can parents help overcome it?
The hardest thing children face is the fear of not knowing anyone, the unfamiliar environment and not really knowing what to expect next.
It helps not just the child but the parents and teachers as well when there is a bit of preparation ahead of the first day. When children know what to expect, whom they can go to for help, what their routine will be like, it helps them feel a bit more confident.
It helps when parents are organised and know how to handle their child’s anxiety. I also wrote “Defeat Day-care Drop off Dramas with 3 New Habits” especially for parents with tips and strategies on how they can support their child with separation anxiety. When “Defeat Day-care Drop off Dramas with 3 New Habits” is used in conjunction with “Mummy Don’t Go!” It can be a powerful tool in understanding the root of this anxiety and how to overcome them using simple and practical steps.
What were some ideas that were important for you to share in this book?
It was important for me to share that children are little human beings with emotions and feelings. We need to help them not only express these feelings but also acknowledge what they are feeling. It is super important to help children feel safe, and parents and teachers can absolutely help children feel that by having a good communication system.
I think that Early Childhood educators play a vital role in a child’s learning, development, and wellbeing and so it was important for me to share the value of their work, how they go far and beyond for each child in their care and how it all makes a huge difference in a child’s wellbeing.
What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?
I am now working on another children’s book based on why a routine for children is important for their self-regulation. This book will again be set in a day-care environment with the same characters, Lucy, and Todd the frog. I am hoping to have this book published by early next year.

Mummy Don’t Go!!: Separation Anxiety
Posted by Literary Titan
Mummy Don’t Go follows young Lucy as she heads off to face her first day at daycare. She is worried about being separated from her mother, but she learns that, although she will miss her mother, she will find the comfort and support she needs to get through the day in her teacher.
Author Ashika Singh has given parents a fantastic tool to ease the anxiety many children feel when being separated from their parent for the first time. This wonderful children’s book shows readers the different things they will face at daycare and shows them that it is not scary and that they can rely on their teacher to support them.
The book is filled with amiable and emotive illustrations that helps young readers identify what Lucy is feeling in different moments. Throughout the story children will certainly enjoy seeing Lucy’s pet frog in various funny situations. Todd the frog really helps lighten the mood of the book and ensure humor is inserted into every situation.
This is a fun and educational picture book that teaches kids a valuable lesson that will make separating from their parents easier when it comes time to head off to daycare or kindergarten. Mummy Don’t Go!!: Separation Anxiety is a valuable tool for parents and is an entertaining story to share with children.

Red Dove: Tell Truth to Darkness
Posted by Literary Titan
Red Dove – Tell Truth to Darkness is a fantastic children’s novel written by Sonia Antaki for youth ages 10-14, that explores a re-imagined history of the Lakota people in 1891. Red Dove is a young protagonist who joins Buffalo Bill’s European Wild West Tour. Ecstatic by the opportunity to ride with the warriors, Red Dove leaves everything behind; including her white life, the cruel Sister Agatha and the wretched school that tried to force the Native out of her. Guided by her grandfather’s medicine pouch and sacred teachings, Red Dove knows what others think and feel.
This is a well-written book, and the characters were lively and relatable. The protagonist, Red Dove, has a fiery spirit but is also very reflective and thoughtful; her journey to find her truth is relatable to all audiences. Pairing this coming-of-age story with important and well known historical figures of the time, like Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley, makes the story recognizable but with a unique twist. I liked that the author did not gloss over the harsh realities of colonization and the harmful effects of residential schools. Red Dove and Windflower are abused at the school by Sister Agatha; who beats them, cuts their hair and refuses to let them speak their own language. Further, Sister Agatha believes Red Dove to be a witch for using traditional medicines. While the author is not Indigenous, there are notes and acknowledgments at the front that indicate the author has consulted the Lakota tribe for accurate information and research to represent their people through this piece of historical fiction.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I believe it would be most suitable for schools to help further learning of past and present Indigenous issues. Even as an adult, I enjoyed and would recommend this book! I look forward to the next installment of this series. Red Dove: Tell Truth to Darkness is a fun and educational children’s book that provides readers with a glimpse at history in an entertaining way.
