Adopt Disruptive Technologies

Dr. Srikanth Gaddam
Dr. Srikanth Gaddam Author Interview

The Future of Disruptive Technologies explores technologies that can change businesses, the workforce, and society. Why was this an important book for you to write?

As I started to do my research on various technologies, reading hundreds of articles and books, I soon found that there were so many different technologies to choose from. It’s so overwhelming and disturbing on how technology is going to impact us and our future generations. At the same time, how one can be proactive and take advantage of opportunities instead of living in fear.

This spurred me to gather together some of my findings in the hope that I can educate or provide useful information for kids and professionals in their mid-careers stuck with old technologies. I want to encourage everyone who reads this book to think of new and innovative technologies to adapt as they adjust in their careers, and also to get an understanding of how these technologies impact our future especially businesses and societies.

What is one thing you hope readers take away from your book?

The aim to educate and encourage every reader to adopt disruptive technologies, as well as to understand their impact on the future of businesses, workforce, and societies, “The Future Of Disruptive Technologies” was born.

Throughout this insightful book, readers will:

  • Learn how Cloud Computing is used to innovate in cheaper and faster ways
  • Find out why Big Data is the new “oil” — the new raw material for businesses
  • Understand how futures are reinvented with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Educate themselves on why Data Privacy must be a priority in Cybersecurity
  • Immerse themselves in all the new ways people behave and interact with machines
  • Discover a world where dreams become reality — virtual and augmented realities
  • Find out how 5G networks are transforming lives at high speed
  • And so much more!

What is your professional experience and how has it helped you write this book?

Dr. Srikanth (Sri) Gaddam is an author, angel investor and a seasoned entrepreneur who launched three successful technology companies in the last seventeen years. Also, Dr. Gaddam’ s doctorate thesis is primarily focused on technology disruption “ROLE OF SENIOR LEADERS IN AN ERA OF TECHNOLOGY DISRUPTION: INFLUENCE ON TIMING OF ADOPTION”

Do you have plans to write other books on this same topic?

I am currently working on my new book “The Entrepreneurial Mindset: The Key Principles of Building and Growing Your Business”

Embracing Disruptive Technology & Leveraging – Each for Career Development is Possible — If You Keep Reading!

When Dr. Srikanth Gaddam’s 15-year-old son broached the possibilities of landing a high-paying programming job without a college degree, he had to pause and reflect. After all, “even Bill Gates or Steve Jobs did not complete college but became billionaires.”
On the one hand, society has conditioned us that college is the ultimate mark of success. On the other, it takes 10,000 hours to master anything if you’re truly keen.
This spurred author, angel investor, and seasoned entrepreneur Dr. Srikanth Gaddam to gather insights on the best technologies for people, young and old, to begin to study and master — whether or not they decide to undergo formal education.

With the aim to educate and encourage every reader to adopt disruptive technologies, as well as to understand their impact on the future of businesses, workforce, and societies, “The Future Of Disruptive Technologies” was born.
Throughout this insightful book, readers will:
•Learn how Cloud Computing is used to innovate in cheaper and faster ways
•Find out why Big Data is the new “oil” — the new raw material for businesses
•Understand how futures are reinvented with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
•Educate themselves on why Data Privacy must be a priority in Cybersecurity
•Immerse themselves in all the new ways people behave and interact with machines
•Discover a world where dreams become reality — virtual and augmented realities
•Find out how 5G networks are transforming lives at high speed
•And so much more!

With so many different technologies to choose from, it’s easy to become overwhelmed.
In “The Future Of Disruptive Technologies”, any young adult or professional in their mid-careers stuck with old technologies can take the first step to grasp both the present and future impacts of technology… and how to leverage each.

Manufacturing Civility

Manufacturing Civility: People Treatment as a Continuous Improvement Strategy by [Christian Masotti, Lewena Bayer]

Christian Masotti and Lewena Bayer are here to make your workplace better and to make Human Resources understand that being civilized at the workplace is the way to go. The authors have done extensive research and have come up with a list of reasons why people loathe their workplaces. Manufacturing Civility will open your eyes to how toxic some workplaces can be. The authors have highlighted and discussed in depth what makes the workplace toxic and how to improve on that. Another topic that is discussed is different workplace cultures and workplace incivility. They describe workplace incivility as low-intensity deviant workplace behavior with an ambiguous intent to harm. Are you allowed to have light moments in the workplace? Are titles and job descriptions so important? Are you happy as an employee? The authors will help you answer these and related questions as they help you understand the importance of being productive and engaging at work. In the book, the authors list down character, courage, change readiness, critical communications, competency, and consistency as the 6Cs. Each of these Cs is discussed in detail, with the authors giving real life scenarios and relatable examples for better comprehension of the context.

The topics in the book may seem basic until one reads, reflects, and gets to compare notes. When reading this book, you realize that people can be more productive if the human resource or management make working spaces a little friendlier than they are. The tone and language used in the book is friendly and encourages one to read more. The authors are also honest in their discussions. They talk of the good things that happen at the workplace and also expose the bad that some managers and human resource practitioners engage in.

Manufacturing Civility: People Treatment as a Continuous Improvement Strategy is an informative book that will open your eyes to some of the things that people endure in the workplace. You will realize that the toxicity at some workplaces is at an all-time high, and gets to be overlooked in workplace culture. The authors also had advice for employees who do not know what to do when put in this difficult position. I recommend this book to every reader who wants to learn about different workplaces and how to improve the workforce. This book is both for the subordinates and those in managerial positions.

How To Be Your BADASS Self

How To Be Your BADASS Self: A Guide to Using Your Inner Energy for Brand Success by [Annie Koshy]

How to be your Badass Self by Annie Koshy speaks about personal branding and steps on how to make use of her advice. She begins by outlining the reasons why personal branding is important backed by a good understanding of one’s worth, talent and values. She emphasizes the importance of communication, consistency and community. She notes that the thoughts others have of us will be dependent on the thoughts we have of ourselves. We need to know our strengths, pursue opportunities for growth in the areas where we are weak and continue to use our very specific expertise to help others. In doing so, one is able to create a brand identity that will resonate with the desired clients.

Annie Koshy delivers a well thought out and intuitive plan for personal success and branding with an easy to read practical guidebook. This book is useful for individuals as well as entrepreneurs, especially if they are just starting out. It is not overly stuffed with personal stories or too many research statistics that might be difficult to understand. The author does draw on references with her personal clients with strategies that worked for them and why. It is a pragmatic and accessible read for a beginners in the branding space. Each chapter has a set of key takeaways so that the reader can have a summarized reference and use it for review.

The title might suggest that it is more of a morale boost or some type of packaged bad-assery but it is a lot more sober and strategic. As the author notes, the book will only be useful if the advice given is applied. It is a process and can be a lengthy one, because it involves even as small a detail as what color best represents your ideals. Social media is very trendy recently and there is also a chapter that speaks about how to use it in branding. One other notable and useful chapter is “Making failures your success.” This is the type of information that can be useful for anyone, even those who are not necessarily building a public brand.

The Most Important Asset

Mari Ryan
Mari Ryan Author Interview

The Thriving Hive provides readers with guidance on creating a work culture that is both satisfied and motivated. Why was this an important book for you to write?

All too often we hear about employee disengagement and high turnover rates. Both of these issues cost employers millions of dollars a year. When employees have an experience at work where they feel connected to the purpose of the organization and feel they are cared for, they are more likely to both be engaged and stay with the organization. In writing this book, I hoped to show leaders and managers that they can create a workplace where both the employees and the business thrive.

What do you find is a common misconception leaders have about employees roles in companies?

In many organizations, employees are treated as assets that are there to be used up and discarded. Without your employees, you can’t achieve your business objectives. Employees are an asset, but need to be viewed as the most important asset of an organization.

You are a workplace well-being strategist and CEO of Advancing Wellness. How has your experience helped you write this book?

I’ve spent my entire career in business, with experiences in organizations from some of the largest, most notable companies in the world to very small businesses. I’ve seen the good, the bad and, yes, even the ugly.

What do you hope is one thing readers take away from your book?

The one thing I hope readers take away is that they can influence their own organization to create a workplace where well-being is a core value and that caring for their people is a key priority.

Mari Ryan, a workplace well-being strategist, tells a simple, yet insightful story in The Thriving Hive: How People-Centric Workplaces Ignite Engagement and Fuel Results. A first-time CEO realizes her organization is no longer attracting and retaining the kinds of employees they need to remain competitive and keep their customers happy. She seeks help from a mentor, the retired former CEO. With his unconventional insights, he introduces her to two very different beehive workplace cultures and how they deal with adversity.

Replete with interesting characters, the parable takes you on a journey as the bees experience hive-threatening situations. The story looks at the organizational behavior, how leadership and their management teams can create workplace cultures that diminish or support the well-being of their employees. You’ll meet the management teams and worker bees that represent typical employees in any business.

Readers join the CEO in learning about:

o Putting employee wellness first to revitalize a company

o The economic benefits of a people-centric workplace

o Creating a workplace culture with organizational behaviors that encourage organizational well-being

o Implementing structural adjustments that support employee engagement

o Strategic viewpoints and tactical practices for enhancing employee well-being

This is a quick read for anyone who wants guidance for creating a culture of well-being, purpose, vitality, and satisfaction, for an all-encompassing employee experience.

The Thriving Hive: How People-Centric Workplaces Ignite Engagement and Fuel Results

The Thriving Hive: How People-Centric Workplaces Ignite Engagement and Fuel Results by [Mari Ryan]

Anyone who has observed workplace trends and how employees in a company mingle while working together will agree that Mari Ryan wrote an informative book. The author bases all the information in the book on facts, experience, and years of research. The Thriving Hive gives you an insight into how different workplace cultures influence the productivity of employees and the rate by which companies grow. Organizations just like any entities need a specific framework to be run and a set of rules to be followed. If the management of the company puts minimum effort, then, the employees will reciprocate. The energy shown in company leadership has a huge effect on how the employees work.

In The Thriving Hive Mari Ryan talks about various types of employees, how the workplace can be a place of growth and the foundation for long-lasting goals and friendships. When reading this book, you realize that the workplace does not need to be too serious. A little fun and lightening up is allowed as long as everyone is taking care of their duties.

Through Mari Ryan’s personal experience, the reader learns how important it is for one to start their career in a warm and friendly workplace. The author writes about their lovely experiences which are encouraging. Working around people who show love and concern especially for junior employees is a pipe dream for many. Most times, seniors at a company tend to show juniors contempt due to their lack of experience and sometimes financial status. This should never be the case.

While reading this book, the general impression one gets is that the author is addressing the heads of companies and the management. Mari Ryan has solid advice for CEOs, managers, human resources, heads of departments, and all staff with senior positions. The message being reiterated throughout the book is that company heads should put their employees first. This includes employees from the lowest levels like janitors and messengers to those that hold the highest positions. Mari Ryan encourages organizations to treat their workers with dignity and in turn, they will get the best services from the employees. A happy employee will ensure that your client is also happy. This will lead to an increase in clients and thus growth of the company.

One notable thing in the book other than the solid advice is the beautiful storytelling done by the author. The narration skills are both modest and enthralling. The thriving Hive is for everyone in a leadership position or those aspiring to be leaders. This book will help business executives improve their administration skills and help shape the organizations that they head.
