In Backstage Guide to Real Estate, author Matt Picheny discusses real estate, investments, financial freedom, and life hurdles, among other exciting topics. The author is insightful and discusses crucial in-depth subjects that involve money and living a good life. The author starts his book by writing about his journey as an accidental investor, his trial and error methods, and how he got rich through real estate.
I appreciate the author for his openness and being genuine with his readers. Matt Picheny writes that it took him time to amass wealth from real estate. His journey was not simple, but through determination, he made it.
This book gives you a step-by-step guide on what to do, the suitable investments to pick, the path to take, and your relationship with money. I found the author’s discussions on the relationship with money profound. Matt Picheny does not conceal his experiences; he writes about his highs and lows and even invites the reader to his world.
Readers that enjoy rags to riches stories will love this book. Matt Picheny shares life lessons and encourages anyone on a self-making journey not to give up hope. I like the language he uses in ‘this book. It is unassuming. He uses few words, but the message gets home. When talking about his personal experiences, the author knows what to filter and what will benefit the reader.
I like that Matt Picheny owns his mistakes with grace and is willing to admit that he was wrong and correct his ways. The author is articulate and lays down his points skillfully. The financial concepts in the book are applicable, and the author’s objectivity is admirable.
Backstage Guide to Real Estate is for all ambitious people in business. The financial gems in this book are plenty. Some of the significant takes from this book include; teamwork, making the dream work, building a community of trust, Learning to pivot i.e., being flexible with change, and When you are sinking, don’t let go of the boat.

Living in the Gray
Posted by Literary Titan

Living in the Grey by Katie Weber is an emotionally-resonant memoir that follows Katie Weber. She has everything going for her, a great upbringing and an excellent education, she is young and healthy, but all of that is shattered when she is diagnosed with cancer at 23. After a heroic battle and being cancer-free for five years, she starts putting the pieces of her life back together. But then she relapses. With her identity and dreams shattered, Katie allows readers to follow her emotional journey, struggles, and fight for life.
Katie Weber shares her experiences in a candid and unfiltered way that feels raw, emotional, approachable, and uplifting. We learn about her challenges, but we also see how she manages to move forward.
Reading about Katie’s life after battling cancer and now in remission is an eye-opening read. There are many things that the author tells readers that I would never have thought about. Things people with cancer face, ask themselves, and fear. I was especially moved by seeing how much it affects your emotions and will to live. I wasn’t aware that the author suffered from double vision, inability to stand on her own, having bad hearing, and terrible memory. Her home has been modified to help her get around with little assistance from her husband. These are the day-to-day things that people with cancer face. They seem prosaic, but all these small things add up to something that feels daunting, and I appreciated how those challenges are shared and explored in this memoir.
Throughout the author’s book, she mentions that it is hard not to sound upset with everything she is dealing with and she should be grateful to be alive, but if I were in her shoes, I would feel the exact same way. I give praise to Katie for finding an outlet through writing. I also enjoyed the pieces of her blog she shares with readers. Katie also brings to light how the pandemic affected her because she was out of contact with the world and felt even more lonely.
Living in the Grey is an insightful, touching, and encouraging memoir that I highly recommend to readers who might be battling cancer or anyone who wants to learn more about the fight and see firsthand what those with cancer face. Katie Weber shares her personal experience, and readers get an up close look into her life and thoughts.

A Schizophrenic, Tapped & Skipped
Posted by Literary Titan

Raising children takes a strong will, flexibility, and a love like no other. No one can predict the paths our children will take or what circumstances they may find themselves as they grow, change, and have experiences without us by their sides. We would like to think, as parents, that we know our children and have everything under control. Life, however, makes plans that are often very different from our own. J. Mark Stacy is no stranger to the hardships of raising children. Stacy’s daughters are battling both drug addiction and the beast known as schizophrenia.
A Schizophrenic, Tapped & Skipped: Hope in the Midst of Madness, by J. Mark Stacy, is the no-holds-barred true story of one woman’s battle to remain hopeful in the face of overwhelming pain, fear, and utter destruction. When her daughter begins to show signs of schizophrenia as a teenager, their devastating journey begins. In addition to the battle with a crippling mental illness, the family must find a way to fight back against drug addiction.
Stacy’s book left me speechless. Her writing is raw; she holds nothing back as she shares her family’s story. From her initial shock to her own breakdowns, Stacy does not hesitate to tell readers how incredibly painful her daughters’ battles have been for everyone involved. Her work brings much-needed light to the struggle to treat mental illness and drug addiction. Prior to reading Stacy’s story, I had no idea how incredibly difficult it is for young adults battling debilitating schizophrenia to seek help from facilities. It goes without saying that Stacy’s book will be instrumental in changing the way mental illness and drug addiction are viewed by those of us who have never dealt with it firsthand.
Faith plays a huge part in the way Stacy is able to care for both of her daughters. As the years pass, readers see exactly how much she relies on her faith to do everything from simply riding in a car with her daughter to leaving her to live on her own. Stacy is able to give readers hope through her experiences, as crushing as they may seem.
The heart and soul that has been poured into this work is simply phenomenal. I highly recommend A Schizophrenic, Tapped & Skipped: Hope in the Midst of Madness to any family battling drug addiction or the effects of mental illness. Stacy is an ally who offers a revealing picture of her life while at the same time showing readers that hope does, indeed, exist.

Rocky Mountains – A Self-Portrait
Posted by Literary Titan

It isn’t often that we get to sneak a peek into the hows and whys of the jobs and hobbies around us. Assumptions are easy to make, and it takes very little to make a guess as to what causes a person to become drawn to a career. Photography is one of those interests. There is much more to taking photographs than most of us will ever realize. This endeavor requires a great deal more than just a love of being behind the camera.
Photographer and author, Kent Gunnufson, shares his lifelong love and dedication to creating artwork with the camera in his autobiographical book, Rocky Mountains: A Self-Portrait. Gunnufson’s book is filled with the most amazing landscape images from his time spent in the Rockies. In addition, he has included photos of people and objects that seem to defy all logic in their beauty. The purpose of the author’s work is to share the story behind his career and his love of photography and his subjects, but the stunning imagery he has captured will be, without a doubt, what fascinates readers from cover to cover.
Gunnufson’s story is compelling and is a must-read for those interested in photography. There is a story behind each of the images he has taken, and they are all fascinating. He not only relays to readers how he found each subject, but he explains in detail the intricacies of the composition of each photo. This is something I found especially interesting as I read. Taking photographs seems, at first glance, like a simple task. Gunnufson, however, explains in language all readers will understand exactly how much thought and preparation goes into each one of them.
I have always been drawn to black and white photography whether it be nature or portraits. Gunnufson provides wonderful insight into the history of black and white photography and how it compares with color imagery. It really is a treat to see this side of photography and hear directly from the artist himself about the ins and outs of the process.
Rocky Mountains: A Self-Portrait is an astonishing look at the life of one photographer. Photographers and students of the art will appreciate the advice, insight, and history provided by the author. I cannot say enough about the beautiful images Gunnufson has created. There is a softness to his work that readers will find absolutely riveting. I highly recommend Gunnufson’s book for both his enchanting images and the heart he has poured into his personal narrative.

The Crimes My Wife Suffered
Posted by Literary Titan
Truth is Indestructible is an emotional memoir of the abuse your wife sustained at the hands of family, and your journey to help others in situations like hers with social reform. Why was this an important book for you to write?
I was stimulated to write the book because of two main challenges. First, the crimes my wife suffered were so horrible, indeed so evil, that I found it hard to express them in words. I have found that music, as a non-verbal language, can express what usually lies beyond articulation. But I sought nonetheless to search for language suitable to convey the evil of the events. The second challenge was the ongoing cover-up of the crimes: I was horrified that my wife’s extended family chose to brush the crimes under the rug, and I felt compelled to bring the truth out into the light of day.
I appreciated the candid nature with which you told your story. What was the hardest thing for you to write about?
I wanted to narrate the story without giving too many details of the crimes. I hint in the narrative at the nature of the attacks on my wife, but I decided against providing the awful details. Instead, I looked at the significance of the crimes and how they relate to concepts of justice, retribution and truth.
What advice would you give to others that are in a situation like your wife was in?
I would suggest focusing principally on the victim’s healing. The search for justice is very important, but protecting the victim from further trauma is – in my view – perhaps more important.
What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your story?
I hope the reader will take from the narrative the importance of protecting children, as prevention is certainly better than after-the-fact detection. Also, even in the bleakest of situations, one can always salvage something positive, if only bringing out hidden truths.

The Worst Life Has to Offer
Posted by Literary Titan

The grief surrounding the loss of a loved one is unbearable. This heart-wrenching memoir of a mother enduring the worst kind of sorrow attempts to bring comfort to grieving parents. As she ponders over what she could have done differently she clings to the endless distress. That said, fate is beyond one’s control, with pain only mitigating over time. Her only solace now is to seek justice and process the heartbreaking reality of her life.
The Worst Life Has To Offer by Venetta Cox-Mylnczyk is a memoir that grips the raw emotions in one’s heart, translating a mother’s story of resilience as she navigates life after the unforeseeable death of her two sons, only 6 months apart. This book touches the core of your being and evokes empathy bringing tears to your eyes with the overwhelming realization of how one trivial mistake can drastically change another’s life.
Venetta has battled the worst, yet still perseveres in the face of adversity. She offers sincere compassion with her words to those that have been subjected to the worst kind of grief: a pain unimaginable. With emotions that hit you right in the gut, it evokes a powerful sense of strength in those who have dealt with the most unfair of life’s circumstances.
The Worst Life Has To Offer by Venetta Cox-Mylnczyk is a book that truly depicts raw sentiments of a mother’s plea for justice: encapsulating a sense of hope for those to overcome even the darkest of days and come out strong in the face of adversity. Challenging as it may be, nothing can compensate for a loss like this, but this narrative genuinely grasps the intricacies of pain, and gracefully honors the memory of her two sons, Brandon and Devon.
