Darke Realms: The In-Between: (Arcana 1)

My name is Rue Mohanahan. I’ve always known I was different, but I didn’t know to what degree of different I was until the day that monster attacked me all those years ago.

I escaped with my life . . . barely. For fifteen years the Dark one has pursued me. I’ve evaded him all this time by never settling down . . . until now.

All those years on the run, I was always alone. Now I’m surrounded by the paranormal – wolves, witches, and monsters that dwell deep in the dark.

I’ve met my alpha wolf mate, Michael, and it’s hard to get close. I still live with the things the Dark one did to me.

How can I open myself up to the possibility of a never-ending love and a happily ever after when I can see the Dark coming? It’s hard to imagine finally living my life when I was born to fight a war I might not survive. The universe has a cruel sense of humor that I’ve never appreciated, especially now that I stand to lose everything I’ve ever wanted or will ever love.

HAMLET IN BALTIMORE

Hamlet in Baltimore by Pavel Cerny is a rather ambitious attempt to combine the author’s two passions – horror stories and theater and place it into one fascinating short story. Although purely made up, Cerny manages to present a rather interesting tale on vampires and the parents of Edgar Allan Poe. The five-year-old Poe must deal with the death of his parents at the hands of vampires. This imaginative take on the life of Poe will give readers plenty to think about in this quick read.

Readers will appreciate that the book starts with a disclaimer informing them that the real Mrs. Poe had died 3 years before the events described in this book. I am impressed with the fact that Cerny took a real person and placed her into his fictional narrative and created a shocking and thrilling story. I wonder if Cerny had left the Poe family out of his narrative and created a fictional family of young actors instead if the story would have the same impact especially on those who are fans of Edgar Allan Poe.

Cerny has created a fresh new plot that is mysterious and chilling. The images help the reader feel like they are watching a play. Readers will be impressed with how flawlessly Cerny manages to incorporate several storylines into one well-conceived short story. This is extremely hard considering the short length of the piece thus showcasing the author’s amazing skills. Complementing this imaginative short story are the brilliant illustrations of Manuel Vitman. His work is truly astounding and gives this remarkable story an added edge, complimenting the storyline and giving readers a memorable visual.

Hamlet in Baltimore is a riveting short story that will grip readers from start to finish. This superb telling of Edgar Allan Poe’s early life will fascinate readers of horror, fiction, short stories, suspense, and fantasy.

Taylor Mill Horror

Sam, his wife Jody, and daughter Charlie move to a small town in Kentucky for a fresh start. Sam is inexplicably drawn to a particular house, and when the owner catches him gazing at it, she sells it to him for a knock-down price. She was delighted to find someone willing to buy it. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a terrible purchase for Sam and his family, as they find out more or less as soon as they move in. With help from a priest and some paranormal investigators, including the author, it takes all of Sam’s mental and physical strength to face the evil that possesses his family’s new home.

Taylor Mill Horror by Austin Lawrence is a classic horror tale in the style of the infamous The Amityville Horror. Like that renowned book, Taylor Mill Horror is full of frightening supernatural activity that terrorizes the family living there. Also, like the original, this story purports to be true. At the end of the book, a few poorly rendered black and white photos are presumably intended to prove the veracity of the claim.

The chilling story’s structure is well-planned and delivered at a reasonably good pace. At times, the author uses a conversational style, allowing the reader to feel as if they are there with the family and author experiencing the paranormal activities. While I found this book to be thrilling, I felt it could benefit from another edit to catch a few typos that felt distracting. Those minor criticisms aside, horror fans will love this book. It’s terrifying.

Taylor Mill Horror is an engaging and sensational read. The author presents their facts and the stories they personally experienced, along with the stories of Sam and his family, to make this nonfiction work unforgettable. Fans of horror, true stories, paranormal activity, and true-life thrillers will be on the edge of their seats throughout this horrifying book.

Daemon Blood – Book Trailer

Our war will not unfold in your imaginary heaven. We will fight on Earth with human beings as pawns and weapons.

Lu Darlington is a seer, bound to the daemon Talion through ritual and blood. It’s not a role she enjoys, but she has little choice: daemons take what they want and destroy whoever stands in their way.

So Lu’s surprised when Talion doesn’t punish her for her newfound ability to keep him from possessing her whenever he likes. In fact he’s pleased. The stronger she is, he explains, the more powerful he becomes.

And he needs that power, because a war is brewing in the daemon world, a war that will be fought by—and through—humans.

Lu’s friend Lisa Duncan can’t see daemons but she’s seen what they can do and so has stayed far away from Lu for years. But after a bizarre attack on Lisa leaves half a man dead and she learns it’s only the first skirmish in the daemon war, Lisa realizes the safest place to be is with Lu.

Then Talion sends Lu away to teach her skills to another seer and Lisa must stay behind to look after Lu’s son Solly, conceived through a daemon ceremony with Talion. At four years old Solly’s seer abilities are already so strong Lisa is sometimes more afraid of Solly than for him.

As Talion’s enemies grow bolder, Lisa and Lu face attacks from every direction. There seems little hope any of them will survive—until Talion and his allies devise a plan.

The only problem is how much it will cost.

An Incredible Experience

Alexander Semenyuk
Alexander Semeny Author Interview

Paradise Harbour follows a young private investigator on a case that tests his sanity, humanity, and body. What was the inspiration for the setup to your story?

I suppose something like this was a long time coming for me, and inspiration came suddenly. I always liked noir and investigator stories, especially from first person perspective, but always felt I wasn’t ready to write one myself. I am glad that it finally happened, I found my true style of writing.

Luc Nistage is an intriguing and well developed character. What were some driving ideals behind your character’s development?

To get into the proper creation of the character and his surroundings I completely dove into the right atmosphere. I ate some similar things, I drank black tea late at night, only listened to 1920s jazz music, learned a lot about the style and history of those times. It was an incredible experience.

What were some themes that were important for you to explore in this book?

The book is filled with moral questions and dilemmas. I address things such as greed, selfishness, faith, confidence, individuality, loyalty, friendship. Sometimes there is a very thin line between right and wrong, sometimes it is very obvious as well. A lot of the the times questions we must answer in life do not have a simple answer.

What is the next book that you are working on and when will it be available?

I have contracts for both sequels to Paradise Harbour. Paradise Shores and Paradise Symphony, readers can expect those to come their way next year.

Enter Paradise Harbour, a town where nothing is as it seems. Where cultists, creatures, gangsters, and a serial killer terrify the public, a young private investigator must find a missing woman amidst all the evil barricades surrounding him.

Pulse Book One

Pulse takes place in 2040 where technology is ruling people’s everyday lives. There is an undeniable horror aspect to this book and much of that comes from the way society is crashing. Pulse is an organization that controls everyone through technology platforms. The book is written from several different characters’ points of view, which offers interesting twists. There is no one dominant character that overtakes the story. Pulse is a very relevant book, it ties in a lot of the current events that we are facing today, which makes this book even scarier.

Pulse by B.A. Bellec builds slow to give readers a chance to understand the circumstances and key organizations at play in this novel. Readers will find a lot of modern day issues are written into this novel giving it an additional level of plausibility. The book is gory, playing into the fear and horror aspect. This is not limited to a few scenes the reader can gloss over, rather it is pivotal to the plot.

With a slow-burn style of writing and an uncanny resemblance to modern technological issues Pulse really shines in its ability to weave in and out of a variety of issue while never losing its creepy vibe. The characters in Pulse are a part of the company Pulse and organizers and sponsors of the festival. Bellec shows readers how one organization can easily become a monopoly on all things we consume, thus controlling all aspects of our lives.

Pulse does a great job at painting a vivid picture so you feel like you are a part of the story. This engrossing novel will appeal to readers looking for a riveting dystopian story combined with compelling science fiction. This is an eerie creature feature with subtle but deep social commentary that will keep readers entertained and thinking long after they have put the book down.

Paradise Harbour

Paradise Harbour : A Noir Horror Thriller by [Alexander Semenyuk]

Paradise Harbour by Alexander Semenyuk is a riveting noir thriller about a missing med school student. A private detective is hired and tasked with finding her. Her father is wealthy and influential and avails to the detective the resources he needs. It turns out there is a serial killer in Rhode Island, coupled with a few more unsavory suspects – the KKK, a sea god cult, a banker and a Madame who both double in prostitution. As he narrows down the search, the story takes a harrowing twist.

Paradise Harbour is a captivating thriller that takes readers on an unpredictable but deeply intriguing investigation.

I like the way the author uses songs to tell the stories of both the cult followers and their survivors. I also enjoyed the pacing of the novel. While the novel takes some wild turns, readers are given enough time to take in the details and appreciate the subtly in the story, characters, and scenes, all of this makes this mystery easy to follow, however complex it seems to get.

The story explores a variety of themes in creative ways that give this story surprising depth. Themes such as the occult, racism, gender-based violence, prostitution, gangs, psychopathy, immorality, and corruption all come together to uniquely describe this secretive town’s traits and gives readers a relatable depiction of the most corrupt societies. I really enjoyed the characters in this novel. They were intriguing and well developed and fit within this dark and moody thriller in unique ways.

Paradise Harbour is an enthralling crime thriller that fans of noir novels will easily devour. With slick story telling and a compelling plot, this is a mesmerizing horror story that I highly recommend.
